Better Of The Damned

Johnny: I nodded and continued walking along in the forest, climbed into a tree and slept, hoping she wouldn't creep into my dreams. My strong, emotion filled, HATRED filled dreams.

Serena: I caught that. Thoughts that are directly about me tend to slip through my barriers.

(Oh...sorry 'bout that. I'm a little clueless today if you can't tell.)
Katherine: I got sick of walking around, and seeing the same scenery everywhere. Then I remembered...they wanted to take Mikey too. I turned and headed back in a brisk, hurried pace. Did they take him, and I didn't notice because I was a coward and ran away? I hated that...that I just ran away from my fears instead of confront them head on. I was relieved when I came back to the site, and saw that he was still there. I wasn't too sure if I hated him or not, but still...the scientists didn't take him too. That'd just be a victory for them that I wouldn't dream of giving them.

Johnny: Then you'll know not to read my dreams, i thought, mustering all the cheerfulness I could as I slipped into a dormant state.

Mikey: I sighed and put my hands in my pockets, and then I saw Katherine. "They didn't take you either, huh?"

Serena: I was not planning to. Dreams are depressing.

Katherine: "Nope." Why didn't they though? They seemed so bent on it, but then they just disappear as quickly as they had come. Did they have other plans? What were those plans?

Johnny: Whoops. couldn't answer. Fell asleep. ANd of course, out came my father's angry face as he stormed out of the house, there was Hayden staring at me, shocked. I was asking- pleading for her to help me, but she grew angry and stormed out too.... Why did people always leave me?

Mikey: "That's a relief." I cautiously looked around, making sure they weren't down here watching us.

Serena: I guess stopping the conversation is your way of saying 'goodbye'. I cut the connection.

Katherine: I knew what he was looking for. "They're not. I looked as I walked back here." I almost put 'Trust me.' at the beginning, but knew that wasn't possible.

Mikey: I didn't want to believe that they weren't here, but I didn't want to seem like a bad person either, "Fine then."

Katherine: I mumbled matter-of-factly, "Just trying to help a little."

Mikey: "It's just that we can't let our guard down."

Katherine: "I know that." I sighed, and then explained, because I realized how bitter that sounded. "I've been doing that ever since I got here."

Mikey: "Same here."

Katherine: I half-smiled as I looked away from him for a moment to scan the perimeter again. Nothing was wrong. Yet. "How long have you been here, if you don't mind me asking?" I kept the tone of my voice calm and even.

Mikey: "I've been here at least 32 days. I first was brought here when the experiments started. What about you?"

Katherine: I thought for a moment, "I've been here for about 22." I wasn't too sure, it was hard to keep track of the number of days when you're on guard most of the time.

Mikey: "I hate how these 'people' can treat us like this!"

Katherine: I just nodded in agreement, not trying to get worked up myself, but my teeth clentched together nevertheless. I spoke, trying to keep as calm as I could. "I wonder how human beings can do this to another, but then I finally realize these aren't humans. They have no respect for human life or dignity. They cage us here like wild animals, forgetting that we're human beings, worthy of rights, dignity, and most of all freedom." It truly angered me. Why could they just let us be? Why did we have to be here?

Mikey: "But I'm not exactly a human, you know. I get where they are coming from, but we are people too. We may not be what they call 'human', but we most certainly are living people."
