Unfinished Page

Nate sighed and answered. "We lost a big case that I had been working on for months and the person I'm working with isn't very happy."

Brooke got up to follow him. She jumped up on the counter to sit and answered. "What do you have?"

Emily nodded a little, saying, "Well, there'll be cases as big as that one soon enough...right?"

"Anything and everything, pretty much." Michael said with a half-grin before suggesting, "I think I may have some wine left if you're interested." Besides, how serious of a conversation they were having, he needed a drink himself.

Nate sighed and closed his eyes a moment. "I sure hope so."

A smirk crept onto Brooke's face at the mention of wine. "When have I not been interested in wine?"

"Trust me on that." Emily said in the same tone, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "These kinds of things work themselves out."

Michael let out a small chuckle as he grabbed the bottle out of the fridge and two glasses. He poured their drinks, standing in front of her as he handed her a glass. "Right. I shouldn't have forgotten about that." He said half-jokingly.

Nate smiled at her optimism and pulled her closer and kissed her. "You're right, Em, they do."

Brooke smirked and gave him a small nod as she took a sip. She flashed back to about five years ago when the rest of them were here and in Michael's kitchen, and there had been a moment like this.

Emily smiled as he did, glad she could reassure him. Her arms wrapped around his neck and her head buried in his shoulder slightly in a hug, taking comfort of him just being there.

Michael found himself thinking about the past. "Almost like old times here." He reminisced with a smirk, though he hadn't realized he said it out loud.

Nate smiled and laid his head against her's and rubbed her back. He enjoyed just being close to her, she took all of his problems away.

Brooke nodded and took another swig. "But you're missing the loud music and three kegs of beer..." She smirked as she looked at him from the counter.

(Meh. I wanna skip to the wedding for Emily & Nate. .)

Michael gave a half-grin and retorted, "I could easily arrange that if you like." Though he wasn't sure if that's what he meant by old times. He was thinking about back when they were together. He knew he was about to tread into dangerous territory so he tried to push those thoughts out of his mind.

Brooke smiled at him, genuinely and sat her wine down beside her. She shrugged and shook her head. "Nah, I kinda like it where it is just us." She said, slowly, not sure she should go there or not.

Emily found herself staring at her reflection in the full length mirror. Her hair was done up beautifully and the dress was as wonderful as she thought it was. She let out a small sigh with a smile. Today was the day. Both joyous and anxious. She heard a rap on the door and turned to see her friend Abigail's head peek through.
"Are you about ready to get hitched?" She asked with a grin and Emily laughed a little as she responded, "Yep." Her friend's attitude calmed her nerves and now she wondered how Nate was doing.

Michael nodded, sort of surprised she was the one to bring that up. Before he could stop himself, the words slipped out of his mouth, "Same here." Two simple words with so much weight and importance. It was almost astounding.

Nate was putting on cufflinks and straightened his jacket out after he was done. He turned to his best man, Gavin, and had a wide smile on his face. "Ready to be brothers?" He asked boyishly and could see Gavin crack a smile. Nate was excited that today he was getting married to the woman of his dreams and to the woman that meant the world to him. He couldn't wait to call Emily his wife.

Brooke's heart seemed to skip a beat at those words, words she had long ago stopped wishing would come out of his mouth. He was close enough to the counter that she could wrap her legs around his waist and pull him to her. When he was as close as he could get, she rested her forearms on his shoulders and locked her hands behind his head as she looked slightly down at her.

Emily was soon out in the lobby sort of area of the church with the bridesmaids and the groom's best men (I'm not exactly sure if that's right, lol.) She knew just beyond the doors in front of her waited the most important man in her life. Her father stood next to her as the music began to play and the bridesmaids and best men headed out down the aisle. Soon enough, it was time and her arm linked with her father's as they walked down the aisle as well.

Michael hadn't expected the gesture but gladly went along with it. One of his arms wrapped around her waist while his hand cupped the back of her neck as he leaned in, pressing his lips to hers. It had been so long since the last time she was this close to him and he couldn't think of much else.

Nate was bursting with joy when he saw how beautiful Emily looked, she was absolutely gorgeous in that dress. As he watched her walk toward him, he started to cry with joy and smiled widely at her.

Brooke didn't hesitate in returning the kiss as feelings rushed back to her. Her hands ran through his hair and her legs wrapped around him tighter as she kissed him.

Emily was getting a little choked up herself and tears of joy pricked her eyes as she returned a smile of her own as her father handed her over to Nate.

Michael let his logical thoughts escape him as he put all of his feelings into the kiss, deepening it. Both his arms wrapped around her waist, bringing her as close to him as possible. He never realized until now how much he missed having her in his life.

Nate took her hand and mouthed 'I love you, Em" to her. This was the happiest moment of his life.

Brooke kissed him again on the lips and pulled away reluctantly to set her forhead against his as she caught her breath. She smiled and looked into his eyes and bit her bottom lip.

Emily squeezed his hand slightly and mouthed back, 'Love you too' just before the ceremony began. (Um. Don't know the details about that honestly.)

Michael smiled broadly when he met her gaze, just having to give her a short kiss after he caught his breath. "I hoped a long time for that again..." He had to murmur with a charming half-grin.

Nate smiled wide once again at her before they turned to the pastor and the ceremony continued.

Brooke smiled and replied, "You're not the only one..."

Sooner than she assumed it would be, Emily heard the pastor ask Nate if he'd take her as his wife. She could barely contain how happy she was. She was just about beaming.

Michael chuckled a little and teased slightly, "Well, I would hope so, at least." Before a genuine smile took over his lips.

Nate beamed and replied, "I do." Those words would change his life forever and for the better.

Brooke bit her lip again before she brought her lips to his once more while he was in midsmile.

Emily smiled widely as well, then she was asked the same sort of question. "I do." She responded, then the pastor turned to Nate and said, "You may now kiss the bride."

Michael kissed her back, right now enjoying the moment. His hand trailed up to play with her hair gently.

Nate happily leaned down and kissed his new wife and even dipped her--he couldn't help it, he was so excited.

Brooke smiled against his lips when he played her hair.

Emily's arms wrapped around his neck instinctively and she let out a small giggle when he lifted her back up. Then she noticed the cheers from their family and friends and almost blushed.

Michael pulled away after a moment, and realized something. He wasn't sure if they were back together or this was just a one-time thing and that showed in his expression.

Nate smiled wide at his new bride and they walked down the aisle between cheearing friends and family.

Brooke was good at reading people and saw the look on his face. "What do you want it to be? I'm fine with whatever..." She answered his silent question.

Emily glanced up at Nate as they stepped out of the church, now husband and wife. Her brother Gavin had to clap Nate on the back as if to say, 'Atta boy' and she couldn't help but grin a little.

Michael wasn't entirely...certain. He definitely missed her but then again, there was a reason why they broke up in the first place. He spoke after a small moment, "I say we should give it, give us, another chance. For the long run."

Nate glanced back at his best friend, and now brother, and smiled at him. He and Emily walked through their friends and family again while they through rice into the wair and blew bubbles as the two made the way to the vintage car parked at the curb waiting for them. Their reception was later that day and now they were headed to take pictures with each other and the bridal party.

Brooke slowly nodded. "Alright...we can try that..." She spoke slowly. She was willing to try another time for them.
