Ava: I enter the math class and sit down in the back, all by myself. I pull out a book in a language no one recognizes, and I read it and scribble down notes in the same language.

Arlo: The new girl, Ava, was doing the same thing I was doing. I mean i couldn't recognize her language, but my eyes were locked on the flowing script.

((Name: Jack McSkelling

Age: 17

Species: Claims to be human, but has death-related powers.

Appearance: Jack has shaggy black hair, and icy, penetrating blue eyes. He is rather pale, tall, and unnaturally thin.

Bio: Jack is rather poor, so it is unclear how he got into the school.


Name: Dementia "Demi" Whittershins

Age: 17

Species: Witch, specializing in Illusion

Appearance: Demi's hair is a flyaway mass of long, red curls. Her eyes are a bright, mischeivious green. Her face is elven, almost devilish. She is about 5'9" and slender.

Bio: Her mother is a witch, but has been called away for some business thing or other, causing Demi to be sent away to boarding school.))

Ava: i continue to read and write notes

Arlo: Curiostiy had fully consumed me. "What language is that?" I asked quietly, cocking my head.

Ava: i gasp and cover my book "i-its nothing."

Arlo: "It doesn't look like nothing." I said, pushing slighty.

Ava: I sigh. "you probably wouldnt understand much anyways..."

Arlo: I laughed quietly. "I didn't ask to read it, I just wanted to know what language it was. I'm doing my own language studying." I said.

Ava: "it's not a language of this world..."

Jack sat leaning back in his chair, his black fedora pulled low over his eyes. Though he didn't show it, he was listening intently to the conversation.

Arlo: "Again, so is mine, but I'm still asking." I said, slightly exasperated.

Ava: "its a book of healing spells written in the language of my people.:"

Demi looked at the people who were talking. Why they poring over a book during math? And then there was that no-good Jack Skelling. Why did he always get away with wearing hats in school, and not paying attention during class? He never had to pay for lunch, and, as far as anyone knew, never paid a tuition fee. She tried to ignore them and focus on math.

'Healing spells' caught Demi's attention. She turned and politely said, "Spells? You wouldn't happen to be a witch, would you?"

Ava: "im not a witch. im a mage. yes, there is a difference"

"Well, I know that," Demi said, "I just had no way of knowing which you were."

"If you looked at the book, you would know, numbskull," Jack said, not lifting the fedora from his eyes, "Anyone who knows anything would be able to recognize that writing."

Ava: i nod. "its the language of the Bloodmoon clan"

Demi stiffened at the mention of the name. "Do you belong to said... clan?" she asked, with cold politeness.

Ava: i stay quiet
