Baylor Boarding School

Tara: I finished up helping that kid, and moved on to the next one. I now had finished with 4 of the 7 kids. So much for Derek tutoring.

Derek - I saw a boy in the corner and went over to him, "Hi," I say sitting down beside him.

Tara: I side glanced at Derek. He was talking to one of the kids now. Hm.

Dominic: "Hey," I muttered, scrawling through my math homework.

Derek - "Do you need any help?" I asked not knowing what else to say.

Dominic: I shook my head.

Tara: I walked over. "Now, Dominic, I'm sure you do. You and I both know that math isn't your best subject."

Derek - I didn't want Tara to force him to make me help him but I didn't say anything.

Dominic: I slid my paper over to Derek so he could check it, wishing Tara had been the one to help me. I didn't like new people.

Tara: I grinned then turned away to help another kid.

Derek - I checked his work and noticed a few mistakes. I pointed them out and started to help him. After that I tried to talk to him, "What type of stuff do you like to do?" I wonder.

Dominic: "Football," I answered.

Derek - I smiled, this I could talk about, "Do you play on a team?"

Dominic: I nodded, "For my school. I wanted to do travel, but ma didn't have enough money."

Derek - "What position are you?" I say curiously.

Dominic: I grinned. "Linebacker. Do you play football?"

Derek - "Yep, I'm the quaterback" I tell him.

Dominic: I nodded with a grin, maybe this guy wasn't half bad.

Tara: "Alright, everyone. It's almost six - time to wrap it up. I'll see you all next week," I smiled at all the kids, then went to grab my backpack.

Derek - "Hey, you ever want to talk or practice some with me you can," I tell him as I head towards Tara.

Dominic: I nodded.

Tara: I overheard what he said to Dominic, and shifted my backpack onto my shoulders as I spoke. "So does that mean you're planning on coming again?"

Derek - "If you'll let me," I smile.

Tara: I glanced over at Dominic. "You're making a breakthrough with one of the kids - it would be against my morals not to," I said, not really answering whether I wanted him to come back or not. I lead him out to the parking lot and climbed into my car again.

Derek - "You're never going to give me any hints to whether you are going to like me ever or not are you?" I sigh.

Tara: I shrugged. "Hints aren't really my style, they make it too easy for people to get things right," I laughed, since that was the point of hints.

Derek - "I like getting things right," I pout lightly.

Tara: "Of course you do," I said, as we pulled into the school's parking lot. I offered no other explanation, just hopped out. "So...tutoring. That goal is looking reachable right now for you."

Derek - "Good, I'd really love to reach it," I say honestlly

Tara: I nodded. "It would be good for you to help someone else, meaning Dominic, for once," I forced a smile.
