what happens in college

Brea: I nodded...then after what felt like awkward-eternity, the coffee was ready.

Adam: "Whoot. Coffee," I said, drinking a little.

Brea: I took a sip of mine, and it was really hot. I swallowed it, though I wanted to spit it out. Ouch, burnt tongue. I sort of nodded at Adam's comment.

Adam: I frowned. "You okay?" She was sort of making a face. At least, I thought I knew her well enough by now to know something was up. The coffee, maybe?

Brea: "It was hot." I pointed at the coffee.

Adam: "Oh. You don't like sugar and cream?"

Brea: I shook my head. "I don't have much of a sweet tooth."

Adam: "Ah," I said. "I'm trying to train myself."

Brea: "Train yourself?" I asked in confusion.

Adam: "Yeah. To not drink so much sweet coffee."

Brea: "Ohhh." He liked sweet, I didn't. Opposites. Opposites attract...grr.

Adam: She looked annoyed. "Something wrong?"

Brea: I shrugged, not sure how to answer. I didn't like to lie.

Adam: "Yes?" I guessed, frowning.

Brea: "Don't worry about it, it's nothing."

Adam: I frowned. "Are you sure it's nothing?"

Brea: "No, but it doesn't matter anymore ... even if it's something."

Adam: I shrugged. "Well...alright," I said. "If you're sure."

Brea: I bit my lip and didn't answer.

Adam: I was actually out of things to say now.

Brea: My eyes flickered to the door. "Iwasjustthinkinghowweactuallywouldhavemadeagoodcouplebecauseoppositesattract, yaknow? Butthat'sovernow," I said super fast.

Adam: Good thing my ex-girlfriend had talked really fast. Well, one of them. "It's only over if you say it's over," I said. "We did call it over, but the thing about us is that if you want to call it...well...not over..." I groaned. "I don't know what I'm saying."

Brea: I shook my head and look down at my shoes. "It was just a fling, I think," Why am I saying something like that? "Since it only lasted a day...I don't know what I'm saying, either."

Adam: I sighed. "To be honest, Brea..." I swallowed. This would be the first time I ever said this to a girl, but I had to say it. "Brea, I've missed you."

Brea: I laughed. "One day and you miss me?"
