Phoenix approached the small white doe laying next to Emily, flitting away after a moment back to Kim.

Kim
I sigh. Well, this was above avarage, even for me. I look over to Emily a moment, before moving closer to her, putting a hand on her head.

Cricket cocked his head at Emily and almost scampered over to her, but something caught his eye. A dog trotted over to him and gently nuzzled his chin. I'm Finn's soul, by the way, she said.

Pleasure, Cricket thought, dazed. That was interesting.

Emily
Why was it hot? I hate warmth... Not really me, but my power did. "Kim, stop..." I wave her hand away, feeling my head. It felt normal, but normal was hot for me now.

Cricket's soul walked over and blinked down at Emily. "Good good, it's working..."

Emily
I blink up at the girl. "...Cricket....?"
"Long story," Kim says, rolling her eyes. "For now, he needs to be healed."
I blink and sit up more, nodding.

"No, I'm not Cricket, I'm--ow!" She rubbed her hand again. She was looking forward to not feeling again..."Would you stop that?" She said, to where she thought the invisible kitty might be.

Stay focused, Cricket thought, as if she could hear him.

She sighed and looked back to Emily. "I'm not exactly sure how this will work...but Cricket's been shot. I need you to heal him or he could die, so...don't freak out when I turn into a bleeding teenage boy."

Emily
"Er...right..." Stupid drugs were making me halucinate or something. Yeah, that's it....

show's over, be back in a half hour er so

Ready? She thought gently, and started to feel her senses, or rather, his senses, slip away. Cricket felt the scorching wound dig once again in his chest as the girl began to fade away, transparency spilling over her now-luminous figure. Everything was blurred after that, until he faded back into painful consciousness. He gasped, sqeezing his eyes shut and feeling the concrete beneath him once again.

"Cricket!" Finn hurried over to him. There he was again, on the ground with pain written all over his face. There was so much red...he rather disliked that color.

Cricket heard his voice and tried to cling to it. "Keep...talking." He also wanted to say that he was alright, that he shouldn't worry, but no words came out.

Darn...brb in 15-30 mins

Emily
I put on a 'oh yeah, i see this everyday' face and press a hand against his wound. Bullet had to come out first. "Have any loves, Cricket?" I say quickly, not thinking of anything else.
The snow white doe stands and walks over to Cricket's soul before laying down beside her, the cat in the easy curve of her stomach. /He'll be alright./

baaahhhh, just got back!

Back! Just a sec...

I know, she said, watching the scene curiously. The dog came and laid next to the group.

Cricket nodded, wincing a little.

Finn watched, half-fascinated and half-nausiated and half-just-happy-nobody-died. Yes, that made 150%, but that's how much he was feeling right then.

Emily
I nod. "Must be nice. The only boyfriend i ever had ditched me for some other girl." I take a breath, and in one fell swish brought the bullet out and clattering to the pavement. I press against the wound again to stop the blood, started healing him.

Just like that, Cricket felt the pain melt away under the pressure of her hand. There's a certain bliss in that after-the-hurt feel that you only get once or twice in a lifetime. He took a breath and just laid there for a moment, faintly smiling up at the sky. "Sometimes." He said. "But I assure you, if another bullet doesn't get t' me first, she'll be th' death of me."

I wondered if Cricket would become a bonder from this. Not every bonder had to pass through the Center of the Planar Universe to awaken; all the A Plane natives became bonders through learning. The more you begin to believe in the existence of souls and start to recognize your soul's precence, the more your energy grows. The more your energy grows, the easier it is to see and communicate with souls--which only causes your energy to grow more. When it gets to a certain point, something comes alive inside you and your bonder abilities unlock. Cricket knew about souls now. He'd seen his soul with his own eyes.
Will it be enough to change him? I thought. If he unlocks those powers, I guess Sarah and I will have to teach him how to... Sarah! Ah, suis-je bête!
I completely just left her lying on the ground. Oops.
