C. D. - character development

David:
"New ruler my a**!" I bark and whip out my sword. I am very touchy on the subject of being ruled because Palamon is in constant dissaray of rulers. "I swear my allegiance to no man but the rider of Ga'ard!" My sword still out I look at Leslie and ask, "How will we save Andrew by the way?"

Kiera:
I growl and smoke starts to stream from my nostrils.

(Since no one here has read my book I'm just gonna explain Ga'ard so no one is confused. Ga'ard is a dragon from myth and legend in my book, the dragons don't have gods but he is as close as it will get. In my book he comes back and whichever human, elf, dwarf, or any other sentient creature in Palamon he deems worthy to be his rider will be the true king of Palamon and who David and Kiera will pledge allegiance to)

Leslie
I turned to the Ventrix guy first.
"If you try to attack them," I told him, "it is very likely that you will be killed. The amount of corpses that surround you will depend on how well you fight. They won't be corpses per se, however; they'll be useless vessels waiting to be fixed up and reoccupied. You can't kill immortals." I turned to David next. "I apply a glamour, sneak in, track him down, bring him back. I make it sound easy, though. While tracking him will be simple--I've been around him long enough now to know his scent--both sneaking around in the Upper World and bringing him back from it will be hard. I'll have to be extra careful."

Aria
"Pah!" I scoffed. "They're not oblivious to it. They know fully well what they're doing. They're just greedy, corrupted bastards who don't give two shits about the people."

"Wait...so what does that make Andrew?" asked Ezra.

"It was the same way in Ireland." said Andrew, shaking his head. "They care more about the money. And actually I'm a hundred and fifteen."

Leslie
"What do you mean 'what does that make Andrew?'" I asked.

Aria
"Good for you," I said sarcastically. "I'm nearly five times your age. And I'm young for an angel."

"Is he "immortal"?" asked Ezra.

"Aww but you don't look a day over three hundred!" Andrew winked.

Leslie
"Yes and no," I answered. "He can't die at this point, but he can still be recycled."

Aria
"Har har," I said, unamused.

(Evan was a giant but Ezra fixed it, Andrew got captured and was taken up into heaven by Aria, and Ezra's going to transport them to heaven to get him back...but it's not like he wants to...)

"How old's he?" asked Andrew, nodding his head at Ezekiel.

"What if he doesn't want to be recylcled?" asked Ezra.

There is an audible click as a hundred Norlan blast-muskets are cocked, all pointing at David. Kraf Ventrix draws his sabre and levels it at david.
"Your arse it is then," he says coolly. "By which I mean, I don't care how many body-parts you wish to name, this place is under new management."
He looks at Leslie. "I don't care what it is we have to fight. I may not be able to kill immortals, but if I can kill their bodies then that will do. I expect a diversion would prove an asset to your stealth, and nothing is more diverting than an invasion."

David:
I look up at Kiera and hiss, "Fry them!"

Kiera:
I smile and open my mouth flame shoots out at no one in particular. When the fire has dissapeared David and I are gone. We have made a strategice relocation to the rear, in other words, a retreat.

Dan:
"I aint to keen on the idea of someone else taking over either" I say seriously, "I'll fight if I need to!" I hold up my hand and display the sparks bouncing across my fingertips.

"STOP FIGHTING!!!!!!" Liz screamed. "IT WON'T HELP US GET ANDREW BACK!!!!"

Ezra chuckled, sometimes Liz was just as scary as Cassie.

Many of the Norlan's have been burned to a crisp by the flames. Kraf Ventrix summons one of his aides, a young woman with a heavy backpack that looks a bit like a WWI radio with gramophone horns. He removes the mouthpiece from the pack and speaks into it, amplifying his voice enormously.
"KILL THE DRAGON. IF POSSIBLE, TAKE THE BOY ALIVE. FORM UP, ARMY OF THE NORTH."
Kraf Ventrix storms towards David and Kiera.
"FIRST RANK, FIRE! SECOND RANK, FIRE!"
In standard musket drill, each rank fires, then crouches to reload. The hail of lead is truly frightening. While Norlan weapons have a limited range and low accuracy, their projectiles are truly fearsome and punch through thick armour with ease.

"Andrew can wait," said Ezra to Liz.

"We are NOT leaving him up there." glared Liz.

"Well what do you want me to do about it?" he shot back.

"I DON'T KNOW..... SOMETHING!!!!!"

Aria
"Nearly seven-hundred," Ezekiel answered gruffly, "which translates to early twenties in human years. Why? Whatsit matter to you?" He fixed him with a hard stare.

Leslie
"Whoah, whoah, whoah!" I called. "Whoever said I was taking all you mortals up to Heaven? I only wanted Ezra here to send me! I can't bring you all; it's far too dangerous for you deathers, powers or not!"

"I'm going with you." said Liz.

"I'm not letting her go alone," sighed Ezra, "so I guess that means I have to go to..."

"It doesn't matter! I was just curious." Andrew laughed. "So are you an Archangel? (to Ezekiel)"

Leslie
"No you're not!" I said. "Look, if you die up there...!" I trailed off, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Heaven is not where dead mortals want to be. You know how you guys make Hell out to be a horrible place? Switch your definitions of Heaven and Hell, and you might come close. Only, instead of fire, Heaven is filled with slums. And poverty."

Aria
Ezekiel and I exchanged glances, then cracked up. Along with the whole rest of the mercenary ring.
"Yeah right!" someone hollered.
"Archangel my ass!" another laughed.
"Look, kid, do you see a halo?" Ezekiel said, still grinning, pointing to the empty space above his head.

"I have to go!" exclaimed Liz.

Leslie
"And risk not only death but being sold into eternal servitude to some random angel?" I asked. "You have to understand exactly what you're in for."

"She'd do it for Andrew..." mumbled Ezra.

"Sorry...you two just seem to be in charge of this....um...angel mafia?"

Leslie
"Fine. Whatever. Fine!" I said, fed up. "More mortals for me to babysit. Whoopie!" I sighed.

Aria
"Mafia!" I laughed. "We're mercenaries, kid. And we're one ring out of countless others."

"Black market equals mafia...but I wasn't in either so..."

Aria
"Black market equals mafia?" I asked. "Who told you that nonsense?"
