The house on the rocks

You have just woken up on an off shore location, a house on the rocks to be exact (similar to that in harry potter). The small cottage is run down and most of the furniture you discover is either covered in dust or drapped with sheets. Unfortunately, its pouring out there and the waves are crashing against the rocks causing them to be so slippery, you dare not venture outside. For now, you decide to explore your new surroundings. What do you do?

Kafadzwa Tendo is young, a little over sixteen, and reasonably fit. She generally wears a mid-brown kaftan cinched in at the middle with a belt, with a lantern and a few tools hanging from the belt. She also tends to carry a sub-nebula mouthpiece attached to a small tank on her back, and wears a pair of goggles over her eyes. If she wears a hat it's a flat cloth affair to keep the worst of the sun off.

Kendra

Its been raining, no wait, freaking pouring ever since I woke up. And I keep hoping that maybe if I get up and check, it'll have stopped but it hasn't. Once again, I slam the door again before plopping on the couch in front of the fire I made. I had been up for a bout an...hour? Yeah probably around there. So far no one was up, or the owner wasn't here. At least, to my knowledge.

Langston

I bolt up at the sound of the door slamming, and instinctively shrink and duck under the bed. This wasn't my room, or my house, or my little hide out, or the patriots' place....okay, I've been a lot of places, I know. I try to slow my breathing, my chest heaving as I take in the scent of musty old sheets and dust. Just hoping that whoever that was doesnt find me or come upstairs.

Kafadzwa rolled over in her bunk, unable to sleep comfortably. Why had the ship stopped rocking? It was windy enough to rock. Was she really in Mr Tendo's house and she'd forgotten? Her eyes opened to a slight crack, expecting to see the sandy beige ceiling of Mr Tendo's spare bedroom. Her eyes slammed open and she squeaked in panic as she saw dark, dusty rafters above her. This was nothing like Mr Tendo's house! She rolled out of the bed and stood up, checking herself. Apparently she'd been sleeping fully dressed, something she never did, but was thankful for today.
"Hello?" she called out.

Langston

I stumble, grabbing the covers to keep from falling out of surprise. I hadn't seen the girl when I woke up. I stay quiet though, watching her feet on the floor to see what she'll do next.

Kafadzwa drew her rigger's knife and advanced slowly. "Is anyone there?"
Her footsteps sounded loud, her boots thudding on the wooden planks and raising small clouds of dust.

Langston


I hesitate, not liking the sound of how heavy her boots were. I could grow though, it wouldn't take me long to...and I could defend myself....or I could take my chances....

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

"I am," I say loudly, so she can hear me from my hiding spot. I wasn't quite ready to go out yet though.

Kafadzwa spun around on the spot, ready to defend herself. There was no one there. her eyes darted into the corners of the room, searching for the interloper. She tripped over her words slightly as she spoke again.
"Where are you?"

Langston


Great, now she wants to see where I am. I swear if there is any manhandling or er....womanhandling...

NONE of that.

I step out from under the edge of the covers, pushing them aside as one would a curtain. "Right here," I say, looking up at her and folding my arms over my chest. I make sure to keep my distance though, watching her carefully as I do so.

Kafadzwa looked around wildly, eventually looking down and seeing Langston.
"...Oh. Okay then. You're pretty small."

Langston


I look up at her, snorting slightly. "So....that makes me not a threat, huh?" I say, slightly amused.

Kafadzwa narrowed her eyes. "I never said that. Are you threatening me?"

Langston


"Not at all," I say lightly. I wasn't but if she tried anything I wasn't going to let her succeed.

Kafadzwa nodded. "Good. But don't think I trust you just yet. And why are you so tiny?"

Langston


I grin up at her, rocking on my heels a bit. "Why? Is there anything wrong with this size?"

Kafadzwa thought about it for a moment. "It's weird, and I don't want you looking up my kaftan."

Langston


Well, I see how that could be awkward. I blush slightly, rubbing the back of my neck as I look down at the floor. "I wasn't looking, I promise." I say honestly. She was pretty...I had never had much experience with girls, I had always been home schooled. 

I start to grow, going back to my normal height well sorta. I was maybe, originally a couple inches shorter than her, not by much though. Now, I was closer to 6'2 or so. Maybe it was a pride thing, or maybe I was just...a bit embarrassed I don't know...my face still felt quite hot and I was pretty sure it was a decent shade of pink.

Kafadzwa looked him up and down. "That's an interesting trick. Where did you learn that?"

"It's not a trick," I say, looking down at her. "I've had this skill since birth. My parents had similar abilities. My Mom could grow and my Dad could shrink."

Kafadzwa nodded. "That seems useful, I'll admit."

Langston


"It is," I say, grinning at her. I offer my hand to her, "My name's Langston. What's your's?"

Kafadzwa inspected the proffered hand for a moment. "My name is Kafadzwa Tendo. Pleased to meet you."

Langston


I awkwardly drop my hand down to my side. "Interesting name, so uh, is this your house?"

"Mine?" she snorted. "I don't have a house any more."
