"I'm not totally sure...I mean...I'm not a psychiatrist, but I think that you're talking about her being bipolar." August suggested.

Nike
"I'm Nike," I said to the newcomer before turning to Ezra. "No. You are very ignorant. She doesn't have Multiple Personality Disorder; if she did, she would have multiple personalities! Stop being ignorant. Ignorance annoys me."

August liked how blunt Nike was. He hadn't noticed it before. "Erm...Yeah. That." August agreed with her somewhat awkwardly.

Ryan looked at all of them, "Im Ryan" he said, almost bored.

"Sorry...We were kinda...It's not important." August decided. "Do you have any Idea how you got here or are you just as lost as the rest of us?" He asked Ryan.

Ryan shrugged, "Last thing i remember was this party..." he said, "And now this" he gestured around the room.

Nike
"I was just wandering the halls of the mansion," I said. "This place is so huge..."

"So this is in a mansion?" Ryan wondered who owned it and why they were here

Nike
"Yeah..." I said, giving him a strange look. "Mr. Nobody's mansion...with all the doors to every piece of literature ever written... Get with the program, Ryan dear."

"Yeah...Wait...EVERY piece of literature?" August's eyes popped a bit. "Like...Like I could go watch...erm...I dunno...American Gods...like...Somewhere? That's awesome." He grinned.

Nike
"I dunno what that is, but...sure," I answered. "Whatever it is, as long as it's literature, it's in there. Er, here."

Ryan shrugged, "Yeah...i dont remember much. All i remember is that weird door and- Oh i see what you mean about the doors...Mr.Nobody? Seems like a weird name..."

Nike
"Mr. Nobody's a weird guy," I answered with a shrug. "Or so I've been told. I've never actually met him, but my writer has."

"That's kind of...the best thing ever. About the books I mean..." August said. "Wait. Wait...What does that mean then?" He realised that if all the doors in here led to books...then...Well...What did that mean for him, as a person? The unfortunate implication hit him a bit like a brick.

Nike
"It means you're a part of literature," I said. "We all are. What, you didn't know that? Very few people in this building are actually real people. But we're real in our own right, and they understand and respect that."
I saw no problems here.

Ryan sighed. He knew this, but still didnt exactly like it. To real people, he wasnt real. Just an imaginary character...

Ezra

I sighed, "In here we are real, outside...not so much."

"No...I didn't know that..."August said, looking a bit...well, perplexed. "But...If I'm not real..How come I can't be a ninja or something? Why am I even bothering to go home? If I'm not even real....why can't I just...I dunno...Go to space or something?" He asked.

Ezra

"Because our writers give us needs, wants, desires, hopes, dreams, etc. We don't decide." I told him.

Nike
"Well, we decide to a certain extent," I said. "Our writers can't make us do anything that we wouldn't normally do ourselves. But the reason you can't be a ninja or go into space, August, is because your writer won't allow it. All characters must abide by the rules of their stories."

Ezra
"But they create our personalities too," I said pointedly.

Nike
"That may be so," I began, "but we develop our personalities on our own. I mean, yeah, they supply the basics, but we take over pretty quickly. They create the world, create us, start us off, and then let us drive for the rest. They can steer us in different directions, but once we're developed as characters, we have an awful lot of control in the story's development."

"Oh. Well...That makes sense I guess." August said. "Wait...I can control the story a bit?" He grinned. "That's awesome."

"I guess," I said with a shrug. "Me, I don't like being in control. Never have, really. I'm perfectly fine with taking and carrying out orders."

Ezra
"Not me," I said smugly, shaking my head. "I've been told I'm undeveloped."
