Cricket blinked away his fleeting confusion. It was for her. He watched in empathy for a second before stepping forward and ripping the needle away from her arm halfway through injection. "Please, don't do that to yourself."

My hand hangs above my arm still, i look away conflicting feelings flashing through my eyes. "I...I don't know any other way to stop this...this feeling..."

Cricket studied the needle in his hands, turning it in his fingers. He hoped the 'feeling' wasn't what he thought it was, though he couldn't find any other explanation. "...what exactly...are you feeling?"

I tense, not meeting his eyes. I cannot be feeling it. They would erase it from me, kill me if they couldn't. I open my mouth but cannot find the words. I feel myself blush. "I - I do not know what to call it," i finally say embarrassed.

Cricket didn't want to say it. He used the needle as an excuse not to look at her. "A little heartache, that's all...just don't do anything stupid. It's not worth beating yourself up over love--" he choked a little when that last word slipped out and coughed. It was a dangerous word. He hated it when it popped up so suddenly like that. Then he realised how much of a hypocryte he was, what with Annaleah.

I was afraid of that word. I snatch the needle back and stick my shoulder with it before throwing it away. "I can't. I can't! They'd hurt me for it. Terminate me if they couldn't force it out of me. A weapon isn't supposed to love..." I sob and grip the counter. The word gains a meaning but i'm scared of it. I clutch my head, the feeling starting to go away but the 'heartache' still an empty hole in my chest. "Not supposed to - feel and - and i can't... I - I'm scared..."

Red Wing pressed down with more of his weight. He was getting tired of this kid's rambling. He struck him hard across the jaw with his rifle. "Next word I hear I'll make sure it breaks, smartass. Any questions?"

Cricket cut her off by putting his hands on her shoulders. "Get ahold of yourself lassy. I've been there." He slipped away. Ouch. Guilt. Why so much of it? He took a breath and looked at her again. "Just...one word. You've got yourself a situation, but honestly...all th' risk, and confusion, and hurt...you don't want t' waste it on me."

"Augh!" I cried, in spite of myself. For a few moments, my breath came in rapid, shaky bursts. "Eef eet bhrakes," I managed between gasps, "'oo weell tell you about soulbondehrs?"

Red Wing leaned in. "You. We have the resources to heal you at a whim and break it again whenever I want you to shut up." He raised his gun. "Any more questions?"

Red Wing stuck him in the jaw again. "Shut up." He stepped off, only to take the prisoner's shirt collar in a death grip and throw him up against a wall. He was feeling vengeful today. Time to blow off steam. Maybe find some useful information in the process.

Sparks flashed before my eyes as my body--and namely my head--connected with the cold, hard wall.
"Heh..." I breathed. "You ask me a question, zen 'eet me and tell me to shut up when I answehr you..."

Just out of curiousity, would it be too much of a complication if his jaw actually did get broken? 'cause if this were comepletely realistic Red Wing might have done that by now. But I was like, meh, I don't wanna do that 'cause then he can't talk and I would feel bad and it might make things hard.

Red Wing pressed his gun against his collar bone and shot, watching him wince. "It's very entertaining, actually." He wondered how long it would take him to give in, or if he would have to force him to shut up before then.

((That would be pretty tough, seeing as he doesn't even speak English perfectly to begin with.))

I sharply drew a breath, trying to quash the shout of pain that wished very badly to escape my throat. I didn't want to give him that satisfaction. Still, I couldn't keep my chest from quaking as fire coursed through my shoulder. What was this guy trying to accomplish?

Alright, that's what I thought. His jaw shall be spared! Gah...hurting people's charries is hard >.> I know you said beat the sh** out of him but...

And hmm...still trying to figure out Red Wing's motivation...he's not really interrogating at the moment. So maybe he's just being a meanie face / is a phsyco that enjoys inflicting pain. Creepy...

Red Wing dug his gun into the new wound before throwing him to the ground again. "Fight back already! You're boring me, kid."

I shake but manage to stand, hug myself. "I can't - can't help it."

Gah...I am SO hating Red Wing right now....

Cricket shook his head. "Try. A'right?" he said softly. "You're wasting your time with me."

As an aside, Red Wing is gonna be feeling as though his blood became acid in a few moments. Like, excruciating, searing, so-bad-you're-kicking-and-failing, dear-God-just-take-me-now kinda pain.

Aiolii bashed into Red Wing's soul with thunderous force, stomping a hoof down hard on its chest. As my energy was much larger by far than Red Wing's, his soul would have a pretty tough time throwing Aiolii off. Of course, if he could manage it, Red Wing could probably shoot me again...which was not an outcome I was particularly fond of.

Red Wing cried out and dropped to the floor, swearing and pulling the trigger of his gun at whatever it happened to be pointing at.

Cricket took a subtle step back when he saw the shift. "You want it t' stop? Let me go! You'll never 'ave t' see me again," he thought aloud, though he knew that wouldn't be much use. Even on the slim chance that she would do something like that, he would have to come back. For everyone else.
