I look at the guy, "Man, I realy didn't know."
Jacob: I shrugged and gave her my crooked smile. "It's alright, most people don't know." I lowered my voice "No one's really supposed to, so could you keep it a secret for me?"

I smile. "I guess I can do that." I start walking towrds the drinks. I was needing one. Johnny, my close freind, wouldn't mind. He was the bartender tonight.

Jacob: "So what noble family are you from?" I say walking with the girl, not wanting to return to my bus boy duties. And besides, the Livingstons had already seen me mingling with the guests, I'd worry about the punish mean later.

I thought of my dad last night, and hearing my mothers crys. "The McKings," I say, not wanting to go into detail. "Your not a nobile, but what's your name?"

Jacob: "Ahh, I've heard of your family." I shifted uncomfortably at her question. "No, you're right, I'm not a noble. I'm a bus boy and my name's Jacob. I really should be calling you Madame and waiting on you, not talking to you." I sighed.

"That would be the same old. This is how I like it," I look into his eyes, "equalls." We get to the bar and I tell Johnny I want the usual, I look at Jacob, "You want anything? My treat."

Jacob: "I don't know if being "equals" is really the best idea." I sigh and then hear her question "Uh, no thanks. I don't drink." I feel sheepish, who doesn't drink at these events? Well, I really don't, since I'm never invited.

"Then as close as it gets," I say. Then stand there and start sipping the hard liquer in front of me. Probably not a good choice, seens how my father would yell if he found out I was drinking again. Oh well, he would more than likely yell anyways.

Jacob: "I don't really think there's a happy medium..." Then my brow furrows and I smile a little bit. "You never told me your first name."

"It was my mothers maiden name. She thinks of my as her way to remember her past, freedom." Well, that slipped.

Jacob:"Freedom? Don't the nobles have plenty of that?" I cock my head to the side, not catching on to her flub-up. The servants told stories of what it was like to be a noble: huge mansions, fine clothes, riches. Tales of the nobles were like fairy tales to us.

"Nothing. Is it weird for you to get to go to these parties?" I hopped I was being subtle, knew he would notice.

Jacob: I noticed her sudden subject change, and figured there must be a reason, so I went along with it. "Yeah, servants usually have to be catering to the guests at the balls. Technically I'm not supposed to even be at this one, but a noble asked me to dance, so I couldn't really refuse. Mr. Livingston will probably punish me later, but I figure I'll enjoy it while it lasts, right?" I smile and shrug.

Jacob: I blinked, I had never given changing my lifestyle much thought, to be honest. "But...this is just how it is. My family has been the servants for the Livingstons since they moved here, and they've been our employers. There's no other way, there's no way out. This is how the Grevers will live until the end of time." Or the end of the Livingstons, I silently added. I doubted the most powerful family was going anywhere anytime soon, though.

Re: The Ball of a Lifetime
Erich went through a sidedoor of the ballroom. He glanced around, assessing the exits. Confidant of his ability to escape if need be, he looked around for the stage. There it was, on one wall of the ballroom.
Slinking out of sight in the shadows, Erich made his way to the stage. Going behind the curtain, he began to prepare his act.
