The List: War of Insurrection

Autumn: I looked at him. "You're supposed to be the one with hope. You're supposed to be optimistic. Stop it, okay?"

Corrigan:"Well, there isn't much hope at this point. So what else am I to talk about?"

Autumn: I stop. "Something else other than dying."

Corrigan: I stop, too. "Does dying make you sad?"

Autumn: "It makes everyone sad."

Corrigan: "Most people, you mean. There are some that don't fear death, they expect it." Like me expecting not to be able to take care of my younger siblings and of them soon dying. Which reminded me I have to live, for their sake. I began walking again. "I just remembered my purpose for getting out of these tunnels."

Autumn: "Your insane, aren't you?" I asked, catching up.

Corrigan: "No, why do you say that?" (not sarcastic)

Autumn: "Oh, I don't know. We're in a dark tunnel and you have mood swings and...I have no idea what you're going to do next."

Corrigan: Ouch. "Sorry, I'll try and be more predictable then." I said sarcastically. "What do you expect I'll do next?"

Autumn: "I don't know. You sound a little mad right now."

Corrigan: I make sure to keep my voice calm and sound pleasant. "That's not much of a prediction, Autumn. What do you think my being 'mad' will cause me to do?"

Autumn: "I don't know...leave? Something? Look, Corrigan, I'm not a fortune-teller. I don't know." I took a deep breath. "You're unpredictable."

Corrigan:"Oh, so you want me to leave? Okay, here I go." I sped up my pace and walked ahead of her.

Autumn: I grabbed his shoulder and pushed him against the wall. "I swear, Corrigan, if you do that again I'll kill you."

Corrigan:"Whoa, no need to get violent." I gently pulled her hand away with ease.

Autumn: "I'm not kidding."

Corrigan:"And I'm not either. If you want my help, or whatever it is you want that I haven't quite figured out yet, then you can't exactly slit my throat."

Autumn: I hang my head and drop my gaze. "I don't want anything from you."

Corrigan: "Then why am I here?"

Autumn: "I don't know. Why are you still here?"

Corrigan:"Because you asked me to stay."

Autumn: "Then that's why you're here, okay? Not because I need you. Because I asked you to."

Corrigan:"Which I don't understand. Why would you want me here?" I'd never been wanted anywhere or by anyone before, only needed.

Autumn: "I don't know. I'm so confused. I can't let you go."
