The Pendant

Luke: "She thinks I'm a good pick for you." I left out the part about her father, not sure if that was something she wanted to hear.

Courtney: "HEY!" I said, laughing.

Serene - "That's good," I say, "but that's the thing, you're a good pick for me, but what if you aren't the one? What if that girl is and I'm disowned and a human? You wouldn't want me then," I say knowing that it was what was going to happen.

Luke: "Er..." That wasn't true, so I didn't know where THAT came from... "Not necessarily. I don't care much if someone can make a shadow dance or if they can live forever..."

Courtney: "Did the parents say any comments about me?"

Jake - "No, mom was too preoccupied with wanting Serene to find true love and dad was trying to make her be the hard little demon child he trained her to be, she's their favorite," I growl.

Serene - "But..." I pause, "everyone I love says that powers matter most."

Luke: I shook my head. "Nah. It doesn't matter to me." I shrugged.

Courtney: I raised my eyebrows and laughed. "Its okay. Your my favorite. Ha. Corny..." I patted his shoulder.

O: Right outside of my room. Could i never escape this talk of family and power? I suppose this was what i got for coming here. The lovely question of why popped into my head again and i cast it away just as quickly. If i started 'what if'ing now, then my entire life would fall apart.

Luke: "The October girl's getting anxious..." I muttered as we passed her room.

Jake - "But it made me feel better," I tell her.

Serene - "Thanks, the truth is that I could care less about the power, I just like being part of a family, that's all this has ever been about, family," I sigh. "She should get the pendant," I say. "maybe she could fix this screwed up family with the screwed up traditions."

((She being October?))

Courtney: I laughed. "Mission accomplished." I looked around the room. "So. Every girl committed suicide, huh?" I smirked at the silly story.

Luke: "But then you'd lose your family. I'll try and get it. I promise. Anyway, I don't think Jake would like marrying her. He prefers Courtney, it's clear in his thought process."

Jake - "It's true actually," I laugh, "as stupid as it sounds, it is."

Serene - "Jake is arrogant and likes the ones that aren't right for him. You can try to get it, but if you don't I'll be fine, I'm tough, I can make it on my own."

Courtney: My smile disappeared. "Damn. That's just downright creepy now. How in the world did you get the stains off the walls and carpet?" I asked in pure shock, though a smile played at my lips.

Luke: "Even if you can, I'll still do something to make it lighter on you." If Jake got disowned then fine... I mean, I'd probably do something nice for him too, but still...

O: [i]Don't make promises you might not be able to keep, silly boy...[/i] I rolled my eyes as i bent down and got my duffel bag from the floor. I riffled through it and found my photo of my father and brother. I set them on the nighttable before hauling out my laptop and charger. Hopefully this mansion had wifi....

Jake - "It was simple, with my mother's stern ability to get any stain on out anything," I laugh... "Including the tub."

Serene - "You don't know that," I say, "but I'm sure you'll try."

O: It'd be interesting, that's a fact... All this competition was stupid. No one could make the pendent suddenly like them. Ms. Land had clearly explained that it chose who it wanted.

Luke:I remained quiet.

Courtney: I laughed with him. "Mkay. Well if you see that I've committed suicide sometime just know I tried 50% of my best."

Serene - I sigh, "Anyway, this is the game room," I point out.

Jake - "I'm sure you're strong enough to handle it," I laugh.

O: And then it quickly got boring in her room. She stood and left looking down the hall both ways deciding which to explore. She decided to stay upstairs, since she hasn't seen much of it and went right.

Courtney: I looked out the door and saw the other girl walking. "Could you close the door?" I asked Jake.

Luke: "A game room?" So I really wouldn't be bored. Ugh. "I think I'll go to bed..." I turned around abruptly and walked back to my room.

Serene - I watch him leave and sigh.

Jake - I shut the door.

Courtney: I looked over at the shadow of him the light casted and I threw it against the wall, making it dance. I cracked a smile. "I can make you do that too, you know"

Luke: "Sorry!" i called out, as I turned the corner.

Serene - I smile and head to my room.

Jake - "Nah, that's my sister's thing, kinda."

Courtney: I smiled mischievously and plopped fown on my back. "Sometimes I hate being an insomniac."

Jake - "As in you can't sleep?" I wonder. My sister was like that to, I wondered if it was a shadow thing

Courtney: "Mhm. No matter how tired I am. I literally cannot sleep. I've tried pills, I've tried getting knocked out- no joke, I have- and nothing makes me unconcsious. Blegh."
