Till Death Do Us Part..

Mark was still asleep, the dark circles under his eyes fading only slightly after months of no sleep, one day was barely any.

Artemis startled as she realized she was in his arms. She quickly scrambled out and settled onto the couch, ignoring her stomach and passing out again

Mark forced his body awake a few hours later. He saw Artemis asleep on the couch and sighed. He ran a hand through his hair and stood, walking out of the room quietly, taking a key with him, and going to get breakfast.

Artemis remained asleep as a dark figure entered the room, it's sights set on her

Mark came back with a bag brimming with McDonalds breakfast. He opened the door and growled, snapping his wrist, his sword came out and he set down the bag of Mcky D's and began to fight with the level two searcher.

Aretmis startled awake, her scream filling the air as she fumbled for her own fancy light up sword

The searcher slashed Mark's chest, but he quickly dug his blade into the searcher, giving a quick twist, and the creature turned into ash. Mark dropped to his knees and bent forward, trying to catch his breath, feeling exauhsted.

"Mark!" she exclaimed, falling in besides him "mark?"

"Are you alright?" Mark asked between winded breaths, forcing himself to sit up and look at her, his chest bleeding, shirt torn.

"me?" artemis scoffed "what about you?"

Mark gave a small smile and nodded. "I'm fine." He managed to say and took a deep breath to even his breathing. "There's breakfast on the desk. The McSkillet burritos are mine. There should be four of those. The rest is for you."

Artemis struggled to life him up and return him to the bed, ignoring the food "how bad is your chest, let me see"

Mark graoned as he leaned back on the bed. "I'm fine, Artemis." He muttered with a frown. Five deep slashes ran across his chest over multiple scars that already ran across his chest.

Artemis scoffed and pulled out a first aid kit, "doesn't seem it"

Mark sighed and watched her. "Can I at least have one of my burritos?" His stomach growled as if to emphasize his hunger

Artemis sighed and fetched the food, laying it down besides him "they're never going to leave us be.. are they?"

Mark sat up and unwrapped a sandwhich, handing it to her, then opened his burrito. "Not really," he said around a bite. "But you get use to it after the first twenty years or so." He shrugged.

Artemis placed down the sandwich, not in the mood to eat, she almost never was anymore.
"...why does the council leave us to die?" Artemis asked, her voice quiet and filled of hurt

Mark sighed and watched her. "Eat that sandwhich," He muttered and took another bite of his burrito. "They leave you, because there is a surpluss so to speak. If there were to many mediators, it wouldn't be long until all the normals would know about the gate and those still wandering, and all hell would break loose. Litterally."

"I don't like them" Artemis mumbled, ignoring the food

"The food, or the council?" Mark watched her. "Eat the food, or I'll make you eat it."

"The council" artemis sighed, picking at her food "how come they are allowed to let so many lives.. get murdered?"

Mark looked at his burrito and shrugged. He finished it off and started on his second one. "I honestly don't know."

Artemis dropped her sandwich, never having taken a bit of it anyway, and inspected his chest "you okay?"
