What You Own (based off my book)

(THIS IS BASED OFF MY BOOK, hence the monolith in the beginning… Just ask me questions about anything and I’ll be able to answer them. If I somehow get attached to your characters, they may have a chance to have a cameo in my book…as long as it would be alright with you.)


In 2213, the world is finally perfect. No wars, no hunger, no homeless people. Everyone has enough money to get by, everyone is treated equal. Or, that is what is said to the people of Rozze.

About the setting (so much to explain >.<)
The countries:
There are four countries now that live in harmony. Trading between them is easy and painless. The last threat of war died out decades ago.
Rozze:
Where North and South America used to be. Most people speak both English and Spanish so there is no longer a language barrier. Almost anyone can speak with anyone else. Traveling is easy as well, there aren’t any gangs or neighborhoods to be afraid of. Or so people believe (aka, gangs really exists but people don’t know much about them). A few underground networks (like The Lab, but I will get to that later) that only a choice few know about.
Leali:
Where Europe and Asia used to be. The British accent is very popular around this area and is the one mostly heard. A little drama has aroused the past couple years, the president’s daughter has gone missing (but that isn’t all that important in this chat.)
Aras:
Where Australia used to be. A relatively mellow place, not much happens. The Australian accent is still strong among the people.
Pitallina:
Where Africa was. most people who come from here are dark skinned and somewhat shy. They hold onto ancient traditions that not many others would still have.
Most of this will probably take place in Rozze because that is where the lab is.
The Lab:
A secret underground government facility in Rozze. It was started because the Rozze government wanted to create the super-soldier in case a war did break out. They kidnapped kids and started testing on them. Many died within the tests; others became broken (in an emotional, not physical sense). They are forced to live in cages like animals and are thought of as that. When the owner of the lab realized that these kids would never turn into the soldier, they decided on letting a choice few buy them as slaves. For some, they have only been sold once, for the more disobedient ones, they might have been sold, returned and sold again for who knows how many times. The lab was successful in giving the kids powers.

About the people/types of people:
Victor: The lab owner. He and his son Kal were head of the department that started the lab. They set up the tests and hired the scientists and guards. He runs the selling process and paperwork. He is a business man and only thinks of the slaves as animals and merchandise. He is roughly 54ish
Kal: Victors son. He runs the ground floor where they are kept. He regulates food for them and their living conditions. He views them as nothing, they are worse than dirt in his eyes. If one of them steps out of line, he teaches them a lesson then and there in front of the others. He is the reason for most of the scars that come from outside testing. Most slaves fear him. Is 27ish (does that sound right age wise? Hrm…)
Billi: One of Arlows slaves. She has a mind of her own, but does listen to him none-the-less. She can manipulate the elements...if she can control her emotions. She has no memory of who she was before the lab. Before arlow she has had 12 other masters and the scars to prove for it.
Evan: Another one of Arlows. He is head of the guards and make sure everything runs smoothly. He and billi had a thing, but he ruined it when he turned her in to save her life. Now that they are under the same house hold, stuff tends to get interesting.
Slaves: The kids in the lab. They are the ones trapped in cages. The cages block the powers they have. All have scars and have ratty looks to them. None of them are clean, and all of them are underweight. Some have broken bones but the lab will do nothing about it. Most have interesting names (Nox, Mokora, Tryx ect….)
Buyers/Masters: the choice few who have been allowed to know about the lab. Usual rich people who have money to spend on the slaves. All are clean and well fed in contrast to the slaves. Once they buy the slaves, they practically decide their fate (whether they will get enough to eat, if they will live with some freedom or if they will be worse off with them then they are in the labs, ect). They live in fancy houses and mansions and have (usually) a lot of land. Their houses would be hard to upkeep, hence the reasons for the slaves. Or they are lonely and want a companion, another reason to buy them. Others have other reasons that are unknown (until you come up with them).

Other stuff you need to know about:
Power-shackles: Small chainlike objects the lab gives to the buyers with a purchase of a slave. These metal instruments are used to contain a slave’s power so they don’t get out of hand. They can only come off with the buyers fingerprint, voice command and key, so a slave CANNOT get it off easily.
Slaves cannot escape their masters easily. The properties would be very hard to escape from and it would result in guards coming from the lab and re-abducting the slaves. That would mean they would be brought back to the lab to be re-sold or held there until their masters would come to claim them again. In most cases, a slave would be punished for any attempt of escape.
Master-slave relationships:
Romance is frowned upon, and rare among them (but is possible). Most master/buyers look down on their slaves. And most slaves resent them. Masters are allowed to treat slaves however they feel like, some are mean to the slaves and give harsh punishments, and some are niceish to them. Slaves are allowed to attempt to get under their masters skin and annoy them.

Rules:
Keep a 1:1 ratio for boys and girls AND slaves and masters.
NO one liners. I will give a couple warnings, but that is it.
NO power-playing (taking control of someone else’s characters actions without their ok)
NO God-modeling (giving your charcter so many powers that they are practically un-beatable.)
Please try to keep your character powers original and please don’t copy off of other people. And slaves are the only ones with powers, not buyers. Power limit is 2 per character, but I would prefer if you would try to keep it to 1 per so there are options for others.

Tryx sat with her back braced against the back of her lovely living aragement. She had a wonderful view of the filth of this place from the cage she was given. Dirt streaked her face and skin, making her look darker than she actually was. The dirt made all the kids look darker than they were.
She looked at the clock at the end of the hall and flinched when it chimed. Twelve o'clock on a friday. That meant a buying day. The low numbers of the kids dwindled even more on these days. She watched as the metal doors were open and people were let in. Part of her knew that she wasnt going to be bought, so she woundered why she was on the selling ground.

Jude wandered inside the lab, his hands shoved deep into his pockets and his face a slight scowl. He didn't want to be here longer than neccesary. He still had a lot of the chorse around the house that needed to be done and some things he didn't even let slaves do. He kicked a cage with a small boy in it to wake him and then looked him over. Not good enough. He kept walking down the aisles, checking everyone out. He needed someone small, light, someone breakable. His eyes kept glazing over people. maybe he could get a girl this time.

Tryx looked up at the guy who kicked a cage. "Careful!" She sneered at him, her eyes narrowed. She hated those who who hurt the kids because they could. The boy wasnt asleep, just nearly passed out. He, like the rest of the slaves, were terribly underfed and had very little energy because of it.

"Shut up, girl," Jude said, kicking her cage for good measure. The cage rattled and settled down on floor, a hollow noise echoing through the room. He wouldn't have some girl... Some property, at that. He kept looking and finally inquired about who was a good worker. Number 23, they told him. The snarky girl. He doubted it, but decided to buy her anyway. "The cage was opened and he looked down. "Get out."

Tryx growled at him but slowly got out of the cage. She stood to her full height, but he still towered over her. She swung her arm out to hit him for how he treated the boy and her, but was quickly intercepted by kal.
Her frail body was tossed to the ground by the man. "Sorry sir, this one has a few...issues. Feel free to be rough with her...she might learn a lesson." Kal glared down at her and handed the girl's buyer his change and papers for her. Tryx glared up at the both of them and slowly got to her feet.
"Go to hell, Kal." she snarled at him and was quickly back handed by him.
"Escort 23 and this young man back to his car. Make sure his new proerty doesn't try anything." kal instructed the guards as he glared down to the girl.

Jude shoved the girl in the back seat and sat in the front, thanking the gaurd without actually meaning it. He glanced back at her from his mirror and started off. "What's your name?" he asked her, his voice void of any emotion.

Kai sat in the back of her cage, her arms wrapped around her knees. Her bright hair hung near her waist, though it wasn't that long when she was standing. She looked at people as they went by, noticing their appraising glances or their curious inquiries about her. She put on a breathtaking smile for show but felt the pain behind it growing.

Tryx stumbled into the car and winces as she scaled her leg on the door. Her wrists were bound tightly with chain to keep her from attacking her new buyer. She strugled to buckle the seat belt and looked back at him in the mirror. "Tryx. Not that you care." she grumbled and tried to slip her wrists out of the tight chains.

Arlow walked into the lab and ignored the horrid conditions. He was just here to get a helper. Hopefully this would be a quick trip. He scanned the rows and saw a girl who was smiling. He stopped and bent down so he was at her level. "Hello." he offered a small smile.

Jude shrugged. "Well, it's not like I want to call you slave or girl. I like it, though, for the record." He muttered. "Are you cold or anything?" He asked, one hand hesitating toward at the heater. He might as well be civil until she started to act up.

"Hello," Kai said, cocking her head, pleasantly suprised that someone was actually making conversation instead of asking from afar. "My name is... Er. nevermind," she said, pointing to the number. She wasn't supposed to have any freedom like that here.

Tryx blinked at how...civil he was to her. For the first time ever, she didn't have a snarky comment. But she narrowed her eyes again, remembering how he acted no more then ten minutes ago in the lab. "Thanks, but I'm fine." she grumbled softly. "What about you, what am I supposed to call you?" She fought to keep her voice from turning bitter and cold.

Arrow sighed at her when she nearly said her name. He smiled to her again and stood up when kal started over. "Arlow, always a pleasure to see you." he offered a friendly grin, but Arlow ignored him.
"I'll take her," he pointed to the girls cage. Kal nodded and went off to grab paperwork for the girl. Arrow bent down to the girls level and looked over her again. He had the cage unlocked and stood up and stepped back so she could come out.

"Jude," he said with a small tiny smirk. "Don't call me master, though," he said. "I hate it." He focused on the road, speeding slightly until he got to his house. He opened her dorr, taking her arm and leading her inside. The inside of his house smelled sweet, like some sort of candle was constantly burning. He chuckled and nodded. "I'll put you to work tomorrow," he said, letting him go.

Kai stood and found she wasn't a whole lot shorter than him. Her clothing hung loose on her slim frame and her hair hung in tangled waves. He didn't seem like a completely horrible person, but sometimes things were extremely decieving.

Tryx stood there awkwardly with her hands infront of her. The chains were still intact and she needed him to take them off her. "Oy, jude! I'm kinda....erm...my hands..." she looked at him then at the chains on her wrist.
She looked around the house and felt out of place. Everything was clean while she had a layer of dirt on her think enough to use as soil for a potted plant.

Arlow smiled to her and took her paperwork from kal. He led her to his car and opened the passenger door for her. "So, what is your name?" he asked her as he ushered her into the car. He went around the other side and got iritis drivers seat. The car started smoothly and he started driving away from the lab.

(He didn't walk away)

Jude undid the chains and pointed out where the showers were and the fresh clothes. he stood in the kitchen, finishing off the food that one of his... Workers... Were making. He set out a few plates and served everything up, waiting for Tryx before he did anything.

"Kai," she said, blinking her big blue eyes in suprise. She hadn't been in a car for several years and she had never been in the front seat of one. She glanced back at him after looking at her slim fingers. Her hands were dirty and she didn't want to touch anything. "What's your name?"

(huh thought he did...)

Tryx rubbed her wrists and went to the showers as he pointed out. She washed the grime off her skin and out of her short hair. When she finished and looked in a mirror she almost didn't reconize herself. Her brown hair was actually light brown and not dirt colored, you could see her frckles and she actually had some color in her face.
She shook her head and pulled on some clean clothing. She managed to find a pair of cargo pants that fit her and a t-shirt. Ontop of the tshirt she pulled on a large hoody and pushed the sleeves up to her elbows. She tossed her old ratty cloning into the trash and left the bathroom and found her way back to the kitchen.

Arlow reached into the glove compartment and pulled out a hand wipe and angst of chips. This wasn't the first time he had picked someone up at the lab, so he came stocked with some food this time. "My name is Arlow. Feel free to eat." he passed the chips and hand wipe to her before putting his hands on the wheel again.

Kai glanced at the bag and set the bag of chips on the floor and using the hand wipe fiscally, cleaning her hands and face and neck. She looked at her hands, her eyes travelling up to her thin wrists and then back down to her fingertips and suprisingly clean nails.

Tryx walked back into the kitchen and over to the table. She looked at the food and back at her master. "What is this?" She asked, somewhat confused. Her stomach growled for the food that she saw. The sent reached her nose and she bit her lip to keep from whimpering. Was this some new form of torture? What did she do wrong?

Arlow chuckled softly at the girl as she cleaned herself with the one wipe. "You can take a shower when we get home. And don't worry about getting dirt on the inside of the car, i don't honestly care." He offered her a small smile and shifted lanes effortlessly. "But we probably should go over the rules of my house. I am pretty easy going, but if i have very little tolerance for disobedience. The other slaves will tell you about chores and what will be expected of you. You will be privileged with your own room and bathroom, but that can easily be taken away from you if you stash drugs, alcohol or anything else like that in your room. My house is a drug free zone, minus needed medicine." He started to explain, his tone somewhat strict.

"What does it look like?" Jude asked, wondering if she was stupid. "It's food. Sit down and eat it." He still had the chair pulled out for her and with one hand, he motioned for her to sit. The other workers had begun to eat and he looked at her expectantly. "It's not poisoned or anything."

Kai had basically toned him out during most of the rules, catching the jist of everything, but not really actually listening. She nodded when he was finished and crossed her arms over her chest. She wondered how far it would be. Maybe far enough so she could take a nap? No, probably not.

Tryx blinked at his tone and narrowed her eyes at him. She crossed to the seat and glared at him when she sat down. She looked down at the food and hesitantly picked up her fork. She knew it would hurt to eat at first, her stomach and body wouldnt be used to it. But at the same time she knew she had to.

Arlow pulled into the gated driveway and waited for Evan to open the gate for them. He stopped by the car before hand and Arlow rolled down the window. "Who's the new girl?" He asked, leaning against the door.
"Kai. Open the gate evan." he sighed, hands resting on the wheel.
"Alright sir." He walked over to the central comand station and pressed a series of buttons. the gates creeked open and Arlow drove in.
"the estate is garded full time, the fense will send of a signal if something heavier than 50 pounds touches it and will send a signal right away to the guards. They have a less than two minute reaction time so running away is just a bad idea. You can ask Billi, she's tried. And failed every time."

Kai nodded, still slightly zoned out, her blue eyes locked on the distance. She wasn't stupid enough to try and run. She wouldn't be stupid as the 'Billi' girl and end up in his warning stories. They parked and she waited until he got out to slide from her seat as well, lead in by some guard or something. She stood in the main room for a moment, not allowing her eyes to widen. As of now, she didn't have emotions.

Jude at his dinner silently and as soon as the last speck of food had entered his lips, a young girl seemed to appear from nowhere, scooping up the plate and bringing it to a large sink in a different room. He pursed his lips and debated telling her the rules. Nah, it would be unfair to the rest. They all had to learn the hard way.

Arlow hung up his coat and looked around the house. "Welcome to the house. Billi!" he waited a couple minutes while a girl with long black hair and pale skin showed up.
"Hey Arlow. What up?" She asked, her hands in her hoody pockets.
"Show Kai to the showers and then to the spare room. Help her get settled. She starts work tomorrow."

Tryx ate slowly at first, getting used to the feeling of real food in her mouth. This wasnt at all like the mush they fed her at the lab. This had substance and texture. It had taste. She finished and put her fork down. She looked around the table then back at Jude. What was going on in his mind?

Callum kept hs lips pressed into a tight line as he drove the girl, Mokora, back to his home. He only had one other worker and she was 13, fairly new, but she knew the rules and she wouldn't let Mokora stray. He pulled up his long winding driveway after entering the prison quality fence. There were guards sporadically placed and thefence was made from razor wire. He hadn't had anyone try to escape, but he was just taking precautions. He parked and got out, opening her door for her. Kitri ran out with a wide smile and waited for her intsructions. Callum had grown quite fond of her and treated her like he might treat a sister.

Lyra had explained her rules of security to Nox with a straight face, her eyes intently on his own silver ones. She couldn't deny that after a shower, he might be quite good looking. But she was a master. that kind of thinking was frowned upon. They had only been in the house for a few minutes. Even after she had ceased talking, she continued to start at him, as if he might say something.

Kai was shown to her room and she didn't hesitate to take a scalding hot shower, feeling revitalized. She changed into a pair of leggings and a long tunic that she found in a chest and sat on the bed she was given. Maybe she could find someone interesting to talk to around here. Maybe... Hopefully.

Jude watched as her plate was whisked away, too and then threw her a soft smile, trying to be cordial. "I'm not sure if you're the appreciative type, but you have a lot of freedom here," he said, but that was all. There were a lot more unsaid words between them and he had a lot on his mind.

Moko slowly got out of the car and looked around. It was strange to be away from Nox. She prayed silently that he would be alright. The fence had made her warey and she told herself that she would stay away from it unless instructed otherwise. She gave her master a small bow when he helped her out and kept her eyes on the ground. Her black hair fell in a veil around her face, hiding her scared eyes.

Nox listened to her and nodded once. "Alright." The only word he spoke for the moment. he let his hair fall into his eyes again, but still felt her gaze on him. He shoved his hands into his pockets and looked over his master. he loomed over her, but then again, he was taller than most.

Billi knocked on the girls door before entering slowly. "Dinners ready if you want any." She looked over the girl and smiled. "I remember you from the lab. You had the cage across from mine, didnt you?" She looked at the girl and offered a smile.

Tryx scoffed at the word and crossed her arms infront of her chest. "Freedom? Freedom would mean that my powers wouldnt be contained. having freedom wouldnt mean that I was bought and stuck here." She mumbled softly to herself.

Lyra had a young boy show Nox to his room and she walked into the kitchen to prepare dinner. She was making a stew, something simple. She liked to cook, so she didn't have any of the slaves do it. She tugged on the end of her apron and quickly began to cut up carrots. Her mind was happy, at peace, as she worked.

Kitri looked up at the girl, her smile widening. She really looked like a younger version of the girl. "Kitri, dear, show Mokora to her room, please," Callum said. "Of course, Callum," she said with a quick bow of her head. Callum walked into his study, sitting in a large armchair and opening up a paper, reading intently.

"Yeah," Kai said, nodding and looking up. "I'm not hungry, though," she said. kai didn't even compute hunger anymore. She wasn't as bone thing as some of the other slaves, but she was never hungry, either. She pulled her legs up onto the bed and watched the girl, her face still blank.

Jude shrugged. "I could just have you chained up to a wall," he said, raising an eyebrow at the girl and then getting up, stalking away to the living room area, lighting a fire in the fireplace and sitting on the rug, watching the flames grow, his face impassive.

Nox took a quick shower and changed into a loosely black fitting t-shirt and some jeans. He shook his head to let his hair dry out a bit before going into the kitchen. "Need any help?" He asked his master, standing in the door way with his hands behidn his back.

Moko looked down at the girl and offered a very small smile. The smile didnt quite reach her eyes. Her brown eyes held so much sadness these days. She missed Nox already and it had only been a few hours.
"Nice to meet you," She said softly to the girl.

Billi nodded to the girl and went to her door. "Well, I'm not one to miss a meal. This place is great and all, but you never know with arlow...He gets moody sometimes and treats us somewhat harshly." She explained before leaving the room. "I'll bring something up for you for later, how does that sound?" She asked, stopping in the door way.

Tryx rolled her eyes at what he said. "you could try." She mumbled softly. She may be small, but she put up one hell of a fight. She left the table and went upstairs. She wandered down the halls and tried to open any door she could.
