7 Minutes In Heaven

Woops, sorry, I didn't see you guys responded! I have no idea how I overlooked that.

Rome: The hurt was so obvious on her face, I felt it myself.
Why the hell can't we?
Right. School tomorrow. That will be when. It will be new and fresh and wonderful and amazing. . . .
A lump was rising in the robe. Blushing madly, I tightened the robe over it. I was mostly naked after all.
"Why don't we go to sleep now so tomorrow can come faster? School will be dreadful."

Bekka: "Just show me to your car. I can sleep in the guest room, if it'd make you more comfortable that . . . the alternative," I say softly.
The outside air is making me cold and calming my stomach. I can't stop thinking about school tomorrow, how everything is going to be so different.
And weird.
I almost sigh and push back my hair.

Ally
I give a small smile, even though i know it doesn't reach any other part of my face. "Okay," i say softly, settling under the covers more. I swallow and look away from him, closing my eyes.

Rome: Sleep closes around me quicker than I would have thought. When I wake up, sun is streaming in through the windows in blueish rays, color muted by clouds.
I roll over and see the time. We've got an hour before school, and the drive there takes half that time from Rosetta's house.
"Ally? Wake up, we've got to go . . "

Ally
I blink awake and look over to Rome, over at the clock. Thoughts lag, what was i doing here again...? Right, Rosetta's party. And still naked. The awkwardness finally hits me as i simply nod, standing from the bed and taking my cloths from the floor, retreating into the bathroom for him to change.

Rome: I can almost sense Ally being uncomfortable as she practically runs to the bathroom. Shit, is she gonna be in there forever again? I needed to look good, too.
I dig through some drawers and find dust. I'll have to wear the clothes from last night to school. Embarrassing, but I'll live. Not like I was trying to impress anyone but Ally, though I was hoping to find some sort of leopard print speedo to surprise her in the closet today . . .
Well, I knew with girls, after having a night with you, they want space. So, today I'd give her space, until break after lunch . . . Then Ally would need to be with me for a while . . .
I'm finger combing my hair in the mirror as I stare at the door.
"Ally, you alright?"

Ally
I wash off the makeup from last night and just go natural today, dampening my hair quickly and tying it up in a neat bun. Reversible dress gave a somewhat new look, not that i was seen much during the party anyway. I open the door and smile to Rome, feeling a bit more comfortable in clothes. "Yeah, go ahead. I'll meet you at school then?"

Rome: I widen my eyes. Even looking so simple, she was . . . Beautiful.
Weird of me to think that. I usually just looked at girls as hot, which most girls I looked at were. But Ally wasn't just hot . . .
"I could drive you, if you want," I stumble out, somehow a bit nervous.

Ally
"I've got my car here," I say, a small smile forming at the somewhat bashful face he has on right now. I take a step forward and peck his cheek. "Don't worry now, i'm not running away."
I let my small smirk turn into a full smile, turning to the door. "Just text me when and where."

"Uh, there isn't exactly a guest room... I live in a pretty small apartment building, right within the limits of the city. Like I said, it's only a few blocks away, but it's not in the suberb. I'll take the couch in the main room" I offered

Bekka: A mean though hissed at me, So now he's crippled AND poor? You'd be stupid to be seen with him. If you date him, you'll probably never even make it past first base.
I felt betrayed by my own mind. It was uncomfortable.
"Sounds, um, great. I'll just wear these clothes tomorrow. Cool, you live on your own. So, can we, um, drive now?" I say in a rush, not wanting my voice to betray me as well and somehow speak the nasty thoughts.

Jonas
I was too good at reading people for my own good, a skill I picked up during the protests "Bekka... you're embarrassed by me, aren't you" it was more of a statement

Bekka: My mouth drops a bit. How did he know? Can he read my mind? Fuck.
"No. Just a thought of . . ."
Of what, Bekka?
Where ever that voice is from, probably hell, it really has to stop.
"A thought from . . . Who I used to be, I guess. Just ignore it."
I better not lie. Better be honest so he knows.
"What I mean is I'm used to rich, popular, perfect guys, and you're not any. No offense. Jonas, you're better than that. You're a lot more than them," I whisper.
My gaze can't meet his face. Now he probably doesn't like me. I seem like a brat. Well, I have to be honest. I look over at his car.
"We better hurry. School tomorrow."
You're not going to tell anyone about him, are you? Deny what you said to Ally, that you were drunk?
Stupid voice.
For whatever reason, Ally's name sends a ping through me.
A warm ping.
WHAT THE HELL?
"Yeah, we better hurry."

Jonas
"Ah... okay" I looked down at my scuffed shoes, then back up to her "Let's go, I left my car back at the party" I didn't have anything else to say, really... her eyes said it all.

Bekka: Shit, he is way offended.
Suddenly, I'm starting to doubt myself. That warm fuzzy feeling he gave me, making me thing all about him and I'd totally changed . . . Well, I had some alcohol, hadn't I? It must have been an influence. Now that feeling was just awkwardness. Great, a long silent car drive together.
Super.
"Sure. It's not a long walk."
And a walk with him, as well.
Awesome. Just awesome.

Jonas
I sighed again, running a hand through my hair. What did you expect, idiot? That the beautiful, popular... perfect girl, would just suddenly run off with a poor cripple because of one kiss? Maybe the cop should have aimed a little farther to the right. I started walking in the direction of the party

Bekka: We'd been walking for five minutes and no words. Silence. I could feel Jonas being . . . regretful? Pitiful?
I stopped.
"Jonas," I said in a low hush.
Then I turned, grabbing his good arm and turning him to me.
My lips brushed against his, waiting for that current, the buzz I got . . .
. . .
I pressed my lips slightly harder against his . . .

Can't kiss either. Loser. Bekka, you were so drunk, let him go. Much hotter guys than him.
Desperate for a feeling, I wrap my arm in his, the bad one.
The metal is too cold. I pull back. It's like ice. I stumble back and stare in his eyes, obviously hurt.
Are you fuckingMAD at him? Ridiculous. Just leave now.
I gulp.
"Um."

Jonas
I saw the conflict... and repulsion in her eyes. My own hurt shone through mine, "B-Bekka..." My robotic arm never felt cold to me until then, but when I felt her flinch away from it, it felt as chilling as death. "I-I..."

Bekka: I felt him hurting.
What did I feel?
Nothing. Really nothing. Not anymore.
Maybe just the smell of that drink intoxicated me, and when I threw up . . .
Yes, right after I threw up, that junk leaving my stomach, I felt different about him.
Oh.
I looked at him a bit closer.
I had kissed him?
Now I felt awful, wrong, betraying . . . To all my friends.
"Maybe I should go home," I say in a monotone voice.

Jonas
"Yeah" I whispered, when you whispered your voice couldn't crack "maybe you should" Then I turned and ran, concentrating on nothing more then the street lights, and trying to numb my mind

Bekka: Why didn't I feel like crying?
Whatever. Jonas was a cripple. I had to get over this, and a part of me already had.
I was drunk and acting stupid.
It was weird, that voice seemed to agree with me now.
I got out my cellphone and dialed my mother to come pick me up. In the car ride home, I chattered about the party with Rosetta. It was nice being open with my mom.
"Bekka?" She asked seriously.
"Um, yeah?"
"You and that Ally girl, are things . . . alright between you two?"
I looked over at her puzzled.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, did you two break up?"
"Mom, we're not dating!" I laughed.
"Oh."
She looked at the road seriously and I felt awkward. Dating Ally? Where'd she get that idea?
When I got home, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow, and didn't dream a thing.
