Unfinished Page

Emily smiled, one of her arms absent-mindedly wrapping around her stomach. Things were going to be better for her, Nate, and their baby after this was taken care of.

Nate watched her and smiled, she had a certain glow about her. He couldn't tell if it was the pregnancy or that she was finally, somewhat, happy again.

Emily noticed his change in expression and questioned curiously, "What's up?"

(Hey, I have to go. I probably won't be on any more today so figured I'd warn ya.)

Nate smiled at her some more before he answered. "Oh, nothing. You just seem to have a glow."

(alright! thanks!)

(Well, I had a little time. .)

"Oh, really?" Emily questioned with a smile, jumping off of the counter and going over by him.

Nate smiled and sat his water on the counter behind him. "Yes, you do."

Emily's smile widened a little, and she couldn't help but give him a hug when she admitted, "You know, I'm happy we're having this baby." The situation didn't turn out nearly as bad as she thought it would.

Nate grinned and embraced her. "I am too." he replied, actually excited that he was going to be a father and knowing that he needed to stop the business that he was in.

Emily pulled away after a moment, almost thinking of something she shouldn't have been. She didn't let it show and she asked, "So, do you need to be heading anywhere today?"

Nate smiled and shook his head. "No, I'm all yours," he said, but then remembered what he had done and she may not be so happy about that added, "if you want me to stay, that is."

Emily almost started off with 'Of course' but kept that back and assured him with, "Yeah, I do."

Nate smiled and brought her into a hug, maybe things were going to work out for them.

Emily returned the embrace. She had to admit it to herself that it felt good being in his arms, it didn't matter why.

Nate didn't want to let her go, he didn't want to leave her ever again.

Emily glanced up after a moment, somewhat unsure what to think of the situation, though it wasn't particularly anything bad. She pulled away slightly, one of her hands cupping his cheek lightly and she gave a soft smile. A second or two later, she realized what she was doing and removed her hand. "Sorry." She murmured quietly.

Nate didn't know what to do so he just looked into her eyes and gave her a small smile. Her palm was warm against his cheek and he wanted to kiss her, but didn't know how he'd react.
Nate shook his head, "It's alright."

Emily gave a small half-smirk, stepping out of his arms although part of her didn't want to. She checked the time and said, "Well, I think I'm going to try and get some sleep..." She hadn't exactly had peaceful nights lately, her thoughts wandering all over the place when she laid in bed.

Nate nodded and smiled as she walked out of the room and toward the bedroom. He took a sip of water before grabbing it and heading to the den to take up residence on the couch. He honestly didn't know what to do in this situation, whether to go back to Gavin and Jess' or to stay here, but with all that was going on and the moment that he and Emily had shared, he decided to stay.
He grabbed a blanket and a pillow from the hall closet on his way to the den and turned on the tv as he sat down on the couch.

Emily heard the television come on before she shut the bedroom door behind her. A smile involuntarily came onto her lips. She could say she was honestly glad he didn't leave. She changed out of her clothes and into a tank top and pajama shorts before heading to bed.
Surprisingly, she slept well and didn't wake up until sunlight peered in between the window shades. She stretched, sitting up and on habit looking over next to her, and slightly frowned at the realization that it was empty, like always recently. She glanced over at the bedside table, noting she had left her wedding ring there after that...one incident, but that wasn't what came to her mind. What did was the day Nate proposed to her. The good memories.
She got up out of bed, slipping on her robe and heading downstairs to the kitchen to get something to eat. She glanced into the living room as she passed it, seeing Nate was still sleeping on the couch, and she tried to be quiet as possible as she made breakfast.

Nate was asleep on the couch, which was surprisingly comfortable, and sleeping peacefully. He ended up drifting to sleep while the tv was on, but it was on a timer that turned it off if there was no activity for a certain amount of time, so when he woke up it was peaceful and quiet.
He blinked a few times and yawned as he stretched out like a cat before sitting up. He could smell coffee brewing in the kitchen, which brought a smile to his face. Emily was up. It was the little things that he missed most, the way she looked in the morning, the way it smelled when she cooked, and the way he caught her looking at him when she didn't know he saw her. What he missed most was her contagious laugh that always brought a smile to his face, she always made him happy.
He got up and folded the blanket and sat it on top of the pillow before walking out to the kitchen, shirtless with sweatpants sitting low on his hips. As he walked into the kitchen he ran a hand through his hair.

Emily first heard his feet padding into the kitchen before she turned to greet him and she hadn't entirely been expecting him to be dressed like he was. "Hey there." She managed to greet with a genuine smile, trying not to show how he was unknowingly affecting her.

Nate smiled at her as he walked over to the cabinet and grabbed a coffee mug and poured himself coffee. "Morning, Em." he said groggily before drinking some of his coffee.

Emily made up their plates, before walking-almost squeezing-past him towards the refrigerator to grab herself a glass of orange juice. One thing about the kitchen...it seemed bigger when it wasn't in actual use. "How'd you sleep?" She questioned curiously.

He smirked as she squeezed past him and drank more of his coffee before answering. "Surprisingly well. That couch we bought is extremely comfortable." he said with a grin.

Emily smirked a little, taking her plate and instead of going to the dining room table, she leaned back against the countertop. "Well, that's good. We must have good taste then." She commented with another smile, "So, do you have any plans for today?" She asked before taking a bite of her food.
