Nevermore. Empty Nevermore.

But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered- not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "other friends have flown before -
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
Then the bird said, "Nevermore."

Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
"Doubtless," said I, "what it utters is its only stock and store,
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful Disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore -
Till the dirges of his Hope that melancholy burden bore
Of 'Never - nevermore'."

But the Raven still beguiling all my fancy into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust and door;
Then upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore -
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking "Nevermore."

The village of Goldsry is calm and quite, nestled deep in the mountains of some forgotten place. The people there are friendly, always giving to their neighbors and helping the community when they can. It’s a rather poor place, though. Some speculate that may be the reason everyone is so friendly. Everyone is untouched by the bitter thrill of a gold piece. Goldsry is also a town of myths and legends. Every family seems to have their own stories, though there is one common theme. The birds. Every fall around Goldsry, the skies darken as the town is invaded with hundreds of ravens. Some go as far to say that these birds are not normal, something about them is different, darker. There have even been tales of the ravens luring off small children.

No one knows if these tales are true… Well, unless they are one of the alleged children of the birds. Old Uma, the wise woman of the village, gathers the children around every year and tell them the same story about her daughter, Yanna, who was taken by the ravens when she was just a small girl, no more than eight. She had never seen her since, but instead, was visited by a raven each day, which would stoop on her fence and call to the house. Uma always said that the bird felt like Yanna, but she never got close enough to check. Each year, even growing into teenagers, the children would all run back to their homes, watching out the next days for the bird’s arrivals.

Now, the days of fall come again and all the children have been told to stay indoors at night, but it’s up to them whether they listen or not.

Note: Light eyes and hair is relatively uncommon for people in the village. Ginger hair is very rare, and a sign that someone may be cursed, and often hidden. Most likely, characters will have brown/black hair and dark eyes.

Name: Yanna
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Appearance:
--Eyes: Deep brown in the sunlight, though in the shadows, they appears as pitch black, the color of ravens feathers. Always seem a little bit disoriented.
--Hair: Medium brown hair that hangs long and slightly wavy. She always used to wear it in a braid when she was younger, but now, she favors it down, and she doesn’t take particularly good care of it.
--Skin: Fair skin, sometimes holding the smudge of dirt and she constantly has slight scratches all over her body.
--Height: She’s small, only 5’3”.
--Build: Quite thin and frailly built. Seems quite breakable and a bit awkward, like she hasn’t quite grown into her body.
--Typical Clothing: Without fail, she’s always dressed in black pants and beige sweater that looks a little too big on her. She never has shoes on, either.
--Other: She has small, meaningless tattoos around her wrists, which may prove not to be so meaningless if she could understand them. She didn’t get them herself, though. She got them after she was brought away from her home. She also has a scar that starts on her chin and ends halfway up her temple from an accident she got into as a child.

Brief Background: Yanna grew up in Goldsry and while she’s not Uma’s biological daughter, she was raised that way. She had a pretty normal childhood, compared to some people in her village. When she was eight, she was lured away by the ravens and she has lived in the forest, travelling with them since.

Name: Rosalind
Age: 6
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Appearance:
--Eyes: Unlike most of the people in the village, she has blue eyes, and very light ones at that.
--Hair: Also differing from the norm, she has light hair. It’s a very fine, frizzy cornsilk blonde that she wears back in a braid most of the time.
--Skin: Porcelain skinned and always a bit grubby.
--Height: 3’ 5” tall, maybe just a bit shorter than the average 6 year old. It's just another thing she's made fun of for.
--Build: Very thin and lithely built.
--Typical Clothing: Wears a small, tattered, light blue sundress and black sandals. Never seems to change, even in the winter.
--Other: N/A

Brief Background: Rosalind is the last of five daughters born to the baker of Goldsry. She is considered an odd child by most and is alone a lot of the time. She never seems to mind, either, though maybe it is because she can’t speak. Also, Rosalind has the ability to communicate and understand the ravens, though she’s completely mute otherwise.

Nevermore. Empty Re: Nevermore.

Name Chelsea 'Blackbird' Turrow
Age: 14
Gender: F
Species: human
Appearance:
--Eyes: a deep red, although it's only evident in the light. When it's dark they appear just solid black.
--Hair: Fair blonde, naturally grown out layers just to below her shoulder blades. Choppy side bangs framing both sides of her face
--Skin: naturally has a light tanned color to her, although she doesn't go in the sun much. a few scars on her hands, a more noticeable one at the hollow of her neck.
--Height: 5'2''
--Build: She's all around small. Petite, small chested, and thin limbed - although she does have surprising strength. A round face. Easily mistaken for a child, many times
--Typical Clothing: (Optional but definitely suggested) She wears a white blouse and dark grey pants, black boots beneath. Atop, she has a mid length cloak, the bottom cut jaggedly like feathers. Around her neck, on a red ribbon, there's a blackbird charm.
--Other: (Optional) borderline personality disorder.

She's been a loner since she ran away from her parents at four from a village nearby, and into the woods. You'll be damned before you get her to talk about it, but she somehow found her way to Goldsry - the journey causing the scars she has now, where she got a reputation of being a raven's child and has been largely avoided. Her eyes unsettle people a lot, and if that doesn't get to them then her apparent lack of emotion does.
