The Long Miles of Night

Your characters have been drawn through the fabric of spacetime by a device called the Singularity Bridge (not to be confused with a gravity bridge). Currently it's in the hands of Komathi Joe, the renowned Chzir merchant. In order to get it back and finally return home, your characters are going to have to work together to either steal it from Komathi Joe or strike a deal with him. Be warned, Joe is a tricky bastard and a wily trader, so neither option is going to be easy.

Your characters appear in a large room that, due to the artificial gravity, initially feels like it's on Earth. It appears to be the inside of a shopping mall or something similar, except with a vague apple iphone feel to it. There are creatures of all shapes, sizes, and materials moving through the room, some of which appear to be at least partly human. Cybernetic enhancements are common. Also, on closer inspection, the windows show views of a swirling green-yellow gas giant off to one side. People are stopping and staring at the appearance of the characters in a crackle of darkness, and a tall, spindly, three-legged creature has picked up the surprisingly small Singularity Bridge and disappeared into the crowd with it.

Luke Blackmoore is fifteen-years-old, 5'8", and fairly skinny. He's quite pale and has short, neat dark-brown-almost-black hair and grey eyes. He's wearing a light blue striped Oxford button-down unbuttoned over a dark grey plain T-shirt, as well as dark blue neat, well-fitting jeans and a pair of black vans. He has a red woven bracelet around his left wrist and a royal blue and black backpack slung over one shoulder.

Luke: *appears in the room* *freezes* *his face manages to become even more pale* *What* *What the hell* *his right hand goes behind his back and grasps at air* *Fuck* *his lips part to say something, but no sound comes out* *his eyes dart around the room, trying to make sense of what he sees*

Luke: *his knees buckle but he stops himself before he actually falls* *squeezes his eyes shut* *This this has to be a nightmare I just need to wake up* *his hands go up to his temples and his breathing begins to speed up and become more labored*

Patch is approximately 21 years of age. He is six feet tall and has a lean, muscular build. He has fair skin and blue eyes. By his left eye, a pale scar trailing down to his upper cheek can be seen. He has shoulder length black hair that he tends to wear down, but occasionally has it in a ponytail. He wears a plain cotton shirt, black vest, black pants, black lace up boots, and a black cloak with the hood up most of the time. The cloak often holding various items in it.

Rooster is about twelve years of age with messy red hair, green eyes, and an array of freckles on the bridge of his nose. He has a habit of being quite loud, which is how he got his namesake. He wears a green button up shirt, brown pants, brown lace up boots, and a tan cloak.

Patch and Rooster: *appear*
Rooster: *wide-eyed* "This isn't the warehouse..." *clings to Patch* "Where are we?"
Patch: "Hell if I know." *may or may not be holding on to Rooster as well* *uneasy*

A pair of tulamarong paramedics (apparently giant, green-grey lobsters with far too many limbs and deep blue tunics and trousers) approach hurriedly.

Medic: *in a voice that is clearly robotic in nature* *the words sound like a strange dialect of English with an accent never heard on Earth* *to Patch, gesturing to Luke* "May I ask what is the matter with your friend?"

Luke: *opens his eyes briefly upon hearing English* *WHAT THE FUCK* *scrambles away from the paramedics, not paying attention to whatever else lies in that direction* *manages to choke out* S-Stay the fuck away from me!

Patch: *swallows hard, attempting to try to take in the lobster men* *please don't let this ruin seafood for me* *trying to remain calm* "... I have no frigging clue... I don't even know the guy." *gestures to like with his hand* "Probably mental." *just play it cool and maybe they won't eat us*
Rooster: *hides behind Patch, staring at the paramedics with wide eyes*

1st paramedic: *to Luke* "Sir? Sir!"

2nd paramedic: *to the 1st paramedic* *in their own language* "I'll fetch a human first-aider. You stay here to make sure they're all okay." *disappears into the crowd*

Luke: Leave me alone! *Wake up wake up wake up* *Maybe I am mental and I'm hallucinating giant fucking lobsters oh god what the fuck is happening to me*

The 2nd paramedic returns, leading a stocky, tough-looking chubby Latina woman in a very similar blue tunic and trousers. She has black hair in a tight ponytail, and what look like suspiciously non-standard boots. She's known as Sevens.

Sevens: *approaches Luke* "Are you alright? My name's Sevens. What's yours?"

1st Paramedic: *to Patch* "You look concerned. Do not be alarmed: Sevens is a trained professional specialising in human ailments."

Patch: *is not concerned for Luke, is more concerned about himself and Rooster right now as well as his kids back at home* "... That's... good to hear." *I need to talk to her and ask her how to get back home*

1st Paramedic: *nods sagely* *to Patch* "Yes. It is good. Are you unhurt?"

Luke: *Oh thank God a human* *I am the opposite of alright this is a nightmare* Luke... Please, get it away from me!

Sevens: "Get what away from you? Are you hallucinating, sir?"

Luke: *looking up at the paramedic for a moment, his eyes lingering on it for a moment* *Am I hallucinating?* *No it brought her here* I'm not crazy, it's-- there's-- the giant lobster-y thing right by you!

Sevens: "You mean..." *coldly* "Sir, that would be Ms Akkar. Is this meant to be some kind of a racist joke?"

Luke: *his eyes flit from Sevens to Ms. Akkar and back, over and over* I-- what-- it's-- how-- *I can't handle this I just want to wake up get me out of here* *buries his head in his hands*

Sevens: "Are you confused, sir?"

Luke: *spoken through his hands* I just want this to end... *I have to wake up come on please*

Sevens: "I can administer a mild sedative if that would help."

Luke: *What* No no no, I don't need drugs! *tries to move a little further away from Sevens* *I just need to wake up* *I mean drugs in a dream shouldn't do anything...* *But... if I'm not.*

Sevens: *dubiously* "Alright. If you're sure. Is there anything I can help you with?"

Luke: I... *Even if I'm dreaming, it can't hurt to figure out where this is.* I don't know where I am...

Sevens: "Yù Jǐng sān Station, shopping level. Do you know how you got here?"
