Just Plain Bad (Character Development, but with a twist)

"Do you have any remaining family?" asks Desiderata. "I will know if you lie."

Aaron: "I do, actually. Two sisters and parents. What about you?"

"I don't know or care about my parents. Weak fools." Desiderata's lip curls in contempt. "But I have three children. Maternal triplets. two boys and a girl."

Aaron: "I don't like my parents either. Never understood me." I sighed. "Ah, and who's the father?"

"Noronel Justick," replies Desiderata. "My arch-nemesis. Before you ask, no. It wasn't rape. Or if it was, he was in no position to do anything about it."

Aaron: I raised an eyebrow. "I see," I said. "I have my reasons for avoiding sexual contact if at all possible. Doesn't really appeal to me."

"Please explain." Amid the bizarre and upsetting experiments, Desiderata steeples all four sets of fingers.

Aaron: I sighed. "I don't know. Girls...I don't really know what to think of them."

Desiderata chuckles meaningfully. "Go on."

Aaron: "What do you mean? They're just so...ugh. Too much work. So fun to kill."

"Hmm. So not a family man, then?"

Aaron: I smirked. "You have no idea."

"Are you agreeing with me, or aren't you?" Desiderata's face starts to look a little stormy.

Aaron: "I'm agreeing with you, yeah," I said, shrugging.

"Ah." Desiderata inclines her head slightly. "You should learn to be good with women. It could be a powerful tool in your arsenal. Unlike Justick, who is a powerful arse, and a bit of a tool."

Aaron: I shrugged. "You could give me some tips."

Desiderate smiles, and beckons him out into the main room. The door to the experimental laboratory hisses shut behind them, and malquefaux lounges langorously in her armchair. "Where do you want to start?"

Aaron: "I need all the help I can get. Start wherever."

((By the way, I don't see this as turning into a romance thread, as while Desiderata could be considered attractive, most human males find her attractive and upsetting in equal measures))

"You're not a bad-looking kid, so you might find that complimenting a girl would get you a long way." Desiderata spreads her four arms almost challengingly. "Try it now."
She fixes him with eyes that are uncannily similar to the eyes of the raptors on Jurassic Park.

(haha I don't either! Aaron's too...Aaron.)
(bwahaha Aaron does have his looks, though.)

Aaron: I allowed a smile to come to my face and lightly brushed one of her arms. "Hey. Nice hair."

"Ohhh," hisses Desiderata. "Nice try, but not good enough." She strokes the long crimson quills that project from her scalp like the back end of a porcupine. "This isn't hair."

Aaron: I sighed. "Then I shouldn't be petting it, should I?"

"Hair would be an acceptable compliment to a human female, perhaps," replies Desiderata. "But you must be more observant."

Aaron: I sighed. "I'm not good at this compliment thing."

"Give it another try. And this time, think observation."
Desiderata refuses to let Aaron's dislike of this practice stop her receiving the compliments she narcissistically sees as her due.
