Tyson: I glanced over and saw a guy. "Uh...who's this? I thought you just lived with your mom, Nat."

Nat looked between Jude and Tyson, trying to come up with words, but was interrupted by Jude.

Jude stepped forward, looking Tyson over and smirked. "I'm Jude. Her cousin. Who are you?"

Nat stepped between them and glared at Jude before turning around to Tyson. "This is my cousin, he is just coming by to visit."

Jason sighed and said, "Definitely. If I get caught I'm going to be in huge trouble. Skipping on the first day is like a sin." He leaned up against the locker beside Ginger's. "So...what did you do over the summer? Every time I called you weren't home or busy when you answered." Jason smirked at this. Ginger was always so busy. Such an overachiever.

Fable watched the clock behind her teacher's head. Twenty minutes until her first class let out. She sighed heavily, her eyes roaming over to the hall pass hanging on the wall.

Tyson: "I'm Tyson," I said. "Nice to meet you. You live nearby?"

Jude smiled. "Uh, yeah, a few blocks away."

Nat stood by Tyson, hoping Jude wouldn't reveal anything, even though he knew he shouldn't.

Tyson: "Oh," I said. "Cool. You still in school?"

Jude nodded. "Yeah, college downtown."

To Nat it seemed like they were sizing each other up.

"Oh, you know, normal stuff." Ginger shrugged. "College prep work, baby sitting little cousins, job interviews, teaching tennis. The normal." She shifted her books in her locker, and frowned when they didnt fit quite right.

Jason rolled his eyes. "I could have helped you teach tennis," he said indignantly. He smiled when her books slid to the side and wouldn't fit in her locker correctly. "And anyways," he continued, "what do you mean by 'college prep'?" Jason made mocking quotation marks in the air as he said college prep.

"researching for colleges i want to go to. Getting papers ready. Essays written...the usual." Ginger shrugged. "Aparently if i want to go to college, i need to bring in a lot of scholarships. But enough about me. What have you been up to?"

Jason smiled brightly. "Well, I played my guitar. Worked at the Tastee Freeze. Played my guitar some more. And...slept. That's about it. Uneventful, just the way I like it."

"How did we become best friends?" Ginger laughed. "I cant stand an uneventful day, yet that was your whole summer." She shook her head and just smiled at him. "Hook up with anyone this summer, or are you still flying solo?"

Jason smiled a little. "Well, there is this one girl. Her name is Fable. She goes here, I'm sure you know her. We worked together this summer and I don't know...We kind of...connected. But at the time being, I'm still single. No girlfriend worries for me."

"Oh. Thats cool." Ginger forced a smile to him and went back to her books. She couldnt lie to herself for much longer...She liked him more than a friend. but she didnt want to ruin her friendship with him. She also felt that if he got a girl friend, it would come between them.

Nat took hold of Tyson hand and led him out the door and she turned back to Jude. "Make sure to lock up when you leave." she said as they left the room and soon after the apartment.

Jason smiled back at Ginger. When she turned back to her locker he was quick to replace it with a frown. He had to admit that Ginger was amazing and he definitely could like her as more than a friend. But for right now, in Jason's eyes, they weren't meant to be. For right now, he didn't need the drama of trying to turn a friendship into a romance.

"So, bowling tonight, or is that too eventful for you?" Ginger asked him, standing up again from the base of her locker. She hoped their bowling nights wouldnt change now. It was nice just hanging out as best friends and joking aroud bowling.
