"The other thing...? Oh. You mean luxet and silksteel. Silksteel is just like artificial spider-webs. Hard as anything, but incredibly light. Luxet is so named because it looks like crystallised light. It's actually a carefully contained plasma we use to make force-fields."

"Yeah. It sounds weird when I say it, but it's normal for us." Skipper frowns. "It's from the past when you had to eat all of an animal, or go hungry. Most of the time you ate the whole animal and went hungry anyway."
