I set the sharp comb on her lap, and gave a grateful nod. She seemed nice, I'd see her at the ball? No, not likely. As long as my plan worked, the only person I'd be seeing was Mint, and a knife.
It was strange how I'd fully accepted my insanity. Also, how I'd be ending my own life tonight, along with another. Why I wanted to kill the boy was irrelevant. I just knew that I needed to, and that was that.
But first, I'd need to serve the food, to let all their guards down. I got off the bed, did a small bow, and walked out the door. I almost hopped down the stairs in the nice outfit, and realized I was . . . excited? Yes, I was excited for it to end, and it didn't disturb me in the slightest.
Alright, maybe a tad, but that sane part was buried now. I had to get the appetizers served to all the tables. All of them. At least that was all I had to do, no clean up.
I walked in the kitchen, feeling butterflies escape my throat in quick hiccups. My arms were full of fish plates as I took myself down an unfamiliar route, to the ballroom.

Gemma: I glanced up for a second, thinking nothing of it, but then quickly looked again. Lord Asher was stanging on something to gain a birds eye view. I smiled sheepishly, hoping it wasn't out of my place to smile at him. But, still, my eyes couldn't stop from taking in his outfit. It looked old, slightly destroyed, something that was intruiging. I wondered if I was the only girl who thought of him so fondly?

Arlo: I took a few more coats and I saw a girl who was strangely familiar. I blinked and realized at once that it was Linden. I half smiled, taking their coats and setting them on a rack. I wasn't sure if my mask kept me unidentified or if my silver eyes gave it all away.

Kay: I helped Mint get ready and pulled on the mask and ball attire he had given. I stood silent and tense.

Asher: I moved around on the paths, swinging around on the polls and waiting for the fun to begin. When the music started playing, I would make my way through the crowd. Tonight will be my night.

Linden: I smiled slightly and slipped out of my Masters arm, "I'll be right there," I whispered to him. He grumbled, but didn't argue with me. It was impossible to argue with me. I moved in front of Arlo, waving away someone who wanted to give him their jacket. Slowly, my fingers took hold of his mask and I lifted it off his face, "Hey there stealthy, are you going to save a dance for me?"

Mint: "Rat," I stood up from my chair, "I feel like there's...something weird here. If you see anything suspicious, please take care of it." I patted his shoulder lightly, being gentle with him in front of the people.

Kay: I flinch and move away fro his hand, "Yes sir."


Vasilisa: I set my bones back into place so they could heal properly, I took out my hair and grab a clip. I wince through the pain as I try to pick lock the door.

Gemma: One man walked to me and asked for a dance once the music begun. At first, I was completely baffled. Who would want to dance with-- Oh, I suppose he /might/ want to dance with clean Gemma. I politely declined and smiled, walking elsewhere.

(I think Gemma is just a little infatuated by Asher.)

Arlo: I grinned and nodded once. I took one of his hands, kissing it discreetly and setting him off. What had gotten into me? Notrmally, I wouldn't be seen so much as smiling at someone, but here, in this ridiculous outfit, I didn't mind.

Linden: I reattached myself with my escort for the evening, slipping my arm with his again. It was nice to see Arlo dressed up differently, he looked sophisticated and it drew me in.
Music started to pour through the room and a smile lit my face, I loved music. It drained everything else from our lives out and made us one with each other.


Mint: I frowned at his flinch, and the frown deepened when the music played. I hate music, it made me have a headache and my fingers twitch. I didn't understand how it soothed anyone when it made me so annoyed. My body fell back into my chair in a huff, and I folded my arms across my chest.

Henry: I carried Madame Evangeline's coat over to the racket myself and stood by a wall. It was strange being here, I've never been to a ball before, or seen other rich people. Sometimes they come over to talk with Madame about business, but I could never talk with them till now.

Asher: I leaned against the rail and watched as the candles in the room dimmed. The music floated through the air smoothly and I spun around on one heal one time, before moving toward the stairs.

Juloon

In the darkest areas of the wide ballroom, I set the carious plates of food on tables. My face was hidden by shadows, just how I needed. If I wanted to get Mint alone, how could I do so in such boring attire? I'd need something extravagant. Part of my plan, of course.
After carrying dozens of platters of food that was ready to eat, I dashed back to the halls. Up the stairs again, down a few corridors, finally in the washing room. I'd spent a lot of my days in this damp, blue walled cement room. There had better be something in here.
Aha! As I dug through baskets and baskets and /baskets/ of laundry from the castle, my fingers formed around silky fabric. Pulling it up from the fresh load, I held it up to the dim lightbulb. A slim, long sleeved turquoise dress, with a long train and delicate gold designs. I threw off my outfit and tugged on the fluffed dress, thankful it covered my arms and legs.
I looked in a fogged mirror. No, this wouldn't do, he'd know my face. You don't forget the face that's causing you to scream as if you're going to get murdered. I redid my hair into an up-do with the silver clip, a few brown tresses falling out, and fastened a gold eye-mask on my face that I found in a tiny drawer. This room really did have everything.
Good, I was ready.
Step 1) Get Mint alone.
The only way I could do that in this was to seduce him. I stuffed a little cotton down the front of the dress to make me look bustier, and started to go back to the ballroom, heading right for Lord Mint.

Gemma: I found one boy to dance with, tall and thin, with a shock of Ginger hair. We spun in circles, my gown flowing elegantly. I knew the only think my outfit needed was a smile. I smiled disarmingly and noticed that the boys eyes focused a little more on me.

Arlo: I was almost jealous watching Linden dance with the man. It was soft, a small pang deep in my stomach. I shook it off and returned to taking peoples coats, somewhat begrudgingly.
