"Yeah, but I don't think Derek's any good for her," Devon said. "And hey, you're a teenage girl and you don't have one."

"Derek isn't good for a lot of people." Demi laughed lightly. She sighed at what he said. "I've actually been single for a month and a half now. Not that I really care." she actually did, but because of her last break up she found hersldr looking for the right guy.

"I've been single for a year." Devon kicked a stone."Not that you asked...and yeah, Derek isn't good for anyone in this house, that's why he's gone."

"I don't understand why you be singel that long. You seem sweet enough," demi offered a smile up to him. "Derek is just...Derek. You acts without thinking sometimes."

"Ever thought that maybe I /want/ to be single?" Devon asked. He hated how some people thought they /needed/ someone.

"That thought crossed my mind a couple times. I just think you'd have a girl if you wanted." Demi clarified.

Devon chuckled and shook his head, looking out into the backyard. "The only one I want right now is back home, where Carly and I ran away, and she's off with some dickwad who has a motorcycle."

(-made up on-the-spot second reason for Devon not to like motorcycles-)

"Who?" Demi asked him, turning around fully to face him. This sounded interesting.

"You don't know her, why does it matter?" Devon said.

"Because I like hearing love stories." Demi explained. "Even if I dont have someone, I like hearing about other people's elses someones."

"She's not my "someone" anymore. There isn't much to our story, anyway. Dated for a couple years and then she met some guy and ... the end." Devon shrugged.

"A couple years? That is deffinatly a story. and if you still love her then she is still your 'someone'." Demi pointed out, smiling to him. Slowly, and she wasnt even sure why or how it happened, she felt as if Devon was her 'someone'. not that she would tell him. he was just sweet, and protective, and she had a feeling he wouldnt hurt her like others had.

"Yeah, but I'm not her's. So it doesn't make a difference," Devon countered.

"Whatever you say," Demi shrugged, but still smiled up to him.

"Why are you smiling?" Devon said.

"I dunno. I feel...smiley today." Demi laughed lightly and shook her head. "Oh gosh....i'm going insane arent I?"

"I don't know," Devon mumbled, now she was creeping him out a little.

"I guess it's just been a long day...or week for me. Last night was the first time i had slept in three days and i actually stayed up to who knows when with you playing - or attempting to play - video games." Demi rubbed the back of her head and yawned softly.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that," Devon said with a slight smile. "You're the only girl so far who has actually played with me."

"Really?" Demi smiled again, but not as widely, more like a sweet smile. Just a slight smile, but it still reached her eyes. "I feel loved."

Devon laughed. "Sure. Loved."

"Well, hey. I am the first girl that you let play videogames with. I take taht as feeling loved!" Demi laughed lightly and smiled up to him.

"No, I said you were the first girl that actually /would/, I've offered it to girls before," Devon clarified.

Max: "Do you like confusing me or something?"

"No, but I like it when I can get out of talking about certain things," Dana said, smiling in amusement.
