The house on the rocks

"It's possible," she mused. "Where is here?"

Sarah

I woke up, expecting to see our underground camp.

I didn't see our underground camp.

"Wh-what?" I squeaked. I sat bolt upright, looking around in alarm. This was some kind of shack.

Where am I... I thought. What happened...? Where is everyone?

Kendra

There was an audible squeek in the next room. "Who's there?" I call out.

Langston

"I'm not sure," I say, going over to the window and peering out. "it looks like we're on an island...of rocks."

Kafadzwa peered out of the window next to him. She poined at the waves crashing against the rocks.
"What's that!?" she squeaked.

Langston

"Water....you've never seen it before?" I ask, confused at her reaction.

"You mean that's all water? We must be in the middle of the biggest lake in the world!"

Langston

"It's the sea, it's a body of salt water. Your pirates don't sail on the ocean?" I ask confused.

"Of course they sail the oceans, but whoever heard of the sea being full of water?" Kafadzwa snorted. "That doesn't make any sense at all! it would all just drain away."

Langston

"I've never heard of that," I say, looking down at her. What kind of ocean WAS this?!

Kafadzwa stared at him for a moment. "Where are you from?"

Langston

"Earth, where are YOU from?" I ask, giving her a confused look.

Kafadzwa blinked. "I was going to say Earth as well. Clearly we come from different Earths."

Sarah

"That depends, who're you?" I asked.

Langston

"Clearly," I muse, watching the rain beat against the house. "That's quite interesting."

Kendra

"Name's Kendra, who're you?" I call back, watching the door to the other room curiously.

Sarah

"Sarah," I said. "Where is this?"

"Yes," said Kafadzwa. "Is it always like this where you come from? Raining and windy, I mean."

Langston

"No, not always. It's because we're by the sea."

Kendra

"Not sure. Do you want to come out? I don't bite. Not much at least," I muse. "I'm making some tea."

"And all the seas are full of water where you come from?" she said. "What keeps it in?"

Langston

"Think of it like a cup with water in it. There's a sea floor and water fills it."

"Huh," she mused. "That makes a lot of sense. I don't know what's under our seas."

Sarah

I crawled out of wherever I was and stood up, rubbing my eyes. Yeah, this was definitely some kind of shack. I could hear waves crashing all around, which I hoped I was wrong about.

Langston

"Well I guess it's kinda like a cup with a hole in it, if water can't stay in," I joke, slightly amused.


Kendra


I carefully move the  tea pot away from its place over the fire, as not to burn myself. "Want some?" I say, glancing over a the new comer.

Sarah

"Uh, no thanks," I said. "So you really don't know where we are?"

Kendra

"Nope, no clue. This isn't your house?" I ask, glancing at her sheepishly.

Sarah

"Not even close," I said. "I seriously have no clue where this is or why I'm here."
