Character Wall
Ok, I'm making a character wall for Ezra. I need help with his personality, is there anything that you have seen in my posts that you believe is missing in his characterization? Here's what I have so far...
Personality: Sarcastic, witty, hot-headed, stubborn, pessimistic, secretive, angsty

Re: Character Wall
I know you asked me to post on this; but I can be a little too critical at times... so I'm pleading the fifth.

Pleading the fifth? I don't understand...please feel free to be critical...i need help...
Re: Character Wall
She's pleading the Fifth Amendment. 'Tis the right to remain silent when one is asked questions that one feels will incriminate oneself. Basically, she doesn't want to say anything because she fears the result of speaking.

I have an excuse for not knowing that. It exists under a very different name in English law.
I've noticed that Ezra is actually quite bitchy occasionally. Especially about Andrew.

The only thing on this list that I've seen from him so far is the "pessimistic" aspect...and it's more than just on certain occasions. It seems to be all the time.
Also, there are a few very prominent aspects of his character that you didn't have on this list... I mean this in the nicest of ways... He's angsty, can occasionally whine, complains an awful lot about...well, everything really... And yeah, like Regret said, he gets bitchy in matters concerning Andrew. And that happens more than just occasionally.
So...yeah...

Re: Character Wall
Yeah...he's what I like to call "anit-social" unless he lets you see his good side. Regret was right though XD
Re: Character Wall
Erm, he's not exactly anti-social. Anti-social would be avoiding people and going to sit in a room alone. Ezra just...doesn't display the personality aspects that you've set for him. It's not a matter of how sociable he is; they'd still come through either way. But they're not doing that.

Re: Character Wall
*head hits desk* Why?! Why can I never get him right?! How do I fix that? I suck at this.... -.-"
Re: Character Wall
Um...I mean this in the nicest of ways, but...he always seems like an emokid because of the melodrama. All...the...melodrama... And claiming that everything is his fault even when it's not, and trying to center the attention on himself, and kicking up pity-parties...I could go on.

Re: Character Wall
I put him in a bad light then. He is responsible for some of those things. He had a hard childhood and blames himself when things go wrong because he carried so much responsibility and was blamed. I didn't mean to make him egotistic. -.-"""'
Please continue......
How do I fix this?

Right, it's included in the Miranda Rights when one is arrested, also. I watch too many crime shows, and my dad's a lawyer...

Re: Character Wall
Yeah. Good shows. I just didn't get what you meant I understand now. I know the fifth amendment I just didn't get "pleading the fifth". I need a way to fix Ezra....
Re: Character Wall
I've decided I'm not going to give up on him. He's now my main priority to fix. I'm going to start shifting gears with him.
Re: Character Wall
I know a bit.
In what areas is he most mary-suish?
Also, as a pointless addendum, I believe that the male counterpart is gary-stu or marty-sue, depending on personal preference. Now THAT'S pedantry.

Gary-Stu, Marty-Stu, Gary-Lou...there are many variations

Ezra is a Sue, yes. To enlighten yourself, take a look at this TV Tropes page that details common Mary-Sue traits.

Re: Character Wall
I find the best way to deal with a suish character is to dissect their personality and scrutinise every last gear and wheel of thought. Perhaps you should outline the suish aspects of Ezra. After all, I am not very familiar with him.
