The Fountain

...And no one knows he's searching for the fountain, either.
No one knows that any of the St. Jane's are, besides Meredith.

Meredith: I folded my piece of paper crisply. "Ready?" I held out my piece of paper, but tightly enough so he couldn't try to run and not give over his half.

Damn. -_- well, she figured it out by the world map drawing. *nods*

Matteo: I nod and hold up my fingers. "One, two, three-"

Armad: I blink. "Um...excuse me?"

Rose: "I know you're looking for the fountain of youth too. And I want in."

Meredith: On three I hand him my slip and grab his, eagerly unfolding it. A piece of a map? Unimpressive. And riddles...hmm.

Matteo: A piece? Considering there's twenty one in the whole world, this could be important. Although it won't help if I still don't know where to assemble them all. I take out my lighter and start setting the paper on fire. "Why are you lookin' for it anyway?"

Armand: "Oh? Hm... Well, can you pick locks?" I ask. I wanted to work with someone interesting, otherwise I'd get bored and leave. "Or have photographic memory?"

Rose: "I can process information faster than a normal person. Not photographic memory, but awful damn close. I also read a lot and know the best sources of information." You sound like a nerd, Rose. You idiot.

Meredith: "What's it to you?" My eyes narrowed, on guard. I handed him the other slip, so he could burn them both.

Matteo: Because I need to know when she'll throw me under the bus. The ones with "just" causes tend to wait until they get tortured, but sething tells me she wouldn't be so nice. Then again, would I? I take out a cigar and start to light it. "Judt curious," I say easily.

Meredith: "That's a disgusting habit," I told Matteo absentmindedly as I though about whether to talk about my motives. I usually spoke my mind about nasty things like smoking, though usually to Rachel, because I knew she'd just bounce back in five seconds. Strangers were more likely to hold grudges, but if they did they weren't worth it. Telling Matteo about why I was searching couldn't do much harm, could it? Wasn't much of a secret, anyway. "The Glade's are direct descendants of Aphrodite, so I think it's only fair we get a drink -" I didn't mention we wanted the first drink "From the fountain."

Matteo: "Too bad," I say, blowing a bit of smoke in her face. The bit about Aphrodite makes me raise an eyebrow, but I decide not to say smithing about that. While she was hot, I somehow thought Aphrodite's descendants would be hotter. "How do you know it had anything to do with her?"

Armand: "Oh...well, I guess we could use that too." I'd been hoping for something more interesting, like her being a raging junkie who can see into the future or something. Oh well, guess I can't be picky.

Rose: "I'm also a writer who takes fast notes." Damn, he didnt sound interested at all. Shit shit shit.

Meredith: I grimaced at the smoke, but then recomposed myself to wink. "That is a completely separate secret. It'll cost ya if you really wanna know."

Armand: "In Arabic?" I ask. That way, few people would be able to read it. But when I see her face drop, I try something easier. "¿Hablas español?" She'd need it where I planned on going.

Matteo: "Please, I don't think I'm that bored," I say as I watch the cars go by. "The fountain could be made out of her spit for all I care."

Rose: "Si senor. Hace..." I did the math. "once anos que yo hablas espanol." I said proudly. He seemed interested in that.

Meredith: I blinked. Bored? Did he think I was suggesting...?! EW PERV.I stepped back a little. "Pervert," I mumbled. "And there's more to it than just who made the fountain. My family already has buckets of information."

Matteo: "And yet here you are asking me for info," I say. After a moment, I put out my cigar and start trying to hail a taxi.

Armand: I grimace a bit. "No offence, but your Spanish is crap. It won't get you anywhere in Spain."

Meredith: "No, you're basically useless now. Bye!" I shrugged and flitted back into the party, flashing my ID.

Rose: I raised an eyebrow. "So AP Spanish Lit will get me nowhere?" I demanded.

Armand: "Not if you can't even use the right tenses. Your hablas should've been an hablo and- nevermind, just forget it." I sigh and hop up on the bar itself. The bartender gives me a small look, but doesn't really care.

Rose: "Shit, I did that?" Crap, that failed. "Yeah, I should have realized that. My bad." I smiled and scratched the back of my head.
