"They say that the cure for love will make me happy and safe forever. And I've always believed them. Until now. Now everything has changed. Now, I'd rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years smothered by a lie."

In the past, love has raged through the streets of the world, silently killing all of those unfortunate enough to catch it. It's a disease, one that masks itself as something you can't live without, something that will eventually kill you in the end.
After this was recognized, it took twenty years to come up with a cure. A procedure at the age of 18 that creates a three pronged scare right behind your ear. Once you have it, you will no longer love. No longer feel the pain that it brings. You will be happy, satisfied with whatever life gives you.
At least...That's what they've told you.

The Laws:::
~ Every child of the age 17 must have an evaluation day. They will be tested and scored on a scale of 1-10, 1 being the best.
~ After the evaluation, each child will be given a sheet of four names, four pairs, chosen for them. They will number these people (of the opposite sex) from who they want to be with to who they don't. After turning the sheet back in, they will recieve their pair by the end of the week. Their pair is who they will marry.
~ On every child's 18th birthday, they are to have the procedure. They will go to college after that, then marry their pair after graduation.
~ All uncureds must be home by 9:30
~ Under no cercumstances is there to be any interaction between two uncureds of the opposite sex. No music, books, or movies unless they're approved.
~ Each approved civilization is surrounded by an electric fence strong enough to fry you to bacon in seconds. There are also guards. Only with special permission are you able to pass through to another approved civilization.

The Regulators:::
~ The regulators scour the city every night, looking for suspicious activity. If they find any, they are to stop it at all costs. Even if that means sending the kid to the labs to get their procedure before their 18th birthday (which can be very dangerous. May cause blindness, muteness, or mental retardation) or if it means killing them on the spot.
~ Regulators may construct raids every once in a while, going to houses at random and inspecting them.

The Wilds:::
~ The Wilds are the "unapproved places in the world.
~ No electicity, no plumbing, no borders, no guards, no electric fence, no regulators, no rules.
~ The people known as Invilads live in the Wilds. They see the procedure as torture, crulety.
~ They have 'agents' in tht approved civilizations known as Sympathisers. These people are the ones who have had the cure, but miss the happiness that the pain of love sometimes brings them.
~ Invalids are in the approved cities. They have ways to get in and out without being detected. It's hard, but not impossible.
~ Many people believe the Invalids don't exist.

The Crypts:::
~ The Crypt is like prison. Only worse.
~ There are Six wards.
~ Ward Six is for the people who resist the cure (this is after you are tried to be forced into having it). For the known Sympathizers. They are in there until they die.
~ Bottom line? This place is dark, wet, moldy, scary, and stinky. You don't want to end up here.

There are Invalids and Sympathizers all around us. But there are regulators and guards just around the corners of buildings, waiting to catch you.

Appearance: Brown, slightly wavy hair. Dark gray eyes. Skinny, but has muscle from living in the Wilds. He has the three pronged scar behind his ear to mark that he had the procedure. It's pretty easy to replicate with a pocket knife.
Bio: Landon has lived in the Wilds his whole life. But the idea of the cure sets him on edge, making his tempter fly. So he's snuck into an approved city to help make a difference "undercover". He has a job as a guard to the borders, but it's only parttime until he gets his schooling done. All of this is for show. His real job is to get other Invalids into the city as safely and quietly as possible.

Bio: Her parents are known Sympathizers. She's been shamed since she was ten and can't wait for her procedure so that she doesn't become anything like them. She doesn't want to become infected and will prevent it at all costs.

Bio: Her parents are average citizens and she has simply been told all her life that this is what is done. But she has her doubts and isnt sure she wants to go through with this.....
