Laura: "My father's name was Thomas." I said, looking him over.

Joel: "You remember stuff like that? And what do you mean by was?"

Laura: "He's dead."

Joel: "Oh," I said. I still remembered what that meant. "I'm sorry."

"Everyone's dead now," observes Thomas. "Everyone we ever loved or cared about."

Joel: I frowned. "I don't even have my memory, so I don't really know."

"Lucky you. I remember it all. Every. Single. Detail."

Joel: He sounded annoyed. I frowned. "Um...I'm really sorry about that..."

"Why would you be? You can't remember," snaps Thomas, his eyes glittering angrily. "I'm sorry. It's not your fault."

Laura: "Dad was overseas when the first wave hit. He was killed fighting them off. Mom was in my house in front of me. They killed her, I grabbed this machine gun and sent them back to Hell."

Joel: "I wish I remember how I lost my memory...or maybe whatever happened was so bad I lost my mind? I don't know."
