It was about Klin playing this game competing for #1 spot on leader-boards, then his mother called him and he jumped and lost.

Grocery day, like every Thursday. Dad was too sick to buy them, and I didn't really mind. There were always interesting people at the grocery store, I liked to watch them and come up with stories.
Some of them turned into my imaginary friends, versions of them. Only for use when my real friends weren't around. If they knew about my imaginary friends, they would freak.
Especially if they knew about Clyde. He was my Prince Charming, since I didn't have one in real life.
But Clyde was real to me, so very real.
He talked to me as I bought groceries.

::Klin::

"Why can't I order them online?"
"You need fresh air, Klin! Don't argue with me!" Klin's mother wiggled a menacing in front of his face.
He backed off. His mother had hurt him before and she could do it again.
"Now hurry!"
Klin rushed out an a button on his wrist teleported him to the grocery store. He was plunked in the middle of the cheese isle.
He kept his eyes down, avoiding contact.

Lila: Dairy products, the doctor said Daddy needed dairy products. They had more advanced medicine than that, surely! But I think maybe it was the calcium. It was important to have calcium when you're sick.

"Why yes, Clyde, I think you should get a new horse for our sunset rendezvous."

"Where are we going tonight, Clyde? Oh, Bermuda? How lovely. Just not the triangle, please."

"What kind of cheese should I get?" I realized that last part came out as if I were talking to this boy next to me. Whoops.

Just what exactly are the boundaries the the eye screens?
We need to limit them so that the chat doesn't become TOO dependent on them.

What do you mean by limits?
I think they can just see others profiles, like facebook on their eyes. And maybe play games on them, or use them to access internet. Maybe Plume Points can get more advanced stuff on them, like night vision?

::Klin::
I looked beside me. Some girl was talking to herself.
Odd. Like me.
"Hi," I blush madly and mumble, wondering why I'm saying anything at all to this girl who may be crazy.
My hands drop the cheese I'm holding and for a moment I forget my family life and losing the number one spot. I just look at her and feel weird.

I think we should keep it, like, accessing the internet (so profiles and games). I'm not sure how to explain, I just don't want the whole thing to become about their eye screens.

Lila: I frowned and looked down at the cheese he dropped.
Then my face broke into a grin and I looked back up at him with a grin.
"I think that's a sign!"
I turned and selected a block of the same kind the guy had.

::Klin::
"W-What?" he stuttered, still beet red and nervous and a bit sweaty.
Klin never did talk to girls all that much. Actually, he never talked to anyone. This girl was strange but some part of him wanted to talk to her more. She was interesting.
But Klin was confused.

"Don't you see? The Gods of Cheese are trying to speak to us. They're telling me to take /that/ kind, by having you drop it. It all makes sense if you don't think about it too hard," I said, and I was dead serious. I looked at him expectantly as I dropped the cheese into my cart.

AHH! I missed them! How did you get them?

His eyes widened. Most would be disgusted by this girl. Klin, on the other hand, was enticed. The depths of her pupils seemed to suck him in. It wasn't by love or attraction, it was by sheer curiosity.
Yet he couldn't bring himself to speak. His throat closed and he felt like hives were sprouting. That didn't matter, medicine was just one white pill away. One white pill that cured everything.
Well, almost everything.
Klin picked up a cheese block of the same brand and kept his eyes away from hers.
"Cheese Gods?" he managed to mumble quietly.

AHHH NO WAY.

Lila: "Oh yes." I nodded. "They're watching us. Even now."
In that giant penthouse in the sky.
"What's that Clyde? ... Of course not, Clyde, I don't even know his name."
Clyde got jealous so easily. Even of my friends.
I glanced over at the guy. "What's your name?"
I could use my eyescreen, but my dad thought technology was evil, ever since the accident, so I didn't use it, either. Most of the time.
Sometimes I snuck on to play Angry Birds.

"Klin," he said with a voice crack on the "K".
"Who are you talking to?" Klin surprised himself by saying.
He was too dumbfounded to look her up. He knew he had so many things waiting at home he needed to rush to but right now, he wanted to stay with her.
She seemed so distracted. Klin hoped they would meet again, not just this once.

"I'm talking to Clyde, of course." I laughed. "Can't you see him?"
Then I frowned, catching myself. Of course he couldn't, Clyde wasn't really there.
He was just my imaginary Prince.
I sighed slightly. "I'm talking to myself. I do it a lot, actually."

He wasn't sure what to say to that. Klin just stared with beady eyes and didn't blink. Yes, hives were forming on his neck, but good thing he word a turtleneck sweater.
Klin backed the cart up and stood with it facing her.
"What is he like?" he asked curiously.

(Hmm, who have you and I not used? Maybe Rocket and Carsyn meet, going to school?)

okay. are their schools like normal schools?

Lila: "Clyde?" My eyes lit up, and I leaned on my elbow on my cart, my eyes glazing over. "He's tall and handsome and sweet and he always compliments me and brings me presents and we visit his castle sometimes and someday he'll be King and I'll be Queen."
I realized that I was rambling, probably in a way that was hard to follow.
"Well, he's amazing."

I would think so. More futuristic stuff maybe, like virtual teachers and they all do classes in individual rooms. And they would learn about modern societies, and technologies, and the contest, not math or science, maybe?

"Want to be friends?"
The words just slipped from his mouth. Klin couldn't take it back. He hoped he wouldn't seem weird, but hey, he was talking to a stranger who had an imaginary future husband.
"Do you play Games?" he added, meaning the huge, big game all eye-screens had.

Except if they're all in their own rooms, how will Rocket and Carsyn meet?

I considered whether to tell him about my dad, and how we don't use eyescreens much. I'd go with a half-truth, instead.
