Ventrix's fingers run along the scars cut deep into his face.

"You think I'm not well trained in that field?"

"In comparison to me? I highly doubt it."
Ventrix smirks. "Most people do not do five years at the Norlan Officer's Academy, then follow it up with years of command in both tactical and strategic positions."

"I was a higly trained assaisn."

"And that gives you any idea of correct tactical procedure when mounting an assault how? How many men were in your previous command? A hundred? two hundred? I doubt it was any. Assassins do not plan wars, Master Ezra."

Ezra chuckled," Depends on the tyoe of assaisn."

"What kind of assassin plans the motions of thousands of men? Assassins are not generals."

"One that involves a propechy."

Ventrix merely snorts with derision.

"You don't believe me."

((Sorry... Prophecies don't sit well with me. I find them very cliched.))

"What kind of fool would want an assassin in command? Divison of labour exists for a reason."

"I was trained to kill because there was going to be a war and I need to kill someone. The person was to be killed in the war."

"You were trained to kill then. I too was trained to kill, but only to stop myself dying. I was primarily trained for command."

"I still had tactics..."

"I have been trained in all standard modus operandi of Norlan operations. Deployment and execution were my strong points, but I was not considered weak when planning my contingencies."

"Ezra," I said, "stop being an idiot." It wasn't a snide remark, but a truthful statement. "Assassins aren't meant to lead armies. Assassins are meant to stealthily infiltrate, to kill the designated target, and to vanish without a trace. I should know, because I'm training to be one. But you don't do that sort of thing on a battlefield. Assassins may work with a group, but it's a small group at best. You don't bring a thousand men to assassinate one target; on the other hand, you don't bring a small cabal to fight an army. Let the seasoned warrior take control."

"Small group then...with many dead souls."

"Are you trying to assemble some kind of point?" I asked. "Because you're really not making sense here."

"My whole life doesn't make sense. My father takes.people like Andrew and tortures them."

"I have only respect for assassins," begins Ventrix, "mainly because I'm not suicidal, but even the greatest of all Norlan shadow-warriors knows you should leave the trials of command to the commanders."

"He wanted me to kill Liz, I couldn't and now he wants me dead."

"Boo-frickin'-hoo!" I said to Ezra, growing annoyed. "But yes, Ventrix, I like the idea of a two-pronged attack. If you make a huge distraction, it shouldn't be terribly difficult to sneak Andrew out."

David:
"Kiera and I can make an air strike as well!" I say, "Let us help!"

Ezra glared at Leslie, "Fine, put Kiera on the ground."
