The Mind's Eye Café

Well, well, character. Looks like you managed to find your way here, huh? Or are you just lost? I'm not surprised...this is a huge mansion, after all. But whether you came here by accident or on purpose, you're here now. And that means that you're an awkward, underdeveloped character. Because they're the only ones who ever find this place.

Don't give me that look; you know that's what you are. You don't have a whole lot of voice just yet, and your author has no idea what to do with you. Why don't you help your author out by developing a personality here? In this café, you can gain your voice through talking to other characters as delightfully awkward as you are.

You might be wondering, "Isn't this the same as that rehab place?" The answer is no. This is a café reserved for those characters who haven't really spoken about themselves yet.

So find a table, dear character! There are seats inside and outside. Mingle with other characters! And who knows? You might just leave this place as a colorful and unique individual.

A'right. Well I guess I'm gonna start this thing....

Where am I? Annaleah walked in the door, cautiously glancing around. The lights flickered on as she entered. Cute little tables, warm golden walls, modern art...a cafe? "Hello?" She stepped further in, putting a hand on her hip. The knotting feeling of being lost began to soften, just a tad.

August really just wanted to go home. He didn't know where he was, or where he was going, and his shoes were falling apart...and he hadn't really sat down in hours...he saw a door. "Why not..." He wondered, and proceeded through it. There were chairs. He never thought he'd be so happy to see a chair. He sat on one immediately, sighing with satisfaction. He looked up and realised there was a girl there. "Em...hi."

"Oi, hi," Annaleah said awkwardly, looking around. "Ah...do you have any idea where this is?"

"No...Erm...I was hoping you did...I was just trying to get...Home." He said. "Uhm. What's your name?"

"Oh," Annaleah said, "Me too, actually. I'm Annaleah." Her lips curled up in a hint of a smile.

"I'm August." August said. "So...Erm...Do you know anything about this place?" He was hoping for any kind of information...ANY KIND. He wanted to go home. And he couldn't figure out how he could possibly do that here.

Annaleah plopped down in a modern chair next to a wall. "Lad, I think I'm just as lost as you are, unfortunately."

"Great." August muttered. "How am I suppoused to get home now?" He asked no one in particular.

"Improvise," Annaleah said simply, leaning back in her chair. It smelled like coffee in there, even if it seemed empty. May as well. She nimbly slid out of her chair, swung herself over the counter and grabbed a cup. "Me, I think I like this place. Cozy. I might stay for a few...do you want some?" She rummaged past dials and levers on the coffee machine.

"is there any hot chocolate?" His mother would have his head if he had any coffee. "I like hot chocolate..."

She filled two cups. Careful not to spill, she swung over the counter again and handed August the one with hot chocolate. "I'm not sure how good it is, but they've plenty back there." Then something dawned on her. She'd just stolen from a coffee shop without a second thought. She couldn't help but chuckle. Oi my my, Cricket must be rubbing off on her.

"That was neat. You have good balance..." August said, sipping the hot chocolate. It wasn't the best he'd ever had, but it was exponentially better than the from the box stuff.

"Thank you. And you have good...sitting skills," she said, sitting down again.

"Erm...yeah. Haven't gotten to sit for a long time actually..." August said somewhat awkwardly.

Annaleah sipped her coffee. "I'd think not. It's a big mansion..."

"Yeah...It's huge..."August agreed. "I don't even know how I got here..."

"Me neither! It's all a bit hazy to begin with," she said, beginning to grow a bit more suspicious of the place. "It's all very odd."

"Yeah... I mean...I just found myself in a hallway. I couldn't even tell you where I was before that..." August agreed.
