and then the warden was interested in using Sanae...maybe Crooks and Quincy uses that to strike a bargain?

"He's a frequent employer." Aloe muttered her forehead furrowing. She strode over to the upholstered chair that sat in front of a dying fire-place. "Damn..." The old man lay dead, his throat slit open. Aloe closed his eyes and hung her head. He was still warm. "Come out now you bastard." She said evenly.

Annaleah winced and looked away from the old man, stepping further into the room. Her stomach turned over. She'd seen blood spilt before...but that didn't mean she'd gotten used to it. Her eyes flitted throughout the place, looking for a shadow, a sign.

And Crooks isn't with them in the house, right...? That wouldn't make sense, even though it would make for some drama.

Yeah, I guess he left after speaking to Quincy over the phone right?

Over the phone? I think she was with him...

but anyhoo. How to continue this? I really like what we have going, but if Crooks isnt there...

Hm. Well I think it could make sense if he slipped into the mansion, killed the old man after talking to Quincy, and left. That would leave her in the house. Which would be fun. The issue is B&W Isnt here

Hm...when I was replying I didn't think they were in the mansion, I thought they were in Crooks's place or something. But I guess we could make that work...except yeah, we would need BW for that. Maybe...one of his little minions are in there? used as a messenger or something?

Or ooh! Ooh! Maybe the little minion is masquarading as Crooks, so that Aloe and whatnot follow him to find out more about the enemy and he leads them astray on purpose. False clues

A sound echoed from down the hall. Soft footsteps. Annaleah glanced at Aloe to see if she'd heard it, too, and crept to the door. It had come from just down the hall, near the staircase.

Aloe: Aloe placed her hand on Annaleahs shoulder making her jump, and brushed past her. "Don't be shy." she growled into the darkness.

Annaleah peeked out from behind Aloe. It was so faint in the dark that only a trained eye could see it. A fleeting silhouette darted from a room, flitted through the dust and slid down the stair banaster to the floor below. "There!" Annaleah said, brushed past Aloe and darted down the hall, down the stairs, and stopped. The silence was deafening. The front door hadn't been opened. She felt Aloe's presence behind her. She glanced around.

Aloe: My ears and eyes strained for any hint of life. I knelt down slowly,and exstracted my knife from my boot. Everything was black on black. I waited patiently for my vision to adjust. There! I flicked my knife forward, pinning the figures sleeve to the wall.

I eye them curiously. "I could have done it."
