the masquerade

Em: "I suppose it was a fantasy of sorts. About how the press would react in certain situations," I answered honestly. Like say... If you left the building with me. I mean, I wouldn't say that, but the voice was loud in my head.

Rosalie: "certain situations? I suppose the papers were right. You are cocky." I smiled.

Em: "What do you mean, cocky? I meant if they found out about the gambling and... Whiskey." I paused, glancing around and then frowned at her.

Rosalie: "whiskey?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Em: "yeah, the heavy stuff. They have a seperate party in the cellar. Password only." I knew it was a secret, but for some reason, I felt like I could trust her.

I realized after I wrote it, but I'm on my iPod, so I'm lazy.

I can use my mad mod privilleges and delete it, if you want. Or edit it.

Rosalie: I smiled mischievously. "And do you know said password?"

Em: "I do indeed." I smiled a little bit more.

Rosalie: "and if I asked you to accompany me to this party, would you say yes?" I asked.

Em: "Well I wouldn't decline, so yes," I grinned. "Lets go." I offered her my arm.

Rosalie: I smiled and accepted the arm, and he led me toward some stairs.

Em: At the bottom of the stairs, I whispered the pass and we got into the small room. It smelled heavily of alcohol. I was only down here because I dabbled in gambling. I definitely wasn't one for the whiskey. "Enjoy."

Rosalie: this was so much more drastically different than the elegant party upstairs. This smelled of alcohol and cigars, and upstairs was of freesia and orange blossoms. I got a few stares from the other men. That was another thing. I was the only girl. This was going to be delightful.

Em: I put my lips to her ear. "If something goes down, don't hesitate to get me. Understand, Ms. Swan?"

Rosalie: I nodded.

Em: "Go, enjoy, have a drink. But not too much, " I warned. I sauntered over to one of the poker tables, only watching at first.

Rosalie: I wasn't planning on drinking too much. I went to the bar, and asked for a half glass of whiskey. The bartender gave me my glass, and I sipped it. It was strong much stronger than I was used to. I coughed into the glass and the bartender chuckled.

Em: Once I finally started to gamble, it was all uphill. I had made over three hundred by the time I decided to fine Rosalie. She was sitting by the bar with some whiskey. Sliding into the seat next to her, I smiled. "I dunno if I told you, but you look amazing."

Rosalie: "well, you did counter compliment me, if that counts." I joked.

Em: "All of these guys are staring at you like a piece of meat," I said, shifting and looking from her to them.

Rosalie: "understandable." I nodded, peering into the glass. "Focus on your cards gentleman. I am merely dressed as a woman because I was quite bored." I said loudly,, and giggled.

Em: I laughed with her. "Ms. Swan, if I may be so bold, you might be a keeper."
