CHARACTER CHAT!!!!

I shrug in answer to the obvious question floating between us. "Not much to say about it. I've always been bad." Maybe last time was just an overreaction though. Getting superpowers, my brother dying, and Emily abandoning me at the Institute was a bit much for one girl in half a month. Now was the same. Emotions were being forced on a high, thoughts going through my head that feels so pleasing but so wrong to that little slice of me still left.

Cricket watched her expression sadden and bit his lip. Out of the corner of his eye he saw one guard put a suspicious hand on his gun. If they managed to get away, they would most likely be caught again. He'd found an exit once, but he didn't know where he was anymore. And those pesky distress signals...they wouldn't get far. "I s'pose I should've expected it." /Watch out, they're getting suspicious. Play evil./

Kim
I stare on ahead, a smile coming to my lips. I laugh low and dangerous. "You don't know a thing about me. Why the hell would you?"

Oi my my. That was convincing. He studied her face and couldn't tell if she was kidding or not. "I suppose you're right about that."

Kim
I push him into two double doors that swing open. The guards follow and pick him up from the floor, strap him to a table. Jess is on the one next to his unconscious. I go over and stroke her hair gently.

Cricket let the bonds press him against the metal, suddenly realising how tired he was. He didn't want to think about what might happen next. Look at the bright side. Right? At the moment he just felt blind. He looked over at Kim, half wishing for her to come back. He whistled quietly to himself, a tune that almost resembled a nightingale. /Where's the bright side?/

Kim
The scientists approach him silently, setting out needles and doses of whatever they used on me. Jess's eyes flutter open, bloodshot. "Kim?"
"Jess. My name is Phoenix. Are you ready to be good?" I ask.
Tears track down her face. "Kim, i know you're in there. You were always the fighter...Daniel wouldn't like this..."
I stiffen. "Dan is dead. I'm making sure the monster who killed him is brought back here."
"Ami didn't do anything, Kim..." She says weakly, looking away from me

Cricket stared up at all the needles, heartbeat quickening. He quickly looked away, to Kim. Phoenix now. "Kim, listen. This isn't you. If you don't trust me, listen t' Jess. You've been through a lot together; she should know!"

Kim
I stroke her hair. "You left me at the Institute. The rest of you ran and left me."
"We couldn't get to you, Kim," she says quietly.
"I've heard that before." I smell her hair burning and i take my hands away from her.

"Don't blame 'er. She wanted t' find you, I convinced 'er to--" Cricket gritted his teeth as he felt something slide deep into his neck, and then a swelling throb of pain where the needle ended.

Kim
I ignore him and watch him with a small smile. "You can't fight it. You can't run from it." I walk over to him. "Do you feel it? Changing your emotions, putting thoughts into your head?"

Fait chier, I wasn't going to wait around there.
I rolled over and climbed shakily first to my hands and knees, then to my feet. I put my arms out to the sides for balance, teetering for a breathless moment. When I felt somewhat stable, I limped over to the door.
Now, let's see here...
If only I hadn't lost my lockpicking tools...and my knife... Scouts have specialized boots with sheathes and pockets on the inside to conceal things like knives and lockpicks. Unfortunately, I had lost both of those things in the field. There was, however, another way to open locks. Earth and wind types can both do it. We go about it differently, but the principles are the same.
I inspected the lock, putting my hand against it, and felt for the air inside the tumbler. Raising my hand slowly, palm facing up, I used the air to push the pins into position. I concentrated, listening for the clicks. When all the pins were in place, I turned the tumbler with wind and opened the door. Giving a small smile of satisfaction, I slunk into the hallway. Maybe what I was doing was insane, but I was not waiting around in there forever.

((Translation: Fait chier ("fay shee-ay") means something along the lines of "F#ck it."))

Cricket looked up at her, clenching his jaw. He let out a small gasp as the needle slid back out again, and tried to catch the breath he'd been holding. "What's a few needles, friend? I won't give in."

A doctor gets another needle ready, finding a vein in his arm and injecting it.

Cricket held his breath again and squeezed his eyes shut, pressing against his bonds. Look at the bright side. He could always kill her for this later. His eyes flashed open, then softened. What? Kill her?

Kim
I see the edge come to his eyes, like that of a knife. Deadly and accurate, hard, but there was still Cricket in there. "Will you cooperate?" I ask.

Cricket tried to sort out his thoughts. Every feeling was blurred and swirling. Hate and pain and stubborn friendship. He tried to find the answer. "Y--no?"

I heard voices down the hall and ducked into a doorway; sparks jolted through my bad leg, and I clenched my teeth to keep from yelping. I pressed myself against the inside wall and held my breath as the speakers passed, not daring to exhale until the voices faded away again.

((Is there any place significant he could possibly be right now, or should he just continue on his merry way? ))

i've got nobody really... director and wisp, i guess, but i wouldn't know what to talk about with them >.>

Jesus, this boy couldn't take a hint. The doctor goes to him with another. "Now?" i ask, a raised eyebrow.

I left the room and slipped back into the hallway. I really had no idea where I was going, but I felt like I needed to go somewhere. I continued on, hiding whenever I needed to. It was actually pretty easy.
...Until I found myself hopelessly lost.
I thought I was in some sort of science section, but I wasn't sure. There was a set of double doors in front of me, but I didn't dare risk peeking in the windows.
Aiolii, phase through the door and tell me what's inside.
Right.

((Maybe this is where Cricket and friends are...? I won't interrupt if you don't want me to, though.))

The long needle caught his eye. Then through the chaos, common sense clicked that if he he was injected again he might lose himself completely. "A'right." He looked away submissively.

I smile, the doctor backing off. "So you'll answer the Director's questions?"
