The Pendant

Serene - I stepped forward and took the pendant off of it's display case, "This pendant holds magic beyond belief," I say with a smile, "and only one person can hold that power, the chosen one. The pendant picks the person. You are competing to see who is the chosen one, and there will be more people coming. Don't be so sure of yourself Luke," I comment.

alice: i look at the pendant i wanted it but i didn't let it show on my face

Serene - I laughed a little, "Well," I look at Alice, then at Luke. "I'll take you two to your rooms so you can get your stuff situated. Jake, you take Courtney."

Jake - "With pleasure," I smiled, "Would you like to go see your room?" I asked Courtney.

looks - straight, dark brown hair with gray-blue eyes. She wears a white dress, thigh high, and always has on her mossy green guy's sweatshirt. The door creaked open as she slipped in and then shut it silently behind her. Her hood shaded her eyes, which sighted the pendent and then looked away. She wouldn't be the greedy one here. If it picked her, so be it but she didnt really care if it did. Her pack weighed on her shoulder: a simple draw string back that held all her belongings.

Serene - I saw another girl come in "Hi, I'm Serene and you are?"

Luke: I shrugged. "I'm just putting myself out there. Saying I'd probably be the best."

Serene - "Probably being the key word," I wink.

Jake - "Then follow me," I say picking up her bag to carry for her.

Luke: So that meant I was in? I smiled at her. "Could you show me to where I'll be staying?"

Courtney: I smirked. "Arent you sweet."

Serene - "Sure," I say knowing that his room is right next to mine, "Follow." I say.

Jake - "I try to be," I tell her.

Courtney: I ran a hand through my hair then brought it back and plopped down on the bed. "So. How do I win?"

Luke: "Thanks very much." I knew she wasn't even in the competition, so forming a bond with her wouldnt really hurt me in the end.

Serene - "No problem, if you ever need anything, I'm in the room to your right." I tell him seriously.

Jake - "That's the thing, we don't even know, it's up to the Pendant, which happens to be a family heirloom," I think about how I hope she won so that she and I could get married. That was how it went, whoever was chosen married into the family, my father had been chosen last.

Can i join this?

Luke: "Sweet," I grinned. "I'll get settled then."

Courtney: I puckered my lips and sat cross-legged in thought. "And there's really nothing I can do to change that?" It was pretty powerful. And I wanted it.

Serene - "See you at dinner, it's at 6 sharp, be there or you won't eat," I say.

Jake - "Nope, it's really more about who can handle both the pendant and our family. Whoever wins the pendant marries into the family with no exceptions." I admit, "That is why there are always twins that are born from the parents, so that either a boy or a girl may be chosen. My father was chosen last time."

Courtney: I stared in confusion. "Only one kid's allowed to marry?" That seemed dumb.

Luke: At first I thought it was a joke, but her mind said otherwise. "O-kay."

brb... at most 20 mins

Serene - "Sorry, my mother is a bit of a control freak," I laugh.

Jake - "The other kid can marry, but they don't get any powers, after the chosen one marries the other sibling the one left becomes completely mortal. They no longer matter." I say seriously. If a girl wasn't chosen I would be disowned.

Courtney: My eyes widened. "But that's terrible!" I pouted. "At least they aren't shunned forever into some... dark abyss. They still get to find love." I smirked and switched my position so I was laying down on my stomach. "Damn... are these like, temperpedic or something?"

Luke: I laughed and nodded. "I know the type."

Serene - "I bet," I say, "everyone knows one of them."

Jake - "Yeah, my mom says they are the best," I tell her.

Courtney: "They are," I mutter, rolling onto my back and looking at his upside-down figure. "Very comfortable, actually."

Luke: I grinned. "I mean I really do. Saw her thoughts, and such."

Jake - "Yeah, they are, aren't they," I smile. "We better head down for dinner."

Serene - "Course you did mind reader," I tease and head out the door, "we might want to go down for dinner, if we're late she really won't let us eat."
