The Party Chat

Serina: "THANKS!" I yelled, dancing to the music.

"I'm not leaving yet. She *points to Liz* has already tried to get me to move on...not happening. My parents and sister are up there, they aren't here....and one other thing don't call me "ghostie" I have a name and it's Andrew." said Andrew.

"Glad you're happy," said Aaron.

Derrick: "Play something metal!" I complained. Serina's music was so annoying.

"Fine, Andrew," I said icily. "And do you mean 'up there' as in Upper World or 'up there' as in moved on? Because there's a difference. If they've moved on, then they've already been recycled and they're off somewhere being new life with no recollection of their previous existence. But if they're in Heaven..." I shuddered before continuing, "then I pity them. The Upper World is not the place where mortal souls want to be right now."

"I hope that's were they are," said Andrew. "And anyway...how long ago do you think I died? I died nintey-nine years ago...does it look like I have a say in the matter?"

I sighed.
"Look," I said earnestly, "I wasn't kidding when I said that I'd pity them if they were in Heaven. The Upper World...well, it sucks, to be honest. It's sucked for a few centuries now; it's been in a downward spiral for ages. Poverty runs rampant, and just about every neighborhood is a slum. At least, that's what I've heard. I myself haven't been, of course! But see, you Mundane have the total wrong idea about the Upper World. It's not where good souls go when they die. For that matter, Hell isn't where they go when they're bad. Any mortal souls in Heaven now are captives and slaves, taken from here--the Middle World--by the cloudy traffickers." I paused before going on. "Anyway, since you seem so stubborn about moving on, it is now my duty to defend you until that point. Ergo, I'm sticking around. Lucky you!"

"I can handle myself, and if you haven't ben who are you to judge. I'm not some helpless being."

"I can judge because that's what our intel shows," I said, crossing my arms. "And like Hell you can handle yourself, human. You'd be as helpless as a fly in a spider's web if a cloudy came down right now and dragged you kicking and screaming up to the big shithole in the sky."

((You'll have noticed by now that Leslie seems to use the word "cloudy" often. It can be used as a noun or an adjective. When used as a noun, it's a derogatory name for a denizen of the Upper World, especially an Upper World sentry/mercenary (like the name "kraut" unkindly referring to a German, especially a German soldier, in WWI). When used as an adjective, it describes anything or anyone from the Upper World (ex: "cloudy armour," "cloudy bastard").))

"Whatever," said Andrew shaking his head.

"You know the band also has some hidden talents," said Ezra, trying to change the subject.

"Don't you 'whatever' me! You wouldn't be saying 'whatever' if you were enslaved by the cloudies for the rest of eternity!" Turning my focus to Ezra, I said, "Yippe-ya-hoo for them."

"They don't know anything about this and I would like to keep it that way," Ezra muttered to Leslie.

"ANYWAY, Like I was saying...Eric can break dance...and Aaron sings country."

"NO I DO NOT!!!!" shouted Aaron, in his black jacket, skinney jeans, and converse he looked anything but a country singer.

"He lost a dare and had to sing a country song of our choice...we were shocked how good he was...I mean he can sing pretty well but country would be the last thing you would expect." laughed Ezra.

Serina: "TAYLOR SWIFT!"

Ezra shoved Aaron forward onto the stage, and the rest of the band followed.

"I'll sing... BUT I WILL NOT SING TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!" Aaron shouted, and grabbed the mike.

"This should be interesting," I said with a smirk. "Also, that human is too loud. Somebody should tell him that. He seems to enjoy shouting almost every word he says, and honestly, it hurts."

"He is too loud!" laughed Ezra, and they began to play the song.

Serina: "Jason Aldean, maybe? Or Johnny Cash?"

"Uhhh...." said Aaron, looking around, "I don't know them."

"How do you not know Johnny Cash?!" I demanded of the Mundane singer. "Blasphemy! You're dead to me now."

Serina: "I'm with that kid! JOHNNY CASH!!!"

"Uhh...I'm more of a rocker....."

She called me "kid." That felt...really weird.
"For shame!" I told the singer. "You really ought to know the great masters. You can't honestly tell me that you're never heard of 'Ring of Fire?'"

"Uh..no...."
