The Summer that changed my life forever...

Brok: I laughed. "No, silly. Tell me what to do, and I'll help."

Dakota: "Fill this cup halfway with water. Easy enough?" I handed him the measuring cup.

Brok: I nodded and headed over to the sink.

Dakota: I cracked two eggs into a bowl as he did that.

Brok: "Here's the water," I said, heading back over to her.

Dakota: I poured the water over the cake powder-stuff. "Oh, and butter..." I got some out of the fridge and melted it a few seconds in the microwave. I put that and the eggs in. "I feel like there's something else..."

Brok: I shrugged. "Looks good to me."

Dakota: I shrugged back. "Good enough then. Want to help mix it?"

Brok: I placed my hand on hers. "Sure. Let's do it together."

Dakota: I laughed. "Okay." *uh, starts to mix?*

Brok: I smiled at her, glad I wasn't too involved in the cooking process.

*skips to completion of mixing*
Dakota: I poured the batter into a pan and put it into the oven. "The box says 20 minutes."

Brok: "So what do we do for twenty minutes?"

Dakota: I rocked back and forth on my heels. "I guess it's my turn to pick, now that you picked cake...uh..."

Brok: I laughed. "What do you normally do when you're at home?"

Dakota: "Listen to music or write, but I'm not at home much...."

Brok: "Okay, show me some of your music."

Dakota: "What do you mean? It's not /mine/ I just listen to it."

Brok: "Fine," I said. "Show me what you listen to."

Dakota: "Okay...come on." I turned towards the stairs, my music was in my room.

Brok: I followed, wondering what her room looked like.

(Dakota's room has light purple walls, and a gray bedspread with little darker purple dots. Then she has a metal desk, and wood floors. She had to pay for all the stuff in her room herself. The desk has a computer - that's actually her families, but her parents don't use it- and she has a small metal dresser across from her bed, then there's a closet next to it.)

Dakota: We went in my room, and I grabbed my iPod from where it lay on my bed. I'd had to save up for that. "I don't have one of those iHomes, so we'll have to listen with earbuds..." I flipped through the songs, trying to decide what to have Brok listen to. I had a little bit of everything on my iPod, including his band. Not that I'd have him listen to that, obviously.

Brok: "Okay," I said, glad that meant we would be sharing. "Nice room, by the way. Pick something random."

(yesh?)

Dakota: "Thanks." I flipped some more until I found something. For the First Time, by the Script. I handed Brok an earbud, and pulled him down to sit next to me on the bed.

(I shuffled my iPod and that was what came up it seemed like something Dakota might listen to, soooo xD)

Brok: I frowned. "I haven't heard this song before." Unfortunately, I really didn't know a lot of music.
