The rockin sound of the music

Evan: I breathed a sigh of relief and went over to the drumset.

Lidnell: I went to the fridge and grabbed some water and started to eat my sub.

Evan: I finished my food and started playing the drums.

Carson looked up, scrunching her nose at the smell of alcohol. That's why she hadn't wanted to go. Anywhere with Lidnell was sure to be dramatic, sober or not.

Evan: I looked up to see Carson. "Hey," I said to her, continuing to drum.

Carson nodded in greeting, picking at a plate of French fries that sat in her lap. She almost never let people see her eat, so she was a little uncomfortable.

Lidnell: I sighed as I watched for people and quickly sipped some of the whiskey that was semi-hiding under the coffee table. "This is delicious." I mumbled to myself as I continued eating my BLT.

Evan: "Is the food okay? Sorry for leaving you here." I ignored Lidnell in the kitchen, hoping he sobered up soon.

"S'fine. And you didn't leave me behind," she said. "I told you I didn't want to go." She looked down at her plate and pushed it onto the table, drinking some of her water.

Evan: I stopped drumming. "Yeah. Still, though. I'm sorry about that."

"Why?" Carson asked, drawing her legs up to her chest.

Evan: I frowned. "Weren't you lonely?"

Lidnell: I walked out of the kitchen and just walked around. The whiskey was gone and I decided to walk for a while so I wouldn't have that big of a hangover. I grabbed two bottles of water and chugged them down in ten minutes of walking then grabbed two more. I could still feel my eyes being so glassy but at least I am not going to be so drunk.

Evan: "Are you ready yet?" I asked.

Carson shook her head and then put her head on her knees. "Nah, my sister visited for a while," she said.

Evan: "Good," I said. "At least you weren't alone."

Carson nodded and smiled a little. "Yeah, but I guess I like spending time with you," she said. "A-all of you, I mean," she mumbled, her cheeks turnin a lght pink. "My sister spent to much time talking about her baby."

Evan: I nodded. "I know what you meant. How old is her baby?"

Lidnell: I stood in place hearing Evan and Carson and didn't bother with listening in on their conversation. I stood there and rocked back and forth getting tired and my vision started to get a little blurry.

"Sixteen months," Carson said with a wistful smile. She had actually liked spending time with Evan in particular, though. He was actually nice to her and cared if she did something stupid, like go to lunch with the band.

Evan: "Oh," I said. I wasn't a huge fan of children, but still. "What's the baby's name?"

Carson grimaced. "Sunday," she said, and then chuckled. She couldn't help but feel bad for the baby, but at least it wasn't named after a fruit.

Evan: I raised an eyebrow. "Sunday?" I asked. "Is it a boy or a girl?"

Carson smiled a little, feeling the sting of the blossoming bruise on her cheek. "A girl." She felt bad for lying to Evan, especially now. He sister hadn't showed up, but someone else had; none of the baby stuff was a lie.

Evan: I laughed. "Good. I would have been worried if it was a boy. I would feel bad for him."
