Sound of Madness

"Yeah, I'm fine," Devon said smiling faintly and looking down at her. "We probably shouldn't sit like this...in case someone walks in."

"Yeah..." Demi frowned and slid off his lap. She understood that they needed to be careful, but she wanted to be able to be with him.

Devon kissed her quickly, leaving his arm around her shoulders. "I mean, we could always move upstairs again," He teased with a smirk.

"Yes, we could." Demi smirked back at him and kissed his lips lightly again.

"I was kidding, Demi. I'm not doing that again until you're actually ready," Devon said, leaning his head on the back edge of the couch.

Demi glanced up at him. "What if I was ready now?" she wasn't saying she was, but it was a simple question.

Devon shrugged. "Then we'd try that again." Duh.

Demi nodded and leaned against him again. There was a knox on the door and Demi looked up. "would you like me to get that or would you?" she asked him.

Devon shrugged and stood up. "I'll get it."
He went and opened the door.

Derek stood there, a letter in his hand. "I came by to give this to Demi. I was a the post office, and this being a small town the guy asked menif I could drop this off because he knew that I knew you guys." he explained, passing the envolope to him.

Devon stiffened at the sight of Derek and took the envelope. "Okay. Bye."

Carly was listening from the top of the stairs, watching the conversation. She wondered if that was really why Derek had come by.

Derek nodded but didn't move. "Can I at least say hi to Carly?" He asked softly.

Devon narrowed his eyes at him, but then nodded and moved aside. "You can say 'hi' that's all. You have five minutes."

Carly moved away from the staircase and into her room, in case Devon were to look up and see she'd been watching.

"Thank you." Derek nodded to him and rushed into the house and up the stairs. He knocked softly on her door, waiting for her to answer.

demi walked over tp Devon and saw Derek streak past her. "What was that about?" She asked him.

Devon shrugged and handed her the envelope. "He said this was for you."

Carly opened up the door and smiled slightly. "Oh, hey."

Demi took the envelope from him and gasped when she saw the emblem. She carefully ripped open the envelope, and smiled when she read the letter. "I made it...I made it!" She squealed.

Derek pushed into her room gently and kissed her. "Hi." He whispered to her when he finally pulled away.

"Made what?" Devon asked slowly.

Carly shrugged. "Hi..."
So he would kiss her now, but he didn't last night? Had he forgotten already?

"Theres this cheer camp, a little ways away from here...high class, best of the best get in. And I made it!" Demi couldnt stop looking at the letter in her hand.

Derek sighed. "Whats the matter?" He asked her softly.

"That's great, Demi." Devon grinned, pulling her into a hug. It was weird,though, because the Demi that knocked on their door that first day would be the type to want to cheer. But the Demi he'd begun to like didn't seem the type. It wouldn't change his mind about her, though.

"Nothing," Carly said, playing with one of her curls.

Demi smiled as he pulled her into a hug. She let her arms wrap around him. Right now she felt like she was ready.

"Your brother has only allowed me five minutes with you...Please tell me whats the matter? I dont want to have to leave things bad with you." Derek sighed softly.

"What kind of camp is it? Sleepaway?" Devon asked, stroking her hair.

"Fine. I kind of feel like you're putting on an act, pretending to be this perfect guy. You never acted this nice until we actually got close, really you got nice when the subject of, er... you know, came up. I just hope you aren't just trying to take advantage of me then...leave," Carly said, gulping.

"Didnt read that far yet. I guess it depends on how close you live." Demi shrugged. She smiled and sighed contently when he stroked her hair.

"I'm going slow so I dont take advantage of you. I'm waiting until you are ready so I wont leave you." derek told her softly. "I'm trying to be the best I can for you."

"How long is it?" Devon asked.

Carly shrugged. "Whatever."

"A couple weeks." Demi sighed.

Derek sighed and looked at the ground. "I'm trying here Carls...I really am. What do you want from me?"

"When?" Devon asked. "Sorry for all the questions, by the way."

"I don't know. Maybe I'm expecting too much," Carly said.
