Those stupid people.... They wouldn't ever listen to her father. No matter how much he tried to explain.... Ann calmed down and look ed the people. "How old are you two?"

psssst 'CHARACTER CHAT!!!!'

Chris glanced at Aeshela before answering. "Nineteen."
"Seventeen," Aeshela answered. "That means we were sixteen and fourteen when Cross broke out." She paused a moment.
"How'd you get it?" Chris asked suddenly. His gaze was hard as he stared at her. "When?"
She looked away. "I was fifteen. I had been running for two years already. I didn't know what the scar was, because i wasn't really keeping up with the news. But then those people started coming after me. That girl from before...I had seen her before. I think she might have seen my scar the last time. If i got caught, i'd be sure to be killed."

*huh. I pictured chris as a 15 year old.... XD ok then

"I still don't understand wh they're still chasing us!" Ann whispered angrily, here eyes wide with fear. Aeshela looked at Chris, wondering who should explain.

Chris opened his mouth a moment and then shut it the next. he tried again but still had the same result.
Aeshela got annoyed with him. "It mutates people," she said after another one of his attempts. "It turns them. They die soon after but before..." it was funny for her to talk of her future this way. "It's unpredictable. I've seen people turn after a day and i'm still here after these three years."
Aeshela glanced over at Chris. He knew why he had killed his girlfriend now. The only way the baby could have had it was if she had it. They're totally normal before though...which meant that she had changed. The baby would have died anyway, she remembered him saying. She must have not had that long.

Chris nodded, seeing as he couldn't speak. "And now they're out tracking those who havent been infected..." Ann finished, her voice glum as she looked down sullenly. These last words finally pushed Chris to speak.
"Which reminds me... we probably shouldn't stay here long. There's still a risk of infection...."
Ann shook her head right as Aeshela nodded. "Not here," she said. "This place was nearly burned to the ground, all the last traces were either burned in the fire or have died from not having a host for a period of time. Chicago's probably safest. Out in the open gives them a better chance at finding us..."

Chris paused a moment. Did he really trust this girl enough to listen to her judgment? She seemed to know what was going on around here better than he. "Fine," he said stiffly. it's not like he had much choice. It looked to be two against one in this situation. Aeshela was fully for this girl.

So, taking the lazy way out? Fine, but it'd probably make more sense if you read it. It is sort of like a book-in-progress after all

We follow our main charrie Chris into an abandoned warehouse, where he meets Aeshela. She get frustrated because he led the bad people right towards them. THey go running, the bad people follow, but they fight back and lose them. They end up in Chicago, where they meet Ann and get into the plot.

When she was younger, she got really sick and her father - being the super scientist that he was - decided to try and make an antidote for whatever she had. The antidote ended up being a super bio-weapon, which infects people. Apply named Cross, because it makes a cross like scar on the person infected. People are scared of it because of some yet-undetermined flaw later on in the infection that can strike at any time - so far we've said that it mutates people and turns them, but they end up dying soon afterwords anyway. Those people that chased Aeshela and Chris were looking for uninfected people to create a safe society away from the disease, but kill all others with the scar - which Ann and Aeshela have.

Wait then why's chris running...?
