"There's a thin log over here, if we lean it against something we could start some sort of lean-to." I say, looking at the direction where his voice came from. Hey, the first thing anyone built when stranded on an island in tv or books was a lean-to.

"That was the plan..." I mutter to myself. Good God, not everyone's lacking common sense in the world. ...They just state the obvious... "Bring it back to the beach!" I test the edge of the blade I had been working on before cutting some two dozen large leaves off a nearly bush, then dragged them through the path I had made through the foliedge back to the open sand. I throw the vines I had collected atop them so they wouldn't blow away. Fate would screw me over like that after everything else its given me today, I decided.

I pick up one end and begin to drag it back to the beach. It's not too large that I couldn't bring it back by it's self...but it is bigger than me length wise.

Whoa. Something had talked to me. I mean, it was a sign that Papa was right and that I need to do the mind stuff more like Erin but still... something said hello. Focusing I spoke back.

Oh. Good. At least he wasn't all paranoid like his sister. ...I don't think they can hear the thoughts I don't consciously send... Hi. Er...care to come down...? Where I can see...? Sun was being obnoxious through the leaves...

Alright... Wood pile was good... "Climb trees?" I ask him, gesturing up to the palms of coconuts and green bananas. I had brought some bamboo stalks back before with more of the large leaves. Time to set something up then. I unfasten my cloak now that I didn't have to worry about any weird thorns or poisonous whatever.

Lee --

Grinning a little I looked to Erin, wondering if I should tell her to move down as well.
"Something said that we should move down so it can see us. I'm going to do it cause it sounded nice."
That said I quickly dropped down through the air, using my wings to keep the fall from being too fast. Landing lightly on the ground I looked around with curiosity.
I'm down now...

Well, nice to know I sounded...nice. I see that, I send the kid, walking up and pricking my ears up in his direction. Talking wolf, totally normal and nonthreatening... Er... Tail wag...?

I touched down next to Lee.

"Y-yeah, th-this is Maka..." I managed. "You...don't have to th-think to her... She can j-just hear you..."

When the wolf came towards me my eyes got huge, then Erin said she had a name. So that meant she was a girl, with a name. Names were good, if you wanted to be friends you had to have names. If you have names then you are friends cause then you know each other, unless the other person was a Starlighter or something like that, cause then they were bad and not good so they can't be friends.

"I'm Lee." I said, although if she'd been here she might already know that. "You're an animal. How come you're an animal and I can hear you? Erin can talk to them but I can't cause I'm not her, so how come I can hear you?"
I paused, my eyes going huge.
"DOES THIS MEAN I'M LIKE ERIN NOW? THAT'S AWESOME."

Errrrrr...little child screaming at me... My ears flick back at the volume, wincing pained slightly. Uhm. No, I'm not an animal... At least that's what Mom said to say. We weren't beasts... I shift, standing there with my one arm across me gripping my other arm. "Hi. Again..."

Erin

"She just turns into a wolf, Lee," I said. "And y-you know P-Papa can talk to Lilani w-without animal powers..." Maka wasn't as much of a stranger anymore, so I was starting to feel less nervous now. I didn't like how I stammered when I got nervous or scared...

And then she was a person. A girl person, just like the name and all that meant. Maka was a girl person that wasn't old though so that means that there still aren't any adults so there still wasn't someone who would know where Papa was and that was bad.

"Oh. Sorry then. And Hello again. Um... do you know where any old people are? I was looking for my Papa or Mama, cause they'd know where we were but they're not here so that's bad so we should find older people cause they could find Mama and Papa like that one lady did that one time that I sneaked out."

Old people. Adults. ...I was more worried about my brother, because he was himself and half my soul, and he never seemed to care about that... But adults would be nice too. "I don't sense any adults nearby... Those I had before were younger, like us, when I looked."
