Re: Mutant Fun
Jinx gripped her hand back, deciding to take her opinion on the matter rather than argue. If worst came to worst, since she was right there he could always create a shield around the two of them if something bad happened. Plus, she had her speed and he had his invisibility, even if he'd have to strip to be completely invisible.
They'd be safe no matter what happened.
Decision made, he quickly followed Wes, who only spared them a quick glance. The strange boy had his hands shoved in his pockets and was glancing around them. Jinx had the unsettling feeling that the boy wasn't a stranger to bad situations from the way he seemed to know what he was doing.
"Parked the car over here," Wes said after a moment, ducking into an out of the way alley. "Didn't know why, guess now I do. Jump on in."
After he'd finishes speaking, Wes pulled out a set of keys and the car beeped and lit up. He hadn't been lying about having a nice car.

Re: Mutant Fun
Jinx looked at her brother before hopping in, taking the middle seat in the front. She tossed her bag on her lap and looked over at Jive, waiting for her to sit before she put her bag at his feet.
"Are you some sort of mutant as well?" She finally asked him, looking over at Wes. It had bothered her this entire time, but the way this guy talked and how he acted like he knew what would happen. Or at least had a vague idea. Being a mutant was a plausible explanation for his behaviors and would explain why he would be headed to the school as well.
As she situated herself in the seat, Jinx pulled her goggles off her face and placed them on top her head again, tightening the strap in the back so they stayed in place properly. Man did she love these things.

Re: Mutant Fun
"No!" Weston responded immediately, dropping his hands from the wheel to face her. It'd only taken him moments to get into the driver's seat. His car was almost like a second skin for him, although perhaps home would be a better word for it. After-all, Wes lived out of it most of the time.
The look on his face was astonishment, although he knew that he probably should have expected the question. Most people asked it, then assumed that they were right even after he informed them they were wrong. "Hell no. Just a normal guy. Just get feelings."
After he'd spoke, he made sure that both of his guests were in the car and turned his attention to starting it up.
"Popular guess is that I'm just really smart."
Well, that was the guess under the guess that he was a mutant. Most people who knew him for more than a few seconds didn't think he was smart at all- just somewhere near crazy.

Re: Mutant Fun
"Alrighty then." She couldn't shake the feeling that this guy might have been hiding something, but she could be wrong. "Aint nothing wrong with being a mutant. We're pretty cool if you ask me."
Jive looked over at her brother and grinned at him. Once he was situated, she plopped her bag at his feet.
"So, you actually know where we are going?" Getting into this car with him was starting to feel like less and less of a good idea. But her and Kai could handle it. Maybe.

Re: Mutant Fun
"Sort of."
It wasn't like Weston was going to up and tell them that all he had was images. They'd begun putting themselves together from the moment that he saw the two mutants, and only now did he have enough of an idea to understand that it was the knowledge of where to go that he'd said he'd had. The images weren't that bad. He'd had worse moments.
"And I have nothing against you guys personally, just prefer to keep myself out of these things. Excuse me if I don't embrace the idea of being a mutant, which I'm not."
As he spoke, he pulled out of the alley, focusing his attention on the road. Once he spotted the first landmark from the vague images, he felt himself relax slightly. Whatever was going on, it was under control.

Re: Mutant Fun
"Nothing against us you just are repulsed by the idea of being one of us?" Jive snorted, rolling her eyes at him. "You are really strange." She reached over again and took her brothers hand, glancing around as they started to drive.
So many things about this situation felt so very wrong. Why were they in a car with some guy that they didn't even know and quite honestly sent off some pretty bad vibes? Because she was stupid and didnt see many other options. At least she had most of everything of value to her in her bag. Hopefully Kai did as well.

Re: Mutant Fun
"Yeah, well..." Weston began, his eyes searching for the next landmark from the images fluttering through his mind. "I've been called worse. I'll settle for strange."
He frowned for a moment, but pulled off of the side-road and onto the main one when he caught sight of landmark from the images. Focusing on those for a moment, he frowned, trying to decide what time it seemed to be at the end of the trail, the picture that showed the name of that school.
"It'll take us a few hours to get where we're going. At the moment it doesn't seem like we'll have any problems, though."

Re: Mutant Fun
Jive looked over at her brother and nodded slowly. "Alright. I should warn you, if you try any sneaky creepy business with us, we reserve the right to use our mutant powers to toss out out of the car. Whether you are driving it or not."
She shifted in her seat slightly and leaned against her brother for comfort. So the two of them were awkwardly close, was that such a bad thing? Hopefully not.

Re: Mutant Fun
Jinx almost laughed at the comically outraged look that appeared on Wes's face.
"Hey, hey, you can do anything you want with me, but you do not take my car. This thing is my baby. You don't separate a guy from his baby. That just ain't right. Besides, everything's supposed to go fine."
Shaking his head instead of laughing, Jinx tucked his arm around Jive to hold her close since she leaned her head on him. It was a natural action to him, which honestly seemed to weird people out sometimes. Well, the ones who didn't find it oddly adorable. He just felt more comfortable that way.

Re: Mutant Fun
Jive couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. "Well, now I might just have to take your car, right Kai? I mean, only if you do something that really endangers us and gives me a reason to do something."
She snuggled into her brothers grip and glanced up at him. Ok, so they weirded people out a lot of the time with out they acted. But it was just how they were comfortable. It wasn't like they were anything other than siblings. People were just daft and romanticized everything when there wasn't romance there.

Re: Mutant Fun
Weston sighed, his hands tightening around the wheel.
"It's not like I plan on doing anything to mess anything up," he commented, running over the idea in his mind. "And I don't think that will change. I sometimes act without thinking because of a feeling, but I don't have any feelings that anything will go wrong right now. So don't worry and relax."
As soon as he'd finished speaking, he focused his attention back on the vague images he had of their course. They reflected what he said, no problems currently placed in their route. Well, except for his rumbling stomach that distracted from his focusing on the course.
"Oh yeah, if you guys are hungry there's a bag in the back seat full of snack food."
He'd bought them earlier with a bit of spare cash. Guess he now knew why he'd felt like leaving them in the car.

Re: Mutant Fun
Jinx looked into the back of the car and grabbed the bag, pulling out a bag of chips to share with Kai. Once she had a hold on it, she snuggled back into her brothers arm, and popped the bag open.
"Want one?" she offered the bag up to her brother, popping a chip into her mouth.

Re: Mutant Fun
Weston noted out of the corner of his eye that while the chips were offered to her brother, who accepted it gratefully, he didn't get offered anything. So much for taking care of the driver. Having a feeling that it'd be safe, he managed to grab something out of the sack while still keeping his other hand on the wheel.
A few hours and a few snacks later, he'd begun to come to the end of the route the images had led them on. Frowning, he managed to locate the last landmark and slowed down the car outside of a set of black gates.
There it was, the sign he'd seen in his mind.
"That's it," Wes commented lightly. "And I get the feeling there are a lot of mutants to be met in there. You'll fit right in."

Re: Mutant Fun
About half way through the ride, Jive found herself dozing off along side her brother. When the car began to slow she woke up, studying the structure ahead of them. So this guy wasn't lying.
She had more and more of a feeling that he was supposed to come with them, but it wasn't her place to say anything about feelings. Instead, she just grabbed her bag.
"Thanks for the lift. Sure you dont want to come with us? Make certain you aren't a mutant." She offered, passing Kai is own bag so he could get ready to get out of the car.

Re: Mutant Fun
Weston grimaced, giving a shake of his head.
"I'm no mutant," he muttered, but found himself pulling forward despite his words when the gates suddenly swung open. "Looks like you've got a welcoming committee."
His lips turned down in an annoyed frown as he realized that if he listened to those strange feelings of his like he normally did, he would end up agreeing to Anita's suggestion. He'd made it a rule to listen to them, it always ended up in his favor if he did. This, however, didn't seem to be something that he wanted in on.
"I agree with Anita," Kai spoke up, causing Weston to shoot him a surprised look. "You should come with us."
Weston opened his mouth to respond as he reached the end of the short drive, but closed the second that he realized there were several figures waiting for them.
"There's the committee," he commented lightly instead. "You should go say hello."

Re: Mutant Fun
"And you should come with us." Jive pointed out again, once the car stopped.
She looked over at the crowd of people who were standing there to meet them. Well, not really a crowd, but just a man and a woman, standing next to each other. Both of them looked to be in their middle ages from what Jive could tell, or at least that is what she was guessing. She was never good at guessing ages of people around her.
The lady walked over to them. She had flaming red hair, somewhat long. Not as long as Jive's, but it went way past her shoulders. She smiled sweetly at the three kids in the front seat, her hands folded in front of her.
"Welcome. The professor is expecting you three." Jive found herself glancing over at Wes, her expression clear as day. He should definitely come with them.
The man seemed to hang back, his hands folded behind him. Jive assumed he was looking straight ahead but she couldn't quite tell. his eyes were obscured by sunglasses.

Re: Mutant Fun
"Three?" Weston echoed. "I just brought those two. See? Two. One, two. If he's a professor he should be able to count."
Tearing his eyes away from Wes, Jinx grabbed his bag and opened his car door and got out. He figured that they could deal with convincing Wes now.
"We're here," he muttered under his breath to Jive, his eyes traveling past the two meeting them to the building standing up behind them. "We made it."
And if those two were any indication, they were welcome as well.

Re: Mutant Fun
"C'mon, dude, just come with us." Jive sighed at him, shaking her head slowly. "You are creepy enough to fit in." She shouldered her bag and hopped out of the car, not even bothering to open the door. Gotta love convertibles.
When Kai muttered down to her she couldnt help but smile.
"We did." She murmured back to him, looking around.

Re: Mutant Fun
Weston scowled, but turned off the vehicle despite the expression.
"I'm only creepy sometimes," he muttered under his breath.
That wasn't what was bothering him, to be honest. It was the fact that he had the feeling that leaving would be a really bad idea. His eyes flickered up to the building, his scowl working it's way into a deeper frown. It wouldn't hurt him to stay for a few moments, he decided. There was someone there he needed to meet, he just couldn't figure out who.
"Fine," he grumbled a bit louder, getting out of the vehicle the same way that Jive had one. "I'll come."
Reaching into the back, he grabbed the large duffle-bag that contained basically everything he cared about at the moment and tossed it over his shoulder, holding carelessly onto the strap with one hand.
"If it's alright to just leave my car right here," he commented, pocketing his keys with his free hand. "Then I guess I'm ready to follow you guys into whatever this is."

Re: Mutant Fun
"I can pull your car into the garage, if you wanted." The guy in sunglasses offered. Jive turned her attention to him, for some reason surprised that he spoke. For some reason he just striked her as the silent type. Maybe it was the sunglasses and the brooding stance.
She reached over and took her brothers wrist to keep him near by. They should be safe here, but it was a new place, and she had an uneasy feeling about new places.
"If you want Scott to move your car for you, he can return your keys later once you get settled." The red head told Wes, as if she was trying to reassure him that nothing would happen to his car or his keys.

Re: Mutant Fun
Jinx felt a smile tug onto his lips when Jive took his wrist. At least something wasn't changing, even if everything else was. The best way to feel comfortable was when they were together.
"I guess that'd be alright," Wes replied hesitantly, fishing the keys out of his pocket once again. It was obvious to anyone that he wasn't that sure about letting someone else drive his car. "Be careful with her."
And with that, he tossed his keys, and his last chance of leaving Jinx and Jive, to the stranger.
Stranger, Jinx realized suddenly. None of them had even bothered to introduce themselves. They'd showed up unannounced and hadn't even offered that little bit of formality.
"I'm... Jinx," he said quietly. "And this is my sister, Jive. Sorry to show up so... suddenly."
And that was about his limit when it came to speaking to strangers. He shook his wrist out of Jive's hold and took her hand instead, squeezing it to make sure that she understood. He wasn't the talking sort, normally he left that to her.

Jive glanced over at her brother and smiled up at him.
"We came pretty far, across country, to get here. Would've called ahead, but, well we didn't actually know a number to call." She shrugged and closed her hand around her brothers. For some reason, she had a feeling that even at a school of freaks, the way her and Jinx interacted wouldnt be so welcomed.
"It's no problem. Glad you guys got here safely." The red head smiled at the two of them. "I'm Jean. The one who is taking the car around back is Scott. We are professors here." Jive watched as sunglasses guy hopped into the car and started off around back, listening to Wes' instructions and being incredibly careful.

Re: Mutant Fun
"Hey, you forgot me," Weston protested after Jean had spoke. He shot Jinx an annoyed look and only received a shrug in response. "I'm Weston, and I'm just sticking around for a little bit. Professors, huh? Mind explaining just a bit more? It's sorta weird that you got out here before we even reached the door, you know?"
His words might have had a bit more of a barb to them than before, but it wasn't intentional. It was more of a result of how uneasy he was becoming. The idea of sticking around hadn't been his, yet he knew that it was becoming more and more obvious that it was what he was going to do. That, plus the fact he had a feeling there were more mutants here than just the two standing near him, made him even more uneasy than just the idea of staying in one place did.

"We teach here, at the school." Jean said, pointing behind them at the building. She turned to start walking in that direction, expecting the others to follow.
Jive walked along behind her, dragging Jinx along. Around them, she saw kids running about, ranging from all ages. Some no older than nine or ten, and others well into their later teen years.
"Professor X knew you guys were coming. We saw you arrive and decided to great you." She told them, glancing back and smiling. "I hope your trip was uneventful and safe."
"It was for the most part." Jive said, off handedly as they walked to the front doors of the building.

Re: Mutant Fun
Jinx gripped her hand a bit tighter when they began to see more and more people. He couldn't help the reaction and didn't doubt that if anyone looked directly at him, they'd realize he wasn't exactly easy to see right then. That's if they were able to see him at all.
"I hope you're not referring to me as an event," Wes commented after Jinx's response. "Or at least, I hope I count as a good one. Perhaps a charming one? Also, Jean, does this Professor X guy have an actual name? I mean, you called yourself by an actual name and you're a professor. So..."
