Johnny: I woke up, eyes burning, back aching. I slipped down the tree and walked to another one and sat down. Morning,

((bahaha. I call my best friend 'son'. And he's older than me...))

Serena:You're still here. Why? I didn't sleep, I never did. That was why there were always dark circles under my eyes. But I put eyeliner above those, to make it look like the circles were my makeup. Or shadows. Or anything but lack of sleep. I didn't need questions where I couldn't give answers.

Johnny: Well I don't really have a way to escape, now do I? I snickered. Whatd she mean 'why was I still here?'

Serena:Silencing your mind might work.

Johnny: I've had this 'ability' for a week now. Cut me some slack. I laughed, but it felt wrong. Everything was too serious for laughing....

Serena:Really? You're the only other telepath I've met who wasn't born this way. How did you get this 'ability'?

Johnny: I shrugged. When my whole came crashing around me and I sorta became mentally insane? Probably.

Serena: That simply, huh? I smiled slightly. You may prove to be as valuable to the scientists as I am. If they can figure out how to put a monitor in your brain, too. I shuddered at the image that came to mind.

Johnny: Im honestly not sure which I'd prefer: Dying or being a human monitering system.

Serena:Dying, I would say. Everyone hates you if you're a human monitoring system. I would know.

Johnny: I guess, now that you mention it...

Serena:And monitors are always alert, never getting any sleep. I absently traced one of the circles beneath my eyes.

Johnny: UNless they don't care what those scientists hear... I thought bitterly, wondering what kind of sick person wouldn't mind if innocent people died

Serena: Most people would. If they didn't, then they must not have any valuable information, and wouldn't have been picked in the first place. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.

Johnny: Bliss only comes to those who really don't deserve it... Example: Distressed, suicidal people could use a bit of bliss. Agree? I took a sharp rock from the ground and ran it across my wrist, not breaking the skin, but leaving a red line and a faint sting behind. Not sharp enough.

Serena: I gritted. There's a fine line between suicidal and stupid. Stupid people decide they are suicidal and act on it. Suicidal people deny it until it's too late. Therefore, he was being stupid by slitting his wrists. Why would he give the scientists exactly what they wanted? Maybe he just didn't have that determination.

Johnny: I tossed the rock away, accidentally letting my mind slip into hers. Before you get mad, I couldn't control that. And i do have the determination. Just wanted to see if I was suicidal or stupid. I grinned in my head.

Serena: Stupid people make excuses. I paused, realizing I hadn't hear anyone besides Johnny for awhile. Where did the others go? Did they decide to run? It's no use.

Johnny: I shrugged. Haven't really paid much attention to them. For all we know they could be dead.... Right? i shuddered at the thought. All of them had seemed young, my age, maybe.

Serena: I concentrated for a moment, closing my eyes. They're not. I can still hear their thoughts and feel their energy. None of us are dying...yet. I thought of my deal with the scientists, and wondered if I could avoid it.

Johnny: I sighed and rested my head on the tree trunk. I picked up rocks, i threw them, repeat, i flicked a bug crawling up my khaki shorts, i wiped the leaves and twigs from my red shirt and sighed. I am very bored.

Serena:Then find something to amuse yourself. I don't mind being bored - unless the buzzing starts. Then it's all I can focus on.

Johnny: I sighed and picked up a red rock, and began drawing on a gray one in the ground. I drew a stickman shaking his fist at a group of people.

Serena: I pointed to the stickman The scientists. It's sad that one of them can be equal to so many of us.
