Just Plain Bad (Character Development, but with a twist)

((Mild versions of hereditary illnesses, ftw. *Virtual high-five*. Do you mean curved as in the same direction as usual, or different?))

"I believe that that is something we have in common," agrees Desiderata. "I know I'm always stealing political prisoners or alien technology from my erstwhile lover."

(lol xD. ummm I actually don't know. It's not entirely visible on me since it's such a mild case, but I know it's not good, haha.)

Aaron: I laughed. "Stealing is always fun, no matte who it's from."

"So what've you stolen from me?" asks Desiderata. "Don't try to hide it."

((Fair do's. People are often surprised to find that I have cystic fibrosis, since people with CF are normally stunted and weak. As I'm 6'4" and slightly troll-shaped, it isn't the most obvious of medical conditions.))

Aaron: I raised an eyebrow. "Nothing except your time, if that counts."

(hm, it makes me want to research it a little bit more. I'm into pharmacy right now xD.)

"Yet. That's the important word, isn't it?" desiderata throws back her head and laughs. "If I hadn't caught you, you would've rinsed the place clean by now."

Aaron: I smirked. "I don't know. Do you have things worth stealing?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Desiderata half-smiles. "Follow me."
She stands up and sashays over to a seemingly blank wall. With a gesture, she summons a hologram projection of a keypad, and enters a seemingly simple sequence.
"I hope you realise that that wall is also a retinal scanner and fingerprint reader," remarks Desiderata as the wall slides into the ceiling.

Aaron: I sighed. "Yes, okay, whatever," I said. Security and whatever. Yay.

"So, what valuable items do you want to see? Biological experiments? Theoretically impossible technology? Technically mythical jewellery?"

Aaron: I shrugged. "Whatever you want to show me."

"Okay, biological experiments it is," replies Desiderata. "I'm quite pleased to say that we have managed to keep this man alive for two years, despite the fact that he is now nothing more than a collection of organs and a brain, all suspended in a tank."
Desiderata Malquefaux leads Aaron down a corridor, and gestures at the first of the abominations.
"It's for the supersoldier program. Now if we can condense the space required, we can fit him inside a modified war engine to act as a pilot."

Aaron: "Interesting," I murmured. "I specialize in electronics. But medical related science is the most amazing of all. Did you do this all yourself?"

"Yes," replies Desiderata, despite the fact that she only came up with the idea and watched it being done. "All my own work. He's a happy chappy, isn't he?"
She taps the side of the tank, and some of the organs twitch.

Aaron: I took a deep breath. "I can't decide if that's disturbing or amazing."

"Oh, it's quite tame in comparison to some of the experiments," remarks Desiderata. "We were conducting pain threshold tests a while ago. The screams were almost harmonious."

Aaron: I couldn't help smiling. "Ah, the beautiful sound of others' pain..."

Desiderata looks at him strangely. "That wasn't quite what I meant, but now that you mention it, yes. It does have a lovely sound to it."

Aaron: I nodded. "Yes. It's beautiful unless it's your own."

"Quite," replies Desiderata, giving Aaron a sidelong look. "It's particularly pleasant when it's someone you don't like."

Aaron: I nodded. "It is especially so," I replied, placing my hands in my pockets, looking around the room.

"So," says Desiderata. "Anything you want to talk about?"

Aaron: I shrugged. "Like I said, I don't talk about myself much."

"I could make you talk," points out Desiderata. "And while you might like some of my methods, you certainly wouldn't like the others."

Aaron: "Well, ask me questions. I'm not good at coming up with my own."
