Annika: I slid into my seat in history, behind Shane, just seconds before the bell rang.

Shane: I tapped my pencil on my desk, thinking of the possibility of another song.

Annika: "Hi Shane," I said.

Shane: I turned around and recognized Annika. "Hey, Annika," I said. "I, uh, forgot you sat behind me."

Annika: He had actually noticed, though? Huh. I shrugged. "Most people don't pay attention to who sits behind them, I mean, most people don't really look behind them a lot. What's there to see, usually?" I babbled.

Shane: I shrugged. "Hm. Yeah. I guess not." She'd kind of given me a song idea now. I'd have to jot it down.

Annika: "Yeah," I said lamely. Whatta loser I was.

Shane: I smiled at her before turning around to write some stuff down.

Annika: At least he smiled? I sighed and looked down at my notebook.

Shane: I wrote down something. Hm. Watch your back? No. Wait. Hm. Ugh. Songs were hard.

Annika: The teacher started to lecture us, but I never paid attention, anyway.

Shane: Nope. This wasn't working. I tore a piece of paper out, crumpled it up, and tried to shoot it in the trash can behind Annika. Nope, I missed.

Annika: I raised an eyebrow at the ball of paper that hadn't quite made it. "You don't have very good aim, do you?"

Shane: I shook my head. That was why I never played sports. "Sorry?"

Annika: I looked at him weird. "Why are you apologizing? It's not like you can help it."

Shane: I shrugged. "Well...okay," I said. What else could I really do? I turned back to trying to write lyrics.

Annika: I sighed again. Sometimes I wondered why I liked Shane, when we never had full conversations.

Shane: The bell rang. I stood up and ended up bumping into Annika. "S-Sorry," I said. Crap. I couldn't talk right to people for whatever reason.

Annika: Why was he stuttering? It's not like I was intimidating. "It's okay...?" I hadn't dropped my books or anything.

Shane: I sighed. "Sorry. I'm not good at talking to people..." Wow, had I just said that out loud? That was embarrassing.

Annika: I laughed slightly. "Well that explains a lot."

Shane: "It does?" I asked. "Um...cool...?"
