Better Of The Damned

Johnny: I laughed. Glad you picked up on it. I cleared my throat, even though i wasn't speaking. I was surprised how much that was needed. I guess when you don't talk for a day and a half, your voice tends to die...

Serena:You get use to it. I haven't talked in... I counted. seven months. I realized that I had accidentally read his mind. It's hard to filter what I'm supposed to hear, and what I'm not. Can we just agree that we can read each others' minds, as long as we don't mention anything that we shouldn't know? I knew that sounded complicated, but I couldn't explain it any other way.

Johnny: I grinned. Sounds good. But... we REALLY can't mention anything we hear, ok? i didn't feel like dealing with what she had to say about dad or Hayden.

Serena: I nodded and locked eyes with him for a moment before returning to looking at the rock picture. I think we both have things we'd rather not talk about. Of course that brought up images of Dr. Jovey, and his seven children. The picture originally included a blonde girl - Iliana ((She's from Serena's story, and in it her supposed father is a scientist. But I changed her background for Maybrook))- the one that had grown up as his daughter. But really I was his daughter, which made me completely sick. Johnny seeing this memory would reveal just how important I was to all the scientists. Which scared me. What if he decided I was too close in blood to the scientists to be trusted?

Johnny: I got her fright and stress and had to ask. Is there a specific memory you really dont want me to see? If so it's just as well. I kind of have one myself.

((Yeah, I know. Big difference from her real story, right? Or were you saying 'woah' that's a big paragraph? ha))

Serena: I sighed in relief. Then our deal hasn't gone into affect yet, good. Because I just thought of something I really don't want anyone knowing, so yes there is a specific memory. But I'm not sure how we can filter those out?

Johnny: Just tell me if i ever get too close to it. I'll stop right away. Same goes for you I shrugged. Easy enough. It would sort of be a cause and effect map

((*nods* Since Maybrook wasn't a sci-fi, I changed it. Her parents could be scientists for the government in Maybrook, maybe? So that the stories are a bit closer...))

Serena: Alright. I noticed a pretty-looking flower over by a tree stump and picked it. I played a game similar to 'he loves me, he loves me not', but instead chanted he'll kill me, he'll kill me not. Referring to my father, of course.

Johnny: I wasn't sure whether or not to laugh, so i didn't mention it. I just sat there, staring at her pick the flower, letting my mind wander.

Serena:It's not a humorous situation. But I am playing a game for five-year-olds, yes. I smiled slightly. I didn't smile much, having every reason not to.

Johnny: I laughed. Embrace the childhood you never had, I guess

Serena:No, I had a childhood. A headache filled one. Did you have one?

Johnny: Course i did. A headache filled one, I repeated. Here I went over the memory of my father leaving, emphasisng my confusion as a ten year old and how hard my father slammed the door, how tired my mother was and how she never had time for me, all the shouting... That answer it?

Serena: I nodded. At least you knew the cause of yours, though. I had migraines that no medication could fix. And still do.

Johnny: Well that sucks

Serena: I stood up and stretched. My throat didn't get sore, but my body did. Let's explore. Even though I know this place like the back of my hand.

Johnny: I smiled. Ok. I stood up and wondered why she wanted to explore a place she already knew.

Serena:Exploration is the best cure for boredom, that's why. I disappeared into a clump of trees, trying to find the worn path I had discovered awhile back.

Johnny: I always thought that was sleep... I climbed through the green, through the tree trunks and avoided moss.

Serena: When you're a sleepless person it's exploration. I found the path, and began walking along it, being careful not to wander off of it. Soon I saw the sparkle of water. This, this is the river. Basically the only water source here. I felt like a tour guide.

Johnny: I walked towards the river and splashed my face with water. That felt good i thought with a smile. I quickly dried my face with my shirt. Very pretty

Serena:Don't get use to it. This is where the scientists search for us first, so you want to come here as little as possible. Right now it was safe, since I had told them to give me a few days. I went over and sat on a rock, d angling my toes in the water. I felt a small energy, and saw a fish. I sent it a message, and laughed when it did a little flip in reply. Fish were too simple to use telepathy.

Johnny: I laughed at the fish. So we should probably find annother place to go to soon, right? I found myself dreading the answer. This place was so pretty.

((ZzZzZ in like... 15 mins... i had a LONG day... -.-))

Serena: I shook my head. We wont' have to worry about invasions for a few days, remember?

((Okay. It is almost three in the morning after all. At least where I am.))
