Carefully Lark burped him, trying not to do anything wrong.

Sariah watched him with a smile as she adjusted her dress. "See, I told you so." she said reffering to the fact that he was a good father.

Artemis felt her legs give out "is he going to be okay?" she whispered

"Of course child. We will do all we can." The woman said, helping her up and following the men so she could finish tending to James.

Artemis stood back numbly, watching them work with empty eyes. If she lost him as well...

Lark smiled at her, holding Colton gently, "I guess so."

The woman finished with the herbs and gave James a drink that was suppose to help him. He was only partially awake.

Sariah smiled and kissed his cheek gently before laying down and curling up to sleep.

Artemis fell by his side "ja-james?" she squeaked, her hands fluttering over him helplessly

James turned his head to look at her, giving her a small smile. "I'm sorry. I should have been more careful." he murmered.

Lark watched them both, still holding Colton. A happy smile on his lips.

Artemis frowned "what a stupid thing to be sorry for" she felt his head "you feeling okay?"

Sariah soon fell asleep.

James gave a small nod. "I'm tired." He said quietly, his eyes closing for a minute. "And my chest is sore."

Artemis bit back the rush of tears "a heart attack?! how? you're so young" the tears came anyway

Lark felt his eyes droop a little with Colton safely tucked between him and Sariah on the bed.

James watched her and sighed, brushing the tears from her cheeks. "I don't know how." he murmered and pulled her onto the cot with him, ignoring the pain that came with it.

Sariah cuddled them both. The two most improtant men in her life.

Artemis cuddled up to him "what's gunna happen now?"

james sighed as he held her. "I get better, and then we go back to how things were I guess. We can't stop everything because of one thing."

Lark sighed happily and fell asleep.

The days passed for Lark and Sariah and soon Sariah found herself healing, her body no longer sore as it had been. She was outside hanging out their wash while Colton was in a little pouch like clothe she had slung arcoss her shoulder to hold him.

Lark came outside and put his hands over her eyes with a smile.

Sariah jumped and tried to look behind her and sighed when he wouldn't let her. "Lark, you're trouble." She said with a smile.

Artemis nodded dumbly and clung to him "sleep" she whispered "sleep, you need it "

Lark grinned, "Its not Lark...." he said in a goofy voice.

"Oh, well in that case I may have to find Lark so he can beat the tar out of you." Sariah chuckled.

James watched her, but he didn't need to be told twice. Almost as soon as she had said it he had closed his eyes, and drifted off to sleep with his arms tight around her.

Artremis stared up at the sky, her eyes hollow and accusing "don't you dare take this perfect soul from me" she whispered
