Re: C. D. - character development
Leslie
I felt a magical presence overhead and looked up.
"Oh. Wow. Okay then."
Big floaty blue energy thing in the sky. Who in the Hell set that off? I sniffed the air, finding no traces of Hell magic scent. Okay, so nobody in Hell set that off. So who in Heaven did? I took a long whiff again, but I couldn't smell anyone other than Mundane.
But that would mean... I thought, breaking off. How would a Mundane get his hands on magic? I'd better find out what this guy knows... Now to get up there without attracting too much attention.
I readied a bit of magic, looked up at the roof of the building, and drew my hand back as though I were about to throw something up to the top. I flung my hand high; the grappling hook and line, still forming out of the converging shadows, soared to the roof. The hook hit the edge with a clank! and did not fall back down. I tugged at the line, a satisfied smile touching the corner of my mouth when it held firmly. I willed the shadows to meld around my hand and wrist. Giving the line one last tug, I shot upwards.
I grabbed the edge of the roof, the shadows dispersing as I climbed up. I looked across the way at the floaty blue box thing. From up here, I was about at the same level.
"Yo!" I called, cupping one hand around my mouth and waving the other. "Don't ya think that whole box thing is a little obvious? Maybe you should come over here, dismiss that spell, and tell me where you stole that magic from!"

Conor:
"My name is Conor, I can travel between dimensions and gain powers from there, I am a Soulreaper, a Kekkaishi, and an Alchemist" I say. "Would you like to go down to a roof?"

Re: C. D. - character development
((For the sake of simplicity, I'm assuming you flew over to the roof that Leslie's on.
Also, condog, I feel the need to whack Conor very hard with the Sue-Hammer until he is a squishy, pulpy mess. Just sayin'.))
Leslie
I stormed over to the Mundane that was using the magic, my face drawn into an angry frown.
"Where did you steal that magic from?" I demanded. "Out with it right now, while I'm still in a good mood!"

"You may not have," I said to the girl, "but he did!" I turned to the blue energy box Mundane, pointing in accusation. "You Mundane can't make your own magic. You can only take magic that already exists! Now if you would just own up and fork over your ill-gotten supply, I won't drag you into court."
I'd heard it said that, long ago, Mundane could use their own magic. Somehow, over the years, they forgot how to do it and eventually stopped believing in it. Poor things have pitifully short memories. Nowadays, they turn to science. Even though some science may accomplish the same things as magic, it'll never truly replace magic. At least, not in my opinion.
Occasionally, however, a Mundane will stumble upon a magic source, be it a spellbook or a spell-circle. Alchemists of old would try to reverse-engineer spell geometry and use it for their own purposes. Pagans were pretty notorious for using magic, too. And now this guy standing before me was showing off his nifty powers, which undoubtedly did not originate in the Middle World. So where did he get them?

I made that back-of-the-throat "hhgk" noise of annoyance.
"Mortals," I clarified. "You're mortals. We call you 'Mundane.'"

"And you're not one?" shouted Evan from the ground, they had landed on the art gallery roof.
"Evan!" Cassie shouted down to him. "Where did you come from?"
"You're on the roof of the art gallery!"
--------------–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––---------------------------------------------------------------
A flash of light came out of the darkness and the trio landed on the ground.
"Where are we?" asked Andrew, picking himself up.
"Uhhhh......" started Ezra, but was cut of by Andrew.
"YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE WE ARE?!" shouted Andrew.
"Uh....no I'm afraid." said Ezra. "Might as well look around."

((The Sue-hammer... I agree with you on that one. Also, is it anything like the Axe of Righteous (or other random adjective) Editing? V---
Furthermore, I'm lost. What's just happened?))

Re: C. D. - character development
((I haven't heard of the Axe of Righteous Editing, actually.
I don't know a whole lot. My new character just arrived due to arcane spell failure. She felt magic being used and went to the source (the Marty-Stu), firmly believing that the magic was stolen (she could tell that it was being used by a Mundane--aka mortal). We're all (I think it's all) now standing on the roof of the art gallery. I'm waiting for condog's reply.))

Re: C. D. - character development
(Aliens or skippers kind attacked dan...dan saved us...connor came in...and leslie says he stole magic...and I brought my trio in so now I have 5 characters to take care of)
Re: C. D. - character development
((I would swap Skipper out, but I don't want everyone to be stranded on an alien planet. Thinking about it, most of them can get away and those who can't can cadge a lift, I suppose.
The Axe of Righteous Editing is a private joke of mine, for when I edit a friend's work. I ask them if they just want me to 'take a look' at it, or break out the Editing Axe.))

((With a minor character from Still Waters, called Mirochai-Neptuna. Think Dagon crossed with Cthulhu crossed with Khorne, Nurgle and Medusa.

Does that clarify things?))
