What Is Left After?

Aimery: "So you're a scavenger, then, huh?"

Roxanne: "Yes, apparently." I shook the garbage bag one time, "We could probably cook this up." I said half-jokingly.

Aimery: "At night, though. Fire makes smoke, and smoke is a signal."

Roxanne: I frowned slightly, glancing at the bag in my hand, "Can't exactly fridge it though, unless..." I shook my head, "Never mind, it's a stupid idea."

Aimery: "Well, dark isn't that far away. I think it can sit here for an hour."

Roxanne: "I agree." I said a little quickly, setting the bag on the other side of the room.

Aimery: I lean back, closing my eyes. "Do you have a religion?"

Roxanne: I blinked at her before answering, "No, not really, but I believe something or someone has to be watching over us, or at least there. Do you?"

Aimery: I shrug, curling up on the bed. "If there's someone watching over us, I don't think they really care. And neither do I." I sigh, biting my lip.

We're at the hotel now.

Roxanne: I couldn't exactly blame her for thinking that way. The world just spiraled down into...a dark, dank abyss, and it was going to take a lot of time, and effort to bring it back again, if that was even possible.

Aimery: "Of course, people need someone to look to now. Someone to blame their problems on, someone to say that it'll be okay even when it won't be...I just think we relied too much on beings that didn't care instead of on ourselves."

Roxanne: "Someone to make the hard decision others won't, or think they can't." I added as I sat on the floor, my back leaning against the foot of the bed. I glanced over my shoulder for just a second before I closed my eyes, "You're right, and I can't say I don't agree."

Aimery: "Do you think there are groups? Others that like...banned together?"

Roxanne: I thought a moment, "Probably, if they figured it would help them survive, though."

Aimery: "Would we become tribes, like before? Would people gives themselves a name, and rules, and..." My voice trailed off, imagining it.

Roxanne: I smirked just slightly, "Maybe..." 'But then there'd be a god or two with that.' I thought, but didn't say out loud. "Back to simpler times, when people did things for themselves, and didn't rely upon technology, or anyone, anything, to do it for them."

Aimery: I smile. "Oh, we're already back to that beginning. We just haven't realized it yet -- we're so dependent on it."

Roxanne: I smiled, and opened my eyes, "True, very true."

Aimery: "I wish we had tv, though. I miss it a lot."

Roxanne: I nodded in agreement, and pulled out my music player. I tried to turn it on, but it taunted me with a flashing logo of a red battery. Dead. "And music, I miss my music." I added as I sighed, ignoring the urge to throw my MP3 across the room.

Aimery: I roll my eyes. "'You didn't steal any batteries?"
